The Delphi Eddies: a southern-fried tale of seduction, secrets, and sin

Rate this book
Nothing much ever seems to change in the small southern town of Delphi. The bag boys still take customers’ groceries out to their cars; the churches still frown on rock and roll, and every now and then ... a dead body is dragged out of the Delphi River.

Sam, Pete, Tommy, and Bill are lifelong friends who grew up in Delphi. They’ve all found their perfect matches, but looks can be deceiving. A chance encounter changes everything and in an instant the bonds of friendship and fidelity are pushed to the ultimate limits in this beautiful debut novel from Randy Foster.

An Engrossing, Amusing Read

A stirring, savory tale of camaraderie and love from the South. The book kept me enganged with a great plot and memorable, relatable characters. Randy managed to eloquently convey the complex relationships and feelings without being excessively convoluted.

Tragic, yet amusing. Shocking, yet touching. Love, profound sorrow, consummate hatred and extraordinary forgiveness are masterfully integrated into this delightful book.

An engrossing and amusing reading experience!

"All humans are slaves to love. It commands them and guides their every action. They can deny it, resist it, or try to make it not exist; but they are only pawns in the game. Everyone loves either someone or something, and that love has fueled every step and misstep since the beginning of time.”
~Randy Foster, The Delphi Eddies: a southern-fried tale of seduction, secrets, and sin

For me to enjoy a story I need to feel the characters. I want to cheer for them, be angry with them, and cry with them. I want to plunge into their lives and get to know them. With this read from Randy Foster’s debut novel, I believe that is exactly what I received when I dove into this book. I feel like I know his characters, just like the kids I grew up with on my block. I love his characters, the settings and the way in which he tells the story.

Another aspect I enjoy is the unique style of writing and use of foreshadowing and flashbacks. Plus, there are so many twists, turns and cliffhangers I never saw coming. I would be just reading along and BOOM! or AHA! or NO! What the Hell!... this happened more often than not and I loved it!

The title offers a tale of ‘southern-fried tale of seduction, secrets and sin’. Foster, for me a least, fulfilled his promise of doing just that with his title and jacket and so much more. It is this kind of book that keeps me reading and wanting to find more like it, The Delphi Eddies. It is the kind of novel that when I come to the last few chapters, a wave of sadness hits me because I know the end is near. This book will stay with me a long time after I close the cover. I am so glad I dove into ”The Delphi Eddies: a southern tale of seduction, southern-fried of seduction, secrets and sin”.

MEMORABLE CHARACTERS AND MEMORABLE STORY!
