Money to Burn

Rate this book
Some thieves steal a lot of money and escape in a stolen car. The terrible weather forces them to stop at a farm where a young girl and her brother have been left alone. The thieves capture the boy, but not the girl, so it is up to her to free her brother and raise the alarm. "Penguin Readers" is a series of simplified novels, film novelizations and original titles that introduce students at all levels to the pleasures of reading in English. Originally designed for teaching English as a foreign language, the series' combination of high interest level and low reading age makes it suitable for both English-speaking teenagers with limited reading skills and students of English as a second language. Many titles in the series also provide access to the pre-20th century literature strands of the National Curriculum English Orders. "Penguin Readers" are graded at seven levels of difficulty, from "Easystarts" with a 200-word vocabulary, to Level 6 (Advanced) with a 3000-word vocabulary. In addition, titles fall into one of three sub-categories: "Contemporary", "Classics" or "Originals". At the end of each book there is a section of enjoyable exercises focusing on vocabulary building, comprehension, discussion and writing. Some titles in the series are available with an accompanying audio cassette, or in a book and cassette pack. Additionally, selected titles have free accompanying "Penguin Readers Factsheets" which provide stimulating exercise material for students, as well as suggestions for teachers on how to exploit the Readers in class.

A1. Maybe I can't move and speak. I dodn't have a confidence to face up to them. But I have to do somethinng to solve this situation.

I enjoyed this book. This book was recomended by Sachi. I also recommend the book which I read last wek to her. This book is interesting. I also have a yonger brother, so I could think abot this situation. She helped her brother and could ask helping to police. I was surprised that she burned money, but it was good idea.

4 Q If you happen to see a robber, what will you do?
A I may catch him by his arm by myself, and after that, I call for help to contact with police to someone who is around me.

5 This book was so good that I could read it without rest. for me, it is trrible that robbers break into my house when I am in my house by myself. If I faced situation like this, I just hide, and hope them not to find me. In this book, a girl and a boy tried to escape from the house which had been broken into by robbers, and call police.
the most intersting point in this book that buring a lot of money contributed to catch robbers.

5. I thought Andy is smart because she is calm to catch robbers and finally she can do it. If I were her or in that situation, I would not do anything.

4. 'It was lucky I had money to burn!' laughs Zoe.
Money is very important and ordinally, it is unlikely, but when people face danger of life, they can do anything like burning money. After all, nothing is more important than life.
5. Zoe is very brave girl. If I was in her position, I cannot act like her. I know life is important but I might hesitate to burn money.

Bravery and safety are always two difficult things to choose from... I want to be safe but I know that if the situation is really unfair, I will be brave, especially if it involves children. Some thieves steal a lot of money and escape in a stolen car.
