Zane was a very cocky young man. He wanted his father’s approval but at what cost. It caused him to grow up quickly. Zane shows the reader how some people regard women. If you are having issues in your life then this may not be the story for you because it could trigger something. I do applaud the author for including such a tough subject. If it’s hard to read then I can imagine that it must have also been tough to write.
This is one of those stories that makes you thankful that this is a work of fiction. Some of us tend to be a little naive about what really goes on in the world. We live in our own little corner and tend to forget how tough life. We don’t want to know about those that have two sides – the side they show to the world and the side we really don’t want to get to know.
The author tells this story from Zane’s perspective. All the impressions and emotions are his. There are those close to him who own his heart. There are those that work closely with him that he demands respect. If you cross his invisible line, watch out. This is one of the darker mafia stories that I have read.
By having Zane tell us his story just adds to the darkness. It’s really hard to find the romance in that. There are glimmers and bright spots but you may need to be patient to see them. Can a hardened man find, and hold on to, the woman that will break down his walls? Once he has her, will his life let him hold on to her? When I got to the end I had to wonder if I will get to see any of these characters again. Will we ever know if Zane is ever truly happy?

Disruption is a forbidden romance and had all the makings for a great book. There was betrayal, revenge, twists, sex, drama, chaos, etc. But unfortunately, even with all the potential, it still fell flat.
Zane was supposed to be this intimidating, all action, take no crap, cruel and feared criminal boss. But we never actually seem him in all his glory. We see his rage being unleashed for one or two times max, otherwise everyone else in the story seemed to be the ones doing all the intimidating, taking all the action, and instilling all of the fear.
Bailey was a contradiction. She was nothing but a hot mess. All she did was play games and actually ruin her own life. For wanting, and supposedly loving Zane, she had a funny way of showing it. She was more selfish then anything. She was disloyal, a trader, and a liar.
Their story will give you whiplash. They are so hot and cold and their relationship really makes no sense. I kept waiting for someone to come to their senses. I was waiting for Zane to have an epiphany based on his mother's wisdom that she left with him, yet he never even reflected on it once.
The story seemed like it was going to lead to a series with a possible book for Jameson and Bishop, but we find out about where Bishop is in life and what he's up to. In fact we know more about Bishop's happily ever after instead of Zane. And we are left wondering what happens to Jameson and what actually went down between Baily and Zane. After investing all our time reading we are pretty much left with nothing.
Basically, I was left with more questions then answers. What happened to Micky? What happened with Jameson? What happened to Bella? What happened between Zane and Bailey? We never got to hear how they mended bridges and after every thing that happened we deserved better then what we got in that epilogue.

Zane has worked his way up in the ranks to finally he called boss in the family business. He is in love with his best friend’s (Jameson) sister, Bailey. He promised Jameson that he would never touch her. Between running his business, which is first in his priorities, and trying to not to break his promise, his life is complicated.
Opinion
Ok, I like mafia romances. Thus one though? It brought to the forefront the darker side of what they presumably do. The chosen job is one that turns my stomach. For this reason alone, I dropped the star rating to a four instead of a five. Do I know that the mafia is full of misdeeds? Yes. But this particular business was somewhat important to the story.
Victoria Johns is the queen of the dark side. Having read other books if hers, I am familiar with her twisted writing style, and I love it! The characters are realistic. The situations are something plausible in real life. There is always an element of surprise and certainly a compulsion to finish the book as quickly as I can.
Even though I wasn’t happy about the one element, I still think this was a great book and would certainly suggest it to lovers of dark romance.

Zane Teague wanted it all, he wanted to be someone everyone feared and desired along with the promise of riches and being the ruler of Teague Mafia Crime World. Something he wants more than anything is the love of his life Bailey Roach, but she is off limits, he made a promise not to date or touch his best friends sister or introduce her to the crime world or have her tainted by things they are apart of.
This is my first book by Victoria Johns she did a good job of giving you two main characters who are in love but he was bound by his loyalty to someone they both love her brother and his best friend. She is untouchable and strickly off limits. This author let you see pain, hurt, lust and let you see what promises can cost you in the end. Looking forward to reading future books from this author.

There’s one forbidden girl that he wants even more but he swore to his best friend, who is also her twin, that he would never go there. But Bailey was everything he needed to keep him grounded. You’ll love to hate them.

Zane wants it all. He wants control of the family empire and Bailey (his best friend's sister). He promised Jameson, his best friend that he wouldn't touch or get Bailey involved in his business. The couple will go through much turmoil and heartbreak. A truly dark and twisted story that I recommend.

4.5 Suspenseful stars
I have read books by Victoria Johns before and was very excited to discover that in addition to the previous MC series she was writing a crime lord based romance, this sub-genre along with Mafia is one of my absolute favourite to read. I love the suspense, the unpredictability, and the bad guys.
With Disruption, I was not disappointed.
Disruption delivered all that I love and more.
A slow burn, best friends sister romance, best friends to lovers romance. Forbidden romance.
In the beginning, you are thrust into Zane's world. As a teenager, he longs to follow in his father's footsteps and take his place in the family business. His first attempt at proving himself fails, his father does not deem him as ready but years later he makes a comeback and takes his place as the head of the business.
Throughout all of that, there are also the details of the family business and Zane's rise to power but weaved into the plot is a love story. Zane's love for his childhood best friend's sister.
I am not entirely sure of the connection between Zane and the Roach twins or how they become so close or how a crime lord boss would allow his kid to be with an outsider. Like I said I have read a lot of Mafia and crime lord books and the families are normally very close-knit and don't normally allow outsiders, other than family into the fold, This is irrelevant really but it just got me questioning the why's and how's of their dynamic three-way relationship since being kids.
Anyhow, Jameson Roach, Zane's childhood best friend later joined Zane in his life of crime and became his right-hand man with a promise that his twin sister was off-limits.
That promise has tormented him for years.
Zane and Bailey are two people that want each other but can't be with one another. One, because of a promise, and two, because Zane doesn't want Bailey tainted by his world.
But, the heart wants what the heart wants and sometimes destiny can't be fought.
Disruption does have a dark element to it. Zane's primary business is the trafficking of young girls but it does not go into vivid detail about this.
The sex scenes between Zane and Bailey are scorching hot and well written, Zane is everything in the bedroom you would expect from a strong domineering man who has lusted after his friend for most of his teenage and adult life.
Baliey, I don't know what to say about Bailey, other than I do wish this story had her point of view. I felt like I was watching her from afar, I did not feel a connection at all. And her power over Zane made him come across as a lovesick teenager most of the time instead of the bad Ass crime lord he was supposed to be.
You only get Zane's pov in this story and that left me disappointed especially when I needed an explanation for some of Bailey's actions, her destructive behavior, the choices she made, an apology, or an explanation from her own mouth that would have redeemed her character?
I would definitely read more if this developed into a series, however, the plot does tell you that Bishop his other right-hand man, who I loved, by the way, settles with the madam who looks after the trafficked girls and you also discover how Zane's right-hand man Jameson loves Bella who is Bishop's sister. Bishop is very protective of his sister and does not want Bella touched by this life, so their story would also be very similar to this one, so apart from the detailed spoiler alerts that are already in place, I would be interested in knowing more.
In summary, I did enjoy this book. It's brilliantly written despite the highlighted issues I found in this story.
Disruption had the excitement and the suspense I would have expected in this kind of read and I would recommend it.

Disruption by Victoria Johns was a suspenseful Mafia Romance read, which was intriguing and dark and also very steamy.
The story was dark. It got uncomfortable at some point because there is a theme that made me feel uneasy, but as it got more about the romance of it, the easier it was to read. So read with caution.
It was very interesting to see how Zane worked, from past to present. To see his personality around different people was intriguing, and his relationship with Bishop was lovely. I adore Bishop. I need Bishop's story ASAP.
Disruption was steamy AF! The chemistry between Zane and Bailey was hot. Zane is not only insane in the streets, but also in the sheets, because, HOT DAMN! And Bailey is not shy at all! Go, girl!
However, I did find Bailey to be a little annoying and whiny and felt that Zane deserved better than how he was treated by her. They aren't good characters, but when it came to Bailey, his intentions were good, and he deserved better than he was given.
The ending of the story was unexpected, but it ended on a high. I enjoyed it. I did not see it coming at all. As a new author to me, I am a new fan and can't wait to read more of this series, and more from this author.

Wow, what can I say about this book from Victoria Johns. I think it has to be her best to date. The darkness, the intrigue and the sex are all off the charts. She really knows how to write a bad man - notice I didn't say boy, as Zane is everything manly. He's mean, dark, moody and extremely sexy and is exactly what a H in this genre should be like. As for Bailey, I love that she is strong and forceful, yet has deep insecurities that cause her to make mistakes. Zane is her nemesis in love and vice versa which makes for an amazingly powerful love story. There aren't pages and pages of back and to between them - the sort that makes you want to bang the two leads heads together, there is just enough. Enough that you have to turn each page to find out what happens next. Without giving anything away, I found the ending extremely powerful and I think Victoria Johns did a fantastic job of breaking our hearts before putting them back together again. Fully recommend this book and fingers crossed we get another book from this brilliant cast of characters.

I was a newbie to Victoria Johns and didn’t know what to expect.
I can honestly say that whenever I see a book by this author I will be glad to take a chance on her.
This story was about two people who have loved each other since kids but knew that they couldn’t be together.
Zane, a mafia alpha, who was feared by many has always loved Bailey. There wasn’t a time that he didn’t love her. He knew he should stay away. He made a promise to stay away. Only thing is that he didn’t have the strength or the courage to keep that promise. His love for her disrupted his mind, calmness, and even loyalty to his best friend. But that is what love does. It blinds you, consumes you and the only way to survive and feel the tranquility is being next to that person.
That’s what Bailey did. Yes she drove him crazy but that’s when she was out his reach.
Great story with a great ending.

Disruption was a hard book for me to review to be honest. I'm always up for a dark mafia romance, and I even know what a lot of crime families deal in, but somehow it just hit differently in this story. Zane has finally worked his way up to the top of the family, and will do whatever it takes to stay there, and a big money maker is the sex trade. He's supposed to stay away from his best friend's twin sister, Bailey, but they can't deny the chemistry. I don't know how I felt about Bailey either because of her game playing antics, but I can say they lit the sheets on fire. There are twists which had me on the edge of my seat waiting for answers, but by the end, I feel like I have more questions than answers so I'm hoping that we'll get another book someday. Anyway, this is only my opinion so please decide for yourselves! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Victoria Johns, I'm not sure how I've never read you before, but I will be rectifying that mistake for the foreseeable future. You are absolutely the QUEEN of DARK!
Amazing writing, the world building in this was absolutely top notch, the dark side to this book actually pushed my boundaries and I found myself oddly captivated by it all.
Zane Teague wants to be feared, desired, and wants the very things he isn't supposed to have including the stunning Bailey Roach. He is destined to become the ruler and King to the Teague Mafia and will have all the riches of being a ruler, but Bailey is off limit to him because she is his best friends sister.
Your emotions are going to go through a rollercoaster ride, prepare yourselves to see and feel the pain, hurt, lust and love through these characters eyes. Promises can cost you a lot and you'll see that during this dark read. Job well done!

Great big dog turd
Am I the only one who can’t stomach that Zane is a raping, human-trafficking thug who considers all women to be objects? Am I seriously expected to gloss over these multiple occurrences of rape and hope for a HEA for this man? Maybe I missed an important message somewhere in this book, but I think not. I wish I had put down this book at the first mention of his involvement with sex-trafficking, but I kept on reading in the hope that maybe this was one of those rare books where he gains insight, shows remorse and changes his ways. But no.
I feel like I’ve stepped into an enormous and especially disgusting pile of dogs**t and it will be days before I’ve managed to scrape this experience off of my soul.
Ugh.

This is only the second book by this author, the first was Scripted Reality, a collaboration with Nikki Ashton.
I love dark romance novels, and this was a great addition to my library and my mind! I am definitely checking out Johns' library!!!
Zane and Bailey were so amazingly written. Depth that made you know them well!
It was so hard to put this book down!

This is a very intense book. Watching Zane stay away from Bailey was disheartening. The things you do for a real friendship.... sometimes you find yourself wondering if it’s worth trying to stay away or finding your own happiness. This book had me from the beginning and I was hooked all the way to the end. This was my first book from this author but definitely not my last.

I really enjoyed this book was a great story about Irish Mafia which made a changed from the norm
The charterers were great you really got to know them a bit dark and gritty but with hot steamy screens as well , just hope the other characters get to tell their stories as well because there’s so much more to come
