Zena #1

Zena, Lesbian Space Pop Star

Rate this book
A brilliant scientist, skilled fighter, adored pop star, and incredibly modest about it all, Zena Starr is the most beloved woman in the galaxy. And only a few people want to kill her for it. One of them? A bloodthirsty aristocrat from Zena's past. The other? The mutant assassin she hired to bring back Zena's head.
There’s nothing Zena hates more than losing, and the assassin’s trap awaiting her at an empty lunar amusement park risks the loss of everything Zena’s ever given a damn about: her stardom, her reputation, and her eccentric crew of misfits that have become Zena’s family. To protect what she loves, Zena finds herself locked in an all-or-nothing battle with the most dangerous assassin to ever cross the stars.

This book is a blast! A fun scifi romp that never stops. Summer Renna brings a large cast of characters to the table and skillfully makes each one an individual. This is especially true with the androids A1 through A5.

light & funny

This book really scratched my itch for a light-hearted sci-fi that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Zena, lesbian space pop star and total narcissist, faces off with hired assassin Lance El Tral Yrr, who has eight arms and can clone herself into fourths. The cast was so fun down to the side characters — I really loved 5000, who hilariously is almost seduced by a person he really thinks is an AI like him. This was full of pop culture references adapted humorously to its sci-fi setting and I enjoyed picking them apart. Looking forward to Zena’s next adventure (just as much as she is).
