When the ghosts of the past live rent-free in a man’s heart, there’s no room for anyone else.
For Nick “Thunder” Taylor, flying and the military meant everything. When life took an unexpected turn, he replaced one Hawg with another, embracing the brotherhood he found with the Phantoms. However, burying his past doesn’t mean it won’t come back to haunt him.
After he patched in, Thunder had an unforgettable encounter with an amazing woman only for her to ghost him.
Three years later, he’s outraged when she walks into his clubhouse and pretends the whole thing never happened. Now he’s torn between discovering her game or playing a more pleasurable one with her.
Either way, she’s not going to right her skirt, say thanks, and just walk away again.
Verlene was born and raised in the south. Thanks to the military, she's traveled the US, but now calls Sin City home.
Self proclaimed zombie apocalypse enthusiast, word porn peddler, human canvas, Manowarrior, serial grammar killer, rabid Bama fan, accidental dust bunny population specialist, and abuser of the word f*ck. This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. Andy and Nick/Thunder were such a great couple. The chemistry and romance between them was so much fun to experience. Great romance and can’t wait read more of the Desert Phantoms crew.
DNF. Honestly I clocked out really early on this one. You really can't tell with these books anymore. To be fair to the author, what I read at first was really making me want to read more. That's not usually the case. However, when it went from progressive to trope-ville I was bye bye. I really thought I was gonna like it and maybe I will if I ever finish it but for now nah. I'm not sure I need to explain the trope at this stage but I will. Homegirl starts really cool, very self assured with big clit energy. AWESOME and powerful presence. She manages to sleep with the male lead without knowing him (just knowing of him) and it's apparently wild and amazing for them. She rocked his world and leaves him wanting more. We then get and entire explanation that he pines after her with his dick in many placeholders for three years because he's a ho. Don't worry, he's thinking about her each time. Coincidentally she just happens to get amnesia right after sex with him the first time and when next we are introduced to her (which is right after his erotic recap of the three years he was ho-ing including him about to ho in the present) we immediately are told by her friend that she now "lives like a nun". By her own words, despite being a badass in the beginning she is chaste because she feels like something "important" happened that she cannot remember. Ofc what happened was just the sex with the lead who is a stranger she doesn't know, who willingly partakes in the flesh of many women while being well aware of her existence and how special their encounter was. So special. To recap, he remembers everything and despite it being very impactful upon him it's not enough for him to be chaste. She remembers NOTHING and is chaste for no goddamn reason but to remain pure for the hero. Fictional FGM.
5 star Review Thunder (Desert Phantoms MC #1) by Verlene Landon
Verlene Landon is a new author to me. I was drawn in and totally invested in Nick (Thunder) and Andy’s story. Retiring from the military Thunder seeks out another brotherhood as he is patched in to The Phantoms.
For three years, Thunder has been haunted by a passionate interlude with a mystery woman, never forgetting that night. Imagine his shock when she walks into a club party and appears to have no memory of that night.
Thunder is furious and is determined to re connect with her. From the first chapter I was hooked not only on the story but also the writing style of Verlene Landon.
Andy is such a strong heroine and one that I admired, she could certainly give as good as she got and don’t get me started on the totally alpha Thunder, I love him. There was humour, miss communication and plenty of chemistry between Andy and Thunder which made for a great read.
The secondary characters, particularly Lexi, were entertaining and this was a great start to the series and I cannot wait to read the next book.
“Thunder” Desert Phantoms MC. Book 1 By Verlene Landon So I have to start off by saying this is a new to me Author and she did not disappoint. I will really fu€king love this book. And if that word offended you, this might not be the book for you. I really love the main characters of this book. Andy is the bada$$ we all want to be and Thunder is the perfect Alpha type. This book had a little bit of everything, I laughed, I cried and I cheered. I’m pretty sure Lexi is my soulmate and I need her as a best friend. I do not think you’ll be disappointed in this book. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
Thunder is my introduction into the written world of Verlene Landon. It is also the cornerstone in the Desert Phantom MC Series Series. What a fast and furious beginning ride. I expect a MC story to be rough and hard hitting. Thunder lived up to my expectations.
Nick and Andrea have so much in common. Tough pasts which haunt their present day existences, a passion for MMA fighting, quick tempers, and set of fiercely loyal friends who would protect them with their lives make for an unforgettable tale. These two even share a 20 minute period of time together that changes both of their lives forever.
Thunder is a good start to the Desert Phantom MC Series. It contains many unique elements that I found quite interesting. The characters have such vibrant personalities. Dialogue is quick, funny, and witty. The relationships between the members of the MC and the women associated with the club are intense.
It will be fun to find out which of the Desert Phantoms is featured in the next book from this series. Whoever it is will no doubt have a story equally as intriguing as Nick and Andy's.
Thunder and Andy This is a great first book to the series and I can’t wait for more. These two actually met 3 years ago but for some reason it was not remembered by her. Andy is a fighter (literally) and a tattoo artist who does ink for a lot of the MC club. She used to be a take no prisoners I am in charge kind of sexy woman until something happened. Thunder joined the Phantoms shortly after he got out of the military and loves his new band of brotherhood. He has been pining away for someone he met 3 years ago who ghosted him. This story takes you on a journey through a bit of the MC lifestyle and how others interact with them. I love these guys and cant wait for each one to have a story. This is a fantastic book and I highly recommend it. Sisters Spotlight 💕
This is the first in a new series and this is Nick / Thunder and Andy’s story. Thunder has retired from the military and is now a patched member of the Desert Phantoms, and he is haunted by the memory of a mystery women who shared a passionate night together. Three years later Andy walks into the clubhouse, and Thunder is not impressed when she has no memory of their night, and he is determined to reconnect with her. Andy is now wallflower, and she gives as good as she gets. This is a well written story which has undeniable chemistry, romance, humor, witty banter, miscommunication, and is an entertaining and steamy compelling page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This was my first book by this author and I’m really impressed. I loved her writing, the characters, the plot, it was really intriguing and caught my attention since I read the blurb. I loved Thunder’s personality, alpha, possessive, protective, but also sweet. He didn’t have an easy life and he’s haunted by memories from a night with a stranger that happened years ago. Andy’s is amazing, she’s a badass, strong, doesn’t take shit from no one and I loved her for it. And the chemistry between them...damn I could see the sparks through every word. It was hot af. This was a great book to start this series and I can’t wait to read more about these characters 🖤
Their first meeting isn't exactly a "meet cute". She walked away --a ghost. He didn't forget her even though he wasn't the relationship kinda guy. Three years later she entered their clubhouse and totally ignored him as if it never happened. He didn't know about a concussion and TBI.
The MC isn't a rough one. Their relationship isn't easy but he's determined. She's gone through enough that she doesn't plan on getting with any man. I like the club and its goals and members. It was a good beginning to a series I'm still reading and enjoying. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
I enjoyed this book a lot. Thunder is a fun character and I like that Andy is a different type of female lead. Andy’s muscular and more stacked in a different way than the typical biker girl used in these books. Plus she’s a fighter and feisty. I enjoyed the writing and chemistry between the characters, and there’s plenty of hot scenes. I do wish that the author spent a bit more time describing how the characters looked and more time on them falling in love. It felt a bit rushed, especially since some of the drama in the book came about because of constant miscommunications. Overall it’s a fun start to this MC series.
Rated: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3.5/5 Heat: 🔥🔥🔥3/5 Angst: 🖤🖤2/5 This was a quick paced tale of strangers finding and losing each other in a single night. Years later, Thunder still thinks about that night, longing for the woman who ghosted. Andy knows there's something she's missing, but after a fight she can't remember what that something is. The two track their journey in finding themselves and each other, but years and differences can be a make or break. I really like Verlene's stories, I just wasn't held in as much as I wanted to be.
Andrea is a kick but and take names later kind of woman. Killer is the fighter she has admired from afar but finally takes the initiative to do something about it. Their encounter is mind blowing and life changing but she's late to her event and doesnt have time to cuddle. Her event changes the course of her life and makes her encounter with Killer a memory she does forget. Killer has joined his life long brotherhood in the Desert Phantoms. He is now known as Thunder, is their enforcer and has been obbessed with finding the mystery woman who seemed morenthan perfect for him. When she walks into a club party, he takes immediate action to have her again and again. What transpires the next morning, neither of them will recover from, maybe. I loved Andrea. What she has gone through is not for the weak. Her resolve to pick herself up time and again, to keep going is admirable. It takes her a long time to begin to find the woman that shes lost. As for Thunder? He is the big bad biker, alpha male that i adore. He is unapologetic in what he wants but is willing to try new and unexpected feelings for Andrea. He too has a past that has shaped how he is. It too is not for the weak but his resolve to be more is so, so, i cant even think of the right word! Sexy, swoony, and down right I-want-him-to-be-mine. Verlene Landon has made a fan for life out of me.
After a passionate meeting, she is the one that got away. She then haunts the thoughts of Nick/Thunder. After searching for her, she walks into his club out of the blue, with no memory of him. This book is a fantastic read; the characters have passion and chemistry galore. Andy is a strong female and will give as good as she gets. Thunder is your swoony alpha with a past. The connection is there, but it takes work to figure things out. I like the snarky humor that this author brings to her stories. The secondary characters have me looking forward to the next book in the series. With its rom-com vibe and southern sass, I recommend this book.
This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and for me it was just an ok book. I like the idea of the story, but I think her concussion/20 minute memory loss just felt so drawn out. I’m not a big fan of everyone being naive about communicating, where one conversation could have solved the problem. I also didn’t feel much of a romantic connection between the main characters until probably the last few chapters. The author has some good humor in her books though, I did laugh out loud a few times! This is still worth the read.
Thunder starts the book off what a bang! Literally! And he can tie me up anytime. Andy is a bada$$ chick in the start, until a head injury causes some memory loss- including a tryst with Thunder! They have some miscommunications, but they definitely have a connection. Of course when push comes to shove, they get their heads out of their rear ends and get things figured out. I loved this book, and I can’t wait for more of the Desert Phantoms MC!
This series is going to be fantastic and I cannot wait for more. I love Andy. She’s fierce and sassy and not to mention determined. Nick is a hot alpha that would do anything to protect who he loves, even if it means acting like an idiot. These two have insane chemistry. Lexi is my spirit animal and I we get more of her in other books....which I hope we also get. This has the steam and drama that makes you excited for more.
This was my first read by this author and I was pleased with the book. Even though this is labeled an MC it also included a bit of military and MMA. Nick (Thunder, aka Killer) and Andrea have a chemistry that is off the charts. They each have friends who stick by them through thick and thin. Love the twists and turns this book takes. Looking forward to reading more stories of the Desert Phantoms MC.
Book one in the Desert Phantoms MC Series. Thunder has an amazing night with a bad ass girl one night after a fight. She took everything he had to give and he wants more nights. The problem she never came back. Years later She comes to a club party and ignores him as if that night never happened. Thunder won’t give up easy. She will remember their night. Even if he has to whisper it to her. Can’t wait for the next one .
This book catches you from the very beginning! It's hot right from the start. I think the story flowed and didn't have any holes. You will fall in love with all of the characters. Thunder and Andy really meshed together. I wanted to throttle them with the miscommunication that happens but I know we need that for the story! lol I can't wait to see where the story goes for each of these bikers!!
After one meeting that was full of passion and desire Thunder thought Andy was the one that got away. But something happened and when they meet again she doesn't remember him or thier night together. Will she remember? Will he what he wants? These characters are written with so much passion that sometimes I wanted to be in the story.
I'll start by saying Varlene Landon is new to me. I loved the heat between Thunder and Andy , the way the mc and best friends had their backs and the and the dynamics of them all. I hurt for Thunder and Andy at the same time wanting to smack some sense into each of them. I'm looking forward to what happens with a certain couple of characters in the future.
This author was new to me and I wasn't disappointed. This is the story of Thunder and Andy who, after a steamy one night stand, are kept apart by circumstances for 3 years. The characters have great chemistry, you will laugh, cry and yell. Best friend Lexi will make you laugh with her sarcasm and one liners.
Verlene is a new to me author and I was blown away with how much I loved this book. Thunder (Nick) is exactly how I pictured him and I was drawn in by the first few pages. Andy is a firecracker and is loveable from the get go. These two have the perfect chemistry and set this book on fire. I am now a huge fan of Verlene and cannot wait to read more!
I started these books out of order, (started with Styx and realized I missed something) but got back on track. I love the characters and the author has a great way of making them feel like friends in reality. And oh are they hot! Looking forward to reading the whole series!
Oh wow. What a start to a series. It had me hooked. I couldn't put book down once started.
I loved Thunder and Andrea together, they had a rocky start because what happened. But they can't keep away from each other. Thunder finally let's his feelings out, and supports Andrea after what she goes through. Andrea makes Thunder better and more calm.
This was a new to me author. While it was a good start to a series, I struggled to fully connect with both characters and plot. Every time I was almost there, the steam would ramp up or one of them would say or do something stupid. Still interested in rest of the series and diving into book 2 now.
I loved this story so much! Thunder is HAWT!!!!! like seriously that man could crack me open, tie me down, and do all the naughty things.... but Andy!!! That woman is such a warrior queen, quirky and fierce and lovable. The whole MC was like getting a new family i never knew i needed!! P
Thunder By Verlene Landon is book one in the Desert Phantoms MC series. I've been a huge fan of Verlene's books for a while, and I haven't I say that this book did not disappoint. Thunder and Andy are amazing and I can't wait to see what's in store for this series.
This was a new to me author. I found this to be a very intriguing book. I enjoyed learning about Thunder and where he came from. What he went through to get what he needed to be complete. Andy, is a strong willed woman that has hard a hard life, until she meets Thunder.
