Lot of good, basic information about the origins of the Bible, this booklet is broken into two parts that can easily be read in an afternoon.

The first part is how we got the Bible, discussing different manuscripts, who the authors are, when they were written, why these books were considered for canon, etc. Everything in this section can be found in any study Bible. Unfortunately, it only goes over the traditional Christian narrative, not even mentioning alternative theories to Biblical origins. Granted, this is "made easy", but part of me likes it when other theories are at least mentioned, even if not given serious consideration. After all, most Study Bibles at least talk about the Documentary Hypothesis, taking it seriously, if not treating it as fact.

The second part is easily the best, which is a timeline of manuscript discovery, English Bible translations, and doctrinal disputes related to it. I loved this because it really puts into perspective how much the Bible has stayed true, despite both secular and Christian efforts to attack it through a variety of means. While the first section can be in any study Bible, this timeline was compiled through a lot of effort and makes this booklet worth purchasing for the timeline alone.

In short, this is pretty basic knowledge about the Bible and how we got our current translations (as the title suggests) and ends with a phenomenal timeline more Christians should be familiar with.

A fun and easy read about how we got the Bible. It’s not a deep dive, so I would recommend something else if you want to become an expert.
