Let me tell you, as a total newbie I was pretty darn nervous to start playing chess. But after tearing through the pages of this here beginner's book, I'm having a blast playing games with the missus! The author really did an excellent job explaining the rules real simple-like with clear pictures and whatnot. Now we're moving our horses and castle dealies all over the board! I can't remember the last time we had such quality time together. I'd say this chess book is just swell for any greenhorn looking to pick up the game.

This is an excellent book for learning how to play chess from scratch. For those who are already familiar with the game, the author may go into superfluous detail, but for an absolute beginner like me, his explanations of both the game's fundamentals and its history are incredibly useful.

A great book for anyone looking to learn how to play chess and pick up some fun facts about the game along the way. It's written in a clear, easy-to-understand style, and the illustrations really help to grasp some of the concepts.
