The FBI says Lily’s father killed himself to escape justice. As she deals with her grief, can a team of gamers help her prove them wrong? A gripping story about friendship, loss, and redemption, about a daughter’s love, and about finding one’s place in the world – all wrapped in a young-adult thriller package. A perfect blend of the funny and profound, as high school sophomore Lily tries, with some unexpected help, to find out what happened to her father. Something for fans of Looking for Alaska , Warcross , We Were Liars, or the Free Guy movie.

NEW updated cover and improved format - for a better reading experience

Lily’s world comes crashing down when her father dies in an apparent suicide. The official version is that her father was a criminal who took the easy way out. Lily doesn’t buy it, but can’t prove it. Instead she withdraws into her own darkness, stops talking to her friends, and misses her first day as a high school sophomore. When Nick, her neighbor that she hardly knows, pulls her into the gaming world, she is hooked. She meets her new tribe, and is drawn out of her darkness and into a new kind of light, into a new reality. Together they set out to find out what really happened to her father.

FBI agent Tristan Casco can’t stand the nerds he has to work with at the FBI’s Cyber Gaming Unit. Something happened during Tristan’s tour in Afghanistan that derails his career. He hasn’t seen his daughter in months and can’t seem to find the will to do much about it.

In As Worlds Drifted , Tristan's and Lily’s paths cross in an exhilarating online and offline adventure that gets deadly serious.

I really enjoyed the plot of this book and it's take on the world of gaming.

The world of Alphacore was fun and well described, and I liked the mix of the gaming world and reality.

I also liked the dual POV between our MC Lily and FBI agent Tristian, it worked really well to see both sides of the same 'investigation'. I also liked the friendships formed between Lily, Nick and the rest of the gaming gang.

The writing was choppy at times and I found we are more told more than shown when things happen in the book, I would have preferred a longer book with more scenes with actual things happening rather than being told what has happened between the time skips.

I related to Lily when she loses herself in the gaming world, it's easy to be someone else when in another version of reality, I really liked how this was portrayed in the book.

Another thing I liked was the ending, it was action packed and Lily has begun to look at life a bit more positively after the loss of her dad at the begging of the book.

Young adult, but equally mesmerizing to me (post young adult..) Lily is a highly likable main character, and as the story evolves reveals unexpected sides-following her journey on top of the pure thriller component was a page turner in itself. The story is full of suspense and despite the little knowledge I have in computer gaming, I was unable to put it down. The author made both worlds interesting in their own sense, and also using them to add layers to his main characters in a quite smart way. Tristan adds a witty cynicism to the story and I also felt I could have read more of him. Hoping to read more of P Tiden, the scene seems set for the sequel.

Loved the characters and all the topics in the book. Some parts needed more detail. I feel like this book had way more potential
