I've been obsessed with this series from the start and the final book in the trilogy is everything I hoped it would be. I was hooked throughout and there were so many twists and unexpected turns that had me gasping aloud, even squealing at some points. Shana Vernon has an amazing story-telling ability and the world she creates is completely immersive.

In The Assassin's Crown Lenna and her friends search for the final pieces to the puzzle they've been trying to put together and it's far from a smooth ride. Lenna's been on a hell of a journey since she first joined the Guild and this final book is as much if not more of a rollercoaster than the rest with emotions getting complicated and relationships being tested.

Lenna and Luka can't ignore the feelings and chemistry between them, every time they're alone together the tension is sexually-charged and all I wanted was for them to admit their feelings for each other and just take the leap, but things never go as planned and there's so much against them. It's a good thing Lenna knows how to fight for what she wants!

The development of Lenna's character over the whole series is one of main reasons I love The Hybrid Chronicles. In Book 2 Lenna followed a darker path of revenge and murder but now in Book 3, Lenna has to learn how to move forward and how to protect the people she loves who are still alive. She has to learn how to create a better future, one where no species is treated as less than another. It's a deep, empowering journey which deals with some of the darkest aspects of human nature while still showing hope and prospects of a better way of living. Watching Lenna develop as a person is moving and resonates with me.

I also love the introduction of Kasai, a fearless gladiator whose upbringing has parallels with Lenna's but the details of her life are a lot darker, and contain even more secrets - even a fundamental part of the puzzle. Her language is creative and her personality is direct and, to start with, lacking emotion. She doesn't know what love is. But Lenna and the gang welcome her and are willing to work towards helping her trust them. Kasai's development throughout the novel is inspiring, she understands very little when she meets Lenna but despite this she's intuitive and intelligent and I found myself rooting for her from the very beginning. Plus her panther companions are brilliant, their running commentry (which only Kasai can understand) is hilarious.

There are some incredibly empowering moments especially towards the end which made me feel like I'm also capable of anything, and shows how Lenna won't take any shit when it comes to defending her friends and innocent lives which get caught in the crossfire. I love these scenes so much, Lenna's always been badass but in this final book she takes it to a whole new level. Despite having had friends and family members betray and hurt her, she comes back stronger every time and it's beautiful to see.

There are also so many things I fangirled over while reading this but I don't want to give spoilers, so all I'll say is this book is an amazing, well-written end to a great series which I will definitely be re-reading in the future! The ending made me cry happy-tears, I'm sad it's over but so glad it ends the way it does.

That was a really fun ride! This book ended the series perfectly and it exceeded all my expectations. I love how it focuses on friendships and on the characters’ developments. The writing style very smooth and easy to understand which helped me breeze through the book. And the world-building 🙌 I was utterly amazed!

The best thing about this series aside from the action is definitely the friendship and the unexpected sibling relationship. The diversity of the characters and how they their bond developed was heartwarming. They’re all so endearing and I love how close they are like family. This got to be one of my favorite found family crew.

I wasn’t prepared for all the revelations and twists. I didn’t think too much about it so I was really surprised cause I was too focused on what was happening lol since there were so much going on. I can’t believe how much I got invested in this series that I always stayed up late reading because I couldn’t put them down. And I devoured this book in a few hours!

“I see you. Every broken, dark, and ruthless part of you, and I love it all.”
THIS LINE WAS EVERYTHING!

The romance! I loved it when Luka started getting all possessive and jealous. They’re both really mushy and cute making me feel single over and over again 😭 and I’m still swooning over their cute pet names.

PS : This book made me cry ugly early in the morning. But the ending was so beautiful I couldn’t ask for more.

Sending love to the author for sending me ebook copies of the whole series ♥️ Looking forward to your next book!

What a series ending that was!
It was intense, and heartfelt. It was empowering and dangerous and at times raw.
I loved the character growth in this series, and book 3 brought our favorite Assassin to places I never thought possible. Vernon managed to flip all of my expectations here, and made me feel a wide range of emotions as I devoured the pages of this book.
She ensured that all of my favorite characters had ample page time, and showcased their own unique brands of badassery throughout. She continued the amazing world-building that I fell in love with in earlier books, creating new and wonderfully-terrifying places, sassy characters (Kasai I'm looking at you) and threw our favorites into dangerous situations that had me worried we'd lose them all.
There were sweet and tender moments too - and again, Vernon gave me all the Squadgoal feels. I loved that the importance of friendship played a massive role in this series, not just romantic love.
I felt that this book brought the series to a perfect close, and for the characters that lived to see the final pages, their arcs were done in individually great ways.
I'm looking forward to seeing what else Vernon gives us in the future - hopefully more in this world as I'm not ready to say goodbye to our crew yet!

She got her revenge, but now she has a target on her back and will need to find allies to survive the coming fallout.

This is book three of the series. The book works fine as a standalone, but I recommend starting at the beginning so you get the full effect.

This is something of a paranormal action adventure story with a young adult feel to it. The story is well written, and easy to read. The characters are well done and I have enjoyed watching them grow throughout the series. Each book has been better than the last, which is always nice. Overall, it made for a fun adventure and I look forward to more in the future.

Highly recommended.

Beautifully written conclusion to The Hybrid Chronicles. Shana continued to provide strong characters who grew throughout the story, as well as a well-developed world with lots of imagery.

Lenna faced many trials and tribulations from family and friends in this heart-wrenching journey. Along the way she faced disappointment and loss, but she remained true to her calling as a "little assassin". In the end she finds herself with a new family, so by blood and some by fate. I appreciated the epilogue which gives the reader a glimpse into a somewhat normal life for an assassin and a vampire prince.

** I received a free ARC copy of this book and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the third book in the Hybrid Chronicles series. I enjoyed the book overall. I think it was genuinely more fast-paced than the first two, in order to wrap the series up. A lot of things happen in this book.. pretty action-packed, with some romance thrown in. The romance of course is one of my favorite parts and it was actually a lot better than I thought it would be when starting the series. I enjoyed reading about all of the characters and how they grow throughout the book. It's definitely a series I would recommend for anyone interested in YA and vampires.

I really enjoyed this series. It has a good storyline, lots of action, likeable characters. The only thing it doesn't have is editing, it was riddled with typos, missing words and just all around poor punctuation.

I marked this as unique for one reason only. The FMC ends up with a different main character from the start of the series. In the hundreds of romance series I've read, I have seen this just 3 or 4 times. I find this quite refreshing and very realistic.

Would still recommend in spite of the errors.

2.5 stars This was the weakest of the three books – kind of a hodge podge with everything and the kitchen sink all thrown in and jumbled together. Suddenly we get a brand new POV from a brand new character with a whole back story and secret powers, birth secrets hidden royalty - are we supposed to care. I didn’t. There is a whole new dimension with Fae and new villain but just thrown in at the last minute which made it seem weird and unfinished. And the whole thing with her mother seemed random and last minute too.

A full-on power packed story coming to an end gave me jitters. I’m delighted to see Lenna’s course of action to the betrayal that takes place. She came a long way since the story started and has worked very hard on gaining her strengths. I felt a little rushed here, the story moved too fast to understand once day court came into the picture and after a few chapters, it became normal. We see a lot of action in this book along with the slow burn romance of Lenna and Luka. The trilogy got wrapped up in a very pretty way.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars. The benefactor's identity was a nice little surprise in the continuation of Lenna's story. Overall, I enjoyed the plot through the books but really feel like they could have been built into something much more intricate with further development; deeper emotional connection to the characters and less glossing over the 'in between' points of the books.

Great for a reader who wants something fast paced.

Wow

I really enjoyed this series. I read all three books in just a couple days. It is not often I find something that captivates my attention do throughly. What I really liked is that it brought a little realism into fantasy. I cried at the losses and smiled at the wins. Good job!

This was an interesting conclusion to the series. Book 3 had action, suspense, a bit of mystery, and lot of drama. The female lead had more to accomplish when she thought her goals were achieved, and she took it in stride. The characters were intriguing and made the story more interesting.

Thanks to the author for sending me a copy of this book to review.
The finale to The Hybrid Chronicles by Shana Vernon. Lenna is now working with the vampires and her comrades to help the hybrids the guild is targeting. Sofia discovers she is pregnant, her relationship with Lenna was great to read. We meet some new interesting characters, including Kasai, a hybrid of royal descent with an interesting gift. Lenna goes to Ibrida with her brother to meet her mother, a very interesting encounter and not what she expected. Lenna and Luka travel to The Night Court to try and get support from the Queen. Lenna and Lukas relationship develops romantically and they also discover who the benefactor is. So much happens in this book! Action packed and quite emotional at times. The ending was pretty epic! Overall a great conclusion to a very enjoyable series.

This was such a THRILLING CONCLUSION to an incredible action packed fantasy series! I found myself hooked in and shocked by all the twists and turns that occurred.

The plot held intense moments some being powerful, raw, emotional, dangerous and heartfelt. They either made me cry or laugh.

The development of Lenna’s character was so well written being realistic which I appreciated. She cared so deeply despite her bloodthirsty and vengeful nature. I loved the introduction of a new, fierce gladiator character who was a an exciting new addition to the group of side characters.

By the end I was happy with all the individual character arcs and admired how there was so much emphasis put on friendship being portrayed as one of the most important aspects and playing an overly massive role throughout all the novels within this series.

The romance just got more addicting having the sexual tension almost tangible which I personally loved every moment of! Another new OTP would definitely be Luka and Lenna!

The ending was a very appropriate and perfect - although slightly predictable - conclusion to this trilogy.

Overall, HIGH RECOMMEND this trilogy to fantasy lovers!

“The Assassin’s Crown” is book three in Shana Vernon’s The Hybrid Chronicles. This picks up from the events of The Assassin’s Revenge.

I don’t know where to start with this review, so many great and wonderful things happen that it’s really hard to pin point my favourites.

Lenna has gotten her revenge but now there is a target on her back and another hybrid. She must find allies to help bring the finally pieces together. Lenna and her friends find themselves racing against time. Someone close to Lenna betrays her which finds herself in more trouble than she thought.

Things between Lenna and Luka are heating up, whenever they find themselves alone the sexual chemistry is off the charts. So many times I found myself on the edge of my seat waiting and hoping for them to take that chance and admit their feelings, but something was always getting in the way.

I loved watching Lenna’s character grow from the beginning of this series. In the first book she was a little naive and single minded in her mission to find her father, in book two Lenna travels down a very dark and dangerous path of murder and revenge, and finally in this book we see another side of Lenna, we see her coming to terms of the loved ones she has lost, the relief of getting revenge, the need and urgency to protect and care for the loved ones still around and then last taking a leadership roll.

We are introduced to new and wonderful characters, we get to meet Kasai, another hybrid that is a target from the Guild. Kasai’s life hasn’t been easy so trusting Lenna and the gang isn’t going to be easy for anyone to handle.

I have really enjoyed reading this series watching Lenna go from a stand-off character with a single focus and no one around her, to being a strong lead in a group of friends with close bonds and relations. I’m a little said to say goodbye to these characters, they have all left a little piece of them in my heart and I look forward to reading them again in the future.
