Back when I was a child, I loved interactive picture books. When I grew older, I enjoyed reading them to my nieces and nephews. This is a book that would have been a lot of fun to read to them if they were still little. The illustrations in this book are simple but well done. We do get the sense of how his world is affecting Henry. In this book, hungry Henry is upset that he cannot fly. He only realizes at the beginning of the book that he doesn't have wings, so flying under his own power will not happen. Upset by this, he thinks negative thoughts. The unseen narrator suggests he try to think positive thoughts and find a solution. The narrator encourages him to think of three things he is thankful for; Henry remembers his dad not having wings and encouraging positive thoughts. I liked that after Henry figures out his three things, the narrator suggests the reader/child do so as well. He calls a friend, one of the things he is thankful for, and she suggests that Henry blow all of his negative thoughts into a balloon. As Henry blows into the balloon, releasing his negative thoughts, he feels better but still can't fly. However, he continues to blow the balloon up big… really big. In fact, the author suggests that we turn the book sideways at one point so that we can get the effect of the big balloon. Henry attaches this to a balloon basket that appears, and yes, he can now fly. I like how this book explores the concepts of gratitude, getting rid of negative thoughts, out-of-the-box thinking, and reaching out to and listening to your friends when you need help. Throughout the book, though not on every two-page spread, the author does ask questions of the reader or ask them to do certain things, like turn the book or pat Henry's head when he's feeling bad. Great interactivity!
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Hungry Henry is a great book series and this one is about how to stay positive. I like the simple ideas it has to show kids how to think positive thoughts. The interactive approach to telling the story makes it fun and engaging for the reader too. Excellent book
We really loved this bright illustrated story with cute drawings! It has great techniques that children can learn and use to stay positive! I really like how children can practice the techniques and also make other interactive actions as prompted throughout the book. I would definitely recommend it!
I received a free ARC copy of this book but that did nit affect my review in any way.
A sweet little story teaching children to let their negative thoughts go and think of positive things. There are some examples for children to try as they go through the story which they should be able to use easily.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
How very lovely and delightful this sweet interactive book and his main character, Hungry Henry are! My five year old had a lot of fun cheering Henry on and helping him fly high!
What a darling book! The characters have such cute personalities and I love the interactive exercises included also. I found myself blowing out to relax and think positive! What a wonderfully simple tool for our young children to learn.
