It's Not Your Fault

Rate this book
Sadly, the trauma of childhood sexual abuse is more widespread that we realize. If a child has been sexually abused and does not receive the proper support to help them cope with this trauma, they are much more likely to develop a wide variety of behavioral and social difficulties as they grow into adolescence and adulthood.

I have written this book for parents & caregivers of children ages 5 to 10, to read with their children who have been sexually abused or are suspected of having been sexually abused. This is not a book that you should give to your child to read on their own. The main character of the book, a girl named Jordan, tells her own personal story of sexual abuse and bravery in a very child-friendly manner that children can relate to. The goal of this book is to help child victims of sexual abuse to realize that it is NOT their fault, to empower them to talk about the trauma that they have endured, as well as to help them begin to heal.

My sincere hope is that Jordan's story can help to ease the pain that your child and your family feel, following such a tragic violation of trust, as well as to connect you to an invaluable resource called, "Bikers Against Child Abuse," (B.A.C.A.). B.A.C.A. members work with children who have been abused sexually, emotionally, or physically. More information about this amazing organization is provided within this book, as well as at the end, with the expressed permission of B.A.C.A.

Also included at the end of the book are some tips and guidelines for parents and caregivers to utilize and be aware of while reading this book with their children. I wish you and your family the best as you navigate through this trauma with your child and I am hopeful that this book can be a valuable resource for you.

A gentle, helpful book for parents to read together with a child who has experienced the trauma of sexual abuse. It helps both child and parent by not merely telling how to respond and cope but by giving an example of how to respond to the incident(s), give support, and pursue healing in addition to a helpful list of tips and guidelines at the end. It also introduces the support organization "Bikers Against Child Abuse" (B.A.C.A.) and gives information on how to contact them.
