Carrie and Charles Faraday look forward to a get-away vacation in this fourth book in the Faraday murder series. Since their marriage, they've solved three murders and are ready for some relaxation.
However, when the Millford Manor's owners ask the couple to vacation at their hotel to help them find who's behind a series of unusual sightings, unexplained voices, and mischievous pranks, the couple agrees to go undercover at the hotel. Is the cause ghostly activity or is there a human element involved behind these disturbances? When the hotel's event manager is murdered, the pressure is on the Faradays to solve the crime before someone else dies.

Millie Mack writes the Faraday Murder Series. She enjoys everything mysterious--stories, books, and videos. Even her cats can be very mysterious. She especially enjoys mystery jigsaw puzzles where completion of the puzzle reveals the solution to a crime. Millie Mack was born in Philadelphia, lives near Baltimore and worked in Washington which helped her create the fictional town of Tri-City featured in her books. She continues to live in the Baltimore area where she is working on the next book in her series featuring amateur sleuths Carrie and Charles. This is the latest in the series by Millie Mack. Ms. Mack has written another wonderful and intriguing mystery for Charles and Carrie Faraday to help solve. This is set in a vacation setting where many people are always coming and going. Treat yourself to this wonderful read! I look forward to the next book.

Amateur sleuths Carrie and Charles Faraday return in their fourth adventure. This time, they're recruited by the owners of Milford Manor, a popular hotel, dining, and conference venue, to investigate a rash of ghostly apparitions, unexplained noises, and mysterious vandalism. The Manor has long had a reputation as a haunted hotel, but the now the ghosts--if ghosts they are--are driving customers away just as a major expansion gets underway. Financial ruin is on the horizon. Is supernatural activity to blame, or does someone have it in for the Manor?

Once again, Mack delivers a complex, twisty tale filled with suspects, intrigue, and deception. With an old murder and a disappearance in the background, a new murder occurs, and those ghosts...well, you'll have to find that part out yourself! Let's just say there's more going on here than meets the eye.

Take the Spirit of Murder is a five-star story, but as with Take Stock in Murder (book 2 in the series), I have to ding it a bit for the writing, particularly the dialogue, which I feel could be sharper. Nevertheless, it's a fun, enjoyable read, reminiscent of Lillian Jackson Braun minus the cats. Give it a try!

I was excited for Millie Mack’s next book and she did not disappoint. Her writing is always captivating, entertaining and enjoyable to read. Carrie and Charles are at it again figuring our clues and solving mysteries. I loved the setting of the book in a hotel, complete with likeable, well developed characters, lots of suspects, and even a ghost or two. Take the Spirit of Murder is a fast read and one that I could not put down. I highly recommend it.

Charles and Carrie Faraday are at it again in the latest chapter of this cozy mystery series. The couple, who are reminiscent of Nick and Nora Charles, set out for a quiet weekend at a friend's hotel, but of course it turns out to be anything but quiet. Lots of interesting characters and plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. A good read.
