Frank W. Butterfield, not an assumed name, loves old movies, wise-cracking smart guys with hearts of gold, and writing for fun.

Although he worships San Francisco, he lives at the beach on another coast.

Born on a windy day in November of 1966, he was elected President of his high school Spanish Club in the spring of 1983.

After moving across these United States like a rapid-fire pinball, he currently makes his home in a hurricane-proof apartment with superior water pressure that was built in 1926.

While he hasn't met any dolphins personally, that invitation is always open.

Okay, I didn't exactly read this book but I sort of did - here's how. I have all 24 of the short stories/novellas in this collection. I purchased and read them as they became available throughout 2020. Then, this month, I sorted them all into chronological order - not by holiday, but by year. I re-read one a day, starting with St. David's Day 1848 all the way through Veteran's Day 2006. It's a very different experience, so I wanted to recommend that the author release a version of these stories in that alternate order.

I am going to miss this series - can't wait to see what happens next.

I've found Frank Butterfield to be an excellent writer. He is descriptive without being excessive. It's a straightforward writing style that especially suits the characters and era in which they lived. To be honest, I've fallen in love with Nick and Carter! These two characters personify everything good about people and offer an example of being true to yourself even in the face of adversity. They are great role models for gay people and set a wonderful example of a strong, committed, loving relationship over decades of life. I would suggest reading the original Nick and Carter story, "An Enchanted Beginning," just to get an original understanding of the two main characters before tackling this book. It is not necessary, though. I just believe that a reader would develop an even greater fondness for Nick and Carter if they knew the complete backstory of these two men. The only real criticism I have with this book is that there was an occasional word missing or misplaced in a sentence here and there. It caused a disruption in the flow as you are reading, trying to figure out what the author meant or was trying to say. I still give this book a 5-Star rating, as I think Butterfield is a master at telling a story - and in this book, you have many. many short stories to read!!!
