The Pilgrim’s Soul was the best book I read in 2020, and kept me thinking long after I finished reading it. It has fully fleshed characters who come alive on the page and it’s fascinating to see how these different historical people from different time periods interact and help each other grow. I adored the main character, Simon, and rooted for him the whole time. I also got totally sucked into the world, the descriptions were breathtaking and magical, and dreamlike at times. It was also unlike any other fantasy I’ve ever read, and was such a breath of fresh air. If you enjoy literary fiction that transports you to another world, makes you think about life and death in a whole new way, and takes you on an adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat, The Pilgrim’s Soul is definitely for you!

I loved this book! The Pilgrim's Soul is based on such an unusual concept. It begins with Simon, a bitter old man, dying alone. But he ends up being reborn into a different dimension. It pulled me into this different world right along with the character to experience his adventures and his life there. The writing is great! It's exciting, but has calmer moments as Simon goes through his life in this totally different, but also familiar, environment. It causes you to think about what is important in the life we're living right now and what it could possibly mean to be immortal.

Easily one of the best books I've ever read. The author's ability to describe situations (that to me seemed impossible to describe) was fantastic. Without giving too much away, the description of how it feels to be a grown man in a baby's body was one of the most remarkable things I've read in my life. I highly recommend this book, and can't wait for the second!

This book is so different that it took me a while to process. When I first read it, I thought it was OK but then a month later I find myself going back to this book and I find myself recommending it and talking about the concepts within it. I’m fascinated by the various thoughts expressed in this book; about possible consequences of a never ending life. The descriptions are spot on and you are experiencing and seeing the craziness and yes there were times I felt a bit queasy but that’s a compliment to author Kane.

This is one of the best books I have read in a very long time. Sam does an awesome job of pulling the reader in from the very beginning. I felt I was right there with Simon through his whole journey. This book gives the reader a chance to explore their imagination in a world like no other. I can’t wait for the next book!

The pilgrims soul is absolutely majestic. Once I started reading it, I could not put it down until it was finished. Detailed descriptions of the characters and the world around them made the story come to life. It makes the reader question their own journey in life and the afterlife. This is hands down the best book that I have read. I can't wait for book 2 to come out, and will read book one many more times until then.

The Pilgrim's Soul will take you on a journey through all the spectrum of emotions! Brilliantly written, it tackles a concept we all seek to understand, the afterlife (or afterlives). It was a totally enthralling page turner that most will probably read in one or two sittings. And the great news is there is more to come from author Sam Kane and this particular series! Simon's journey will continue. Make sure to mark this book and the author down for future releases. I highly recommend this book as a must read!

I've never had a book make me think about life and my place in it more than this one. The descriptions and metaphors allow you to experience and picture the unimaginable.

Bringing logic, philosophy, magic, and fiction all together is quite the feat that is pulled off in amazing fashion.

For those looking for a new type of fiction, I can't recommend this enough. Just brilliant.

This is a great read. The narrative takes you into another world and dimension, which was a welcome escape and a joy to experience. Kane's prose is strong and his descriptions are vivid. There are lots of thought-provoking questions raised and tons of interesting characters, some entirely fictitious and some historical. If you're looking for a fun read that also explores different possibilities and ideas about consciousness, I can't recommend this one enough.

The Pilgrim’s Soul is a book you will think about for the rest of your life. I’ve often wondered what humanity would look like without boarders or ending consequences and Kane jumps right into these big ideas with ease and literary poetry. With Simons journey into Dara, magical creatures and landscapes, historical figures and existential questions I found myself immensely entertained. I laughed, I cried and would quietly close the pages to ask myself hard questions. Amazing that one book could do so much, let’s have another!
