All Adalyn Russell ever wanted was a happily ever after. And at one point in time, she would do whatever it took to get that by any means necessary. Until whatever it took turned into a nightmare that almost took her life. She realized what she thought she wanted was toxic, and what she did want was staring her right in the face.
Waze Whitmoore always believed that when the right woman came along, he would know. And he was right because from the moment he met Adalyn, he knew that eventually she would be his. And she was.
With Waze, Adalyn had found her Prince Charming.
But it's when you have everything you think you could have ever wanted, that your past comes back and threatens to ruin everything.
Miami bred, Bella Jay (born Precious Rodgers) has had a love for books since she was a little girl. Getting lost in them was a favorite past time but writing them has become a true love. In 2018, with a little push she stepped out on faith and released her first novel to the world allowing her writer alter ego, Bella Jay, to take flight into the writing industry.
She writes spicy & contemporary Black romance books with unapologetically flawed characters who she loves to fix.
When she’s not wrapped up in her characters, she can be found traveling the world, building her empire, sipping on tea or wine while reading a book, and wishing healthy eats were pancakes or cupcakes.
This book was funny, light-hearted, and meaningful. I loved this book because there were so many life lessons in it. The main takeaway for me was that trauma catches up to you, so you better take care of it before you bleed on to those who don’t deserve it.
Although this was a contemporary romance novel, it had just enough drama for those who enjoy action filled books. This story reads as a stand-alone, but is a part of a series, so I would recommend reading the previous novels in addition to this one.
Whewwww I loved this series finale and am so sad this series is over. Waze and Addie had me tearing up on several occasions but I am glad they worked their issues out. Addie continued on her healing journey and Waze was patient with her even though it became very difficult at times. I still don't like Landon (yes I said it) but he did show some maturity that I did not think he was capable of.
I love this whole crew of characters and thank Bella Jay for sharing them with us. Her writing style really is amazing and I can't wait to dive into more of her work.
Adalyn and Waze, along with the main characters from the other installments in this series, are back. There life is almost picture perfect, that is until the demons from their past refuse to stay in the past. Adalyn's insecurities threaten to ruin everything her and Waze have worked for. This was one of the most stressful romance books I've read in a while and I loved EVERY minute of it. I was sad for the series to end, but it was a great ending to an amazing series.
I know this is book 4, but it was my intro into the series. Even though I didn't know the setting and the characters, the book moves quickly from the jump. I immediately vibed with Waze and his boys (Ky and Siah) and I liked Avelyn, and of course little AJ. I wasn't feeling Landon. I am still on the fence on Addie, but I'm glad she is on her path to growth. I have no issue with Jream, at all. I thought she showed some real maturity when she didn't have to. There's a couple of surprises in the book - I thought some characters would zig, but they zagged, so that was cool. There was definitely drama and some acting up, and I thought the ending was sweet, but satisfying. And the author introduced a phrase that I had never heard before - "tongue assassination." You will have to read it to find out the context of those two words. Whew!
I had been patiently waiting for part four of this series. These characters definitely hold a special place in my heart. This was a good read that had my emotions all over the place. Adalyn was stressing me out but my good sis was going through it but what I love was her growth. She had to let that hurt go!! Waze was too good of a man for her to lose. The book started very innocently and then the plot twist happened and I was not about to break my new kindle! 🤣I will for sure miss Waze buuut I’m still holding onto faith that our dear friend, Landon, will find love. Good work as always! I enjoyed this book❤️
Addie worked all of my available nerves!I thought she irked me in A Toxic Kind of Love but sis still had some learning and growing to do! Landon is still 🗑to me but as long as he's good to those kids I'll let him live! Waze was a better man than most and I applaud his efforts!
Loved this series finale! This series was so good and this book was the icing on the cake. Waze was and still is everything and all the things. My guy really loved that girl and she put him through A LOT. What I loved about him was that he walked away when things spiraled out of control.
They needed that space. Addie was stressful but like his sister said she jumped from one situation into the next. She needed to heal and to grow in order to be the woman she deserved to be for herself, her daughter and Waze. Thankfully she did it before it was too late. I also loved seeing the other characters and getting updates on their lives as well. I would highly recommend this series. Wonderful read.
This writer is now on my "must read" author list. She did a phenomenal job with this series. Oooh weee...engaging storyline, character development, right dose of drama, and intimacy...this author covered it all. This book took me through it but it was worth the read. This is the best series that I have read so far in 2021. I am glad that I can go back and read it again. Oh yes Waze is bae and I guess Landon is alright...LOL.
Addie drove me crazy but as time went on I understood it...but still. Waze,Waze, Waze! Men like him are rare so if you come across one ladies, hold on to him. The way he stepped in and up for Addie and AJ was admirable. He made me a little nervous with that Jream situation but I’m glad he didn’t let it get far. This book and the series were relatable and I would highly recommend.
Yes, Yes, Yes. My heart sank at the beginning of the book bc I figured there had to be a "not so easy path for Adalyn and Waze, although I hoped it did, but unfortunately, I was correct. Boy oh boy did this book have my emotions on 1000! I was hollering, laughing, even shed a thug tear (lol), and I almost didn't make it bc this one had my blood pressure up. When Waze was at that club, I just KNEW it was over. If I'd been reading a physical book & not the ebook, I would've thrown it across the room🤣. Let's NOT even start with Adalyn and her insecurities and all the other million things she had going on. I was ready to drag Jream by her roots...deep breathes.
Shout out to Black Men holding down their crazy, emotional, all over the place (yet loving) Black Women. Black Love; I'm ALWAYS here for it💕. Shout out to Black therapist (all therapist really) and even going to therapy; it helps and I'm so glad that was in this series, to help each person/couple get to the root of their issues to truly heal.
Overall, this was the best of the series. You could see the growth in the writing of Author Bella Jay with each book and I admire that in authors. How they can bring you in more and more with their work and this was very well done. Oh and that 'Insecure' quote, yea, nice touch; Growth😉. Please read this series and support this authors wonderful work. It might be a bit triggering and have you ready to fight, yet it's worth it.
In the words of Adelyn 'Here’s to never-ending, always lasting, forever and always love.'
Oh. Em. Gee. This book was so, sew, seaux GOOD!🙌🏾 I've reread A Toxic Kind of Love a dozen times because I loved Waze so much.😍 Let me tell you, this book was well worth the wait!❤️❤️❤️ And as a reader whose biggest question after ATKOL was whose is it, I appreciate you answering that page 1. Because there was so much more to Addie and Waze than that. It was great to see Addie and her growth. Clearly there was still some more growth that she needed to do, but hey, that's life. I was nervous for a minute. Especially since our dear author is so annoyingly Team Landon on IG.🙄😂🤣 (Sidenote: Tessah is a little too Team Landon too, and I'm tight you didn't let Addie swing on her after that lunch debacle.😑 But big ups for letting her tag G one good time.😁) Seriously though, Waze was, is and will forever be BAE.🥰 And shout out to his parents because really what Addie experienced was the product of how well they raised him. Given his family background, he was made for her! This was a great book and a very fitting end to this friend group. Wonderful Story!!!
It almost feels like a broken record to finish another book and say the same thing...but Inreally love this authir's writing style. She pulls me right in to her world and I'm engrossed with all that is going on with her people. The stories are told well. The characters are well developed. The problems aren't too over the top but are handled with care and maturity. Even after reading 5 books in a row, I'm still not able to guess how any of the stories unfold. This is more a review of the author than the actual story, it seems. LOL both are 5 star in my opinion! I'm so happy that Waze and PT got their happy ending. And Landon wasn't too terrible. And come through saving the day Mz Dream. I was here for it all.
This book put me on an emotional roller coaster. Adalyn and Waze. I’m an so glad that we got to see more into their story after the ending of A Toxic Kind of Love. No spoilers but I was slick upset after the first 2 pages. lol but I get it though. I was screaming at Adalyn most of the book but I’m glad that we got to see her and other characters growth by the end of the book. The book shows that sometimes your past can affect you in ways that you didn’t think it could. Like I stated in my other reviews of the books in this series, I love that the author is showing therapy in a positive light.
I won’t give anything away but I will say this was the PERFECT wrap up to the series. I’m so glad Addie and Waze got their own story and what a roller coaster it was. If you read the first 3 books then you’ll really enjoy this and if you haven’t I highly suggest you do before jumping into this one.
This is 1 of those books you didn’t know you were waiting for until you 1 click it! I like how now that we know the ins and outs of all the characters we get more. It’s always refreshing and a treat to read past the “happily ever after”! Addie had her moments but overall Waze expected more from her than what he was willing to give. Sure she was insecure but everything between Jream and him was inappropriate from the moment her crush was known. I definitely saw growth in all of the characters even Landon lol. Can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
Addie and Waze both had me side eyeing them at different times during this book, but they got it together. Addie grew a lot and showed Avelyn wasn't the only one with some deep seated issues. Landon might be alright after all, at least as a dad. They took us on a roller coaster but the ride was worth the read.
Waze is all the things!! Book 4 didn’t disappoint !! I loved this series because it about growth, accountability, forgiveness of self and those who hurt us. And most importantly acceptance. Acceptance of the things that hurt us, and acceptance of the love that we deserve. I still don’t like Landon.
This was a really good story on how love wins. Addie was a mess but in the end she got herself together. Waze was a great friend and man. I'm glad they got there happy ever after.
I waited to finish this book before writing a review. This series was everything. It makes you realize there is always room to grow and therapy ain’t never hurt anyone. This series was well written!
This was a quick read but nothing was left out. Usually there is little to no character development because everything is moving so quickly. However in this case it was executed perfectly and welcomed because I got a little too emotionally invested. Where can I get Waze? Asking for myself lol.
Waze was EVERYTHING and more. I loved the inclusion of other characters to highlight their growth. Addie could have fallen off of a cliff but ..I suppose Waze needed his happy ending.
4 1/2 stars A great story of two characters who have a beautiful connection which is troubled by miscommunication and out side forces beyond their control. The characters were great together and I found myself rooting for them. An interesting storyline with a bit of angst which was entertaining to read.
I requested a copy of this book so I could provide an honest review.
The ending was awesome. Thanks for the extension of Addy and Waze. All the books were great to read. This was my 1st time reading from this author. I like how the characters were portrayed in each book.
The story was very entertaining, but almost predictable. I fell in love with the characters but needed more suspense in the middle. Was a good read because read in two days.
Addie and Waze finally got it together. Addie's history is a lesson in toxicity. But, I was glad that she finally realized it and I'm glad Waze was there to catch her. Granted, I wanted to slap both of them a few times, but when the characters realized what the author so effortlessly told her readers, which is that they belong together and nothing from their past could stop it. A solid entry into this series. This duo is by far my favorite. Good flow, good character development, and love made for a pleasurable read.
First, I was not happy with the paternity. Addis was making me upset by bit communicating. But in the end love prevailed. I love how Waze was on his grown man business. Really great book.
Sis you did your thing!!!! I definitely didn't think that Waze and Addi would find their way back to each other after her drunken rage!! But like Ave said love conquered ALL
This book is the end of this series. Though everything gets wrapped up with a bow, readers will want to know about these couples and families. I enjoyed this series. I have to admit that I had to know what happened with Waze and Adalyn to see who was the father. Everything worked out as it should be.
Adalyn has just as many issues as her twin, if not more. She and Waze struggle to keep A.J. happy and continue to grow their relationship with all of the obstacles. Who could not love Waze especially the way he loves Adalyn and Avelyn? This man is definitely the cream of the crop. I definitely rooted for him throughout the whole book.
Please don’t miss a great ending to a wonderful series.
This series took me thru! I felt all the emotions of almost all the characters throughout their stories. I loved the aspect of therapy being provided for these couples and aiding to each one's personal growth as well as growth as a couples. Im a sucker for HEA and I think each couple got that.
