This was such a fun book. I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked this book up, considering the "fortune telling" in the title. I kinda expected it to be a full fortune telling book, where you open it up on a random page to get your fortune. That's not what this was at all. This book follows Shappo, who loses their memory. This book follows their journey to get it back, while at the same time adds in these "fortune telling" sections, which a really just personality quizzes. And they're very fun, because they are unpredictable. The questions follow the story, and give multiple options, you pick whichever you want, and get a seemingly unrelated fact facts about yourself, which starts to make more sense if you actually think about it. The book is colourful throughout, and has some great illustrations as well. The chapters follow several of the themes sentimental circus has done over the years, including several fairy tales references, like Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and Red Riding hood. As Shappo learns about themselves, you learn about yourself with cute quizzes. It's a very fun concept, and I've never read a book like this before. As for the quizzes, the ones where I instantly knew my answer were usually pretty spot on, while the ones I didn't know what to choose where often wrong xD. I thought it was really funny how my mental age according to the book was my exact current age. With there being only four options, that's a pretty slim chance, so I thought that was a great coincidence. This book is very clearly aimed at younger audiences, children and teens, students, at least.
