Mary B. Barbee is the author of the Amish Lantern Mystery Series. As an avid fan of all mystery and suspense in print, on television and in film, Mary believes the best mystery is one where the suspect changes throughout the story, keeping the audience guessing. She enjoys providing an exciting escape for a few hours with stories her readers can't put down - and always with a surprise ending.
When not writing, Mary is either playing a couple sets of tennis or a strategy board game with her two witty daughters and her kindly competitive mother. The four of them share a home in the Inland Northwest in the beautiful town of Spokane, Washington with their really cute - but sometimes naughty - chihuahua.
Omg!! This is a series I can't put down and have to read in one sitting. I loved the Amish details and humor along with the tears. The story is fantastic. I love how quickly the story moves and that each book hooks you for the next one. Now if there were just more in the series! Definitely worth more than five stars.
The twins, again, do not fail to impress! This was great- the main conflict was heartbreaking but brought some reality to the story that grounded it well. The ending was surprising and fairly clever, I thought. Highly recommend- another great book from the author.
After reading the first book in this new series, Thick as Thieves by Mary B. Barbee, I excitedly waited for the next book in the series. The Amish sisters, wise women of the Little Valley community, are back with an all new mystery to solve.
I enjoyed the cozy story line that blends a good mystery with the Amish setting. It's very well-done and sends out the perfect cozy Amish vibe.
It has suspense with creepy villains, red herrings, a surprise reveal of who really committed the crime, all while staying within the realm of a lovely Amish story.
I highly recommend this series and can't wait for book #3!
This is such a unique series, each novel is better that the last if that is possible. I love the Amish setting and the twins who are amateur sleuths. The novel kept me spellbound from page one to the very last word! The tension and relationships are beautifully written and will keep readers coming back for more. Mary B. Barbee is a gifted and talented author. The story line is beautifully crafted and the characters are artfully crafted. I can't wait to see what happens next. I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the novel.
The red herrings in this book are very good. Characters are engaging and written well. I held one star back because it wasn't quite exciting enough for me. But I will read more of these stories.
Loved the book from the very start and wished it had lasted longer even thou all good things come to an end. It felt that these secrets were causing pmore problems than any good especially at the beginning. As the story progressed, I found that things changed and so much so that people were glad everything was now sorted and that all would get back to normalcy as much as possible but not without some intrigue
In book 2 of this lovely Amish Mystery series, a young Amish girl is found dead in the woods. As she is the Bishop's daughter everyone in the community is truly saddened and they want to help. Enter twin sisters Beth and Anna who seem to have a knack for solving mysteries. With the new sheriff and the twins the perpetrator doesn't stand a chance. This is another delightful and quick read that will entice the reader to the very end.
