I can say the illustrations are bright and whimsical. Lightning bugs are magical and I've only seen them one time--at Michigan State U in Lansing one evening as we were walking through the campus back to my car after eating dinner. The friend I was with was very nonchalant but I was super excited. So I can see that Ella would be excited too, but the dialog is too overwrought. The text is in inconsistent and awkward rhyme and sometimes hard to read against the illustrations.
