Born in 1921, Rhiannon Davies Jones is a Welsh-language novelist, known primarily for her historical novels. She was awarded the Prose Medal at the 1960 National Eisteddfod in Cardiff for her novel Fy Hen Lyfr Cownt. She won the Prose Medal again four years later at the 1964 National Eisteddfod in Swansea for her novel Lleian Llanllŷr.
