Threads

Rate this book
Spools of thin twisted woven and spun fiber used to produce fabric or a needle pulling long colorful strings through material are among the images brought to surface by the mind when the term "thread" is mentioned. But "thread" might also be used to describe the process of interweaving, lacing, putting together, blending, or making one's way through an ordeal. Life is a continuous presentation of threading. As threads ourselves, we are woven into fabric among strands of various colors, thicknesses, different types of material, and lengths. As the fabric is embellished and enlarged, added strength may come from working together as though we were braided with other cords or yarn to produce unbreakable bonds. Sometimes, we act as loose threads, where an unfortunate circumstance has cut us off from the main fabric, we find ourselves at odds with our surroundings, or we need to be united or reunited with the tie that binds. Like a seamstress or quilt maker, God is waiting in the wings to take us as a loose thread or one from a new spool and blend us into His fabric, His community, and into His fold of followers. With His tools, He provides the necessary method to pattern our life according to His will. As threads of His, we bond tighter into a mass of one accord with threading that can never be successfully severed or broken.
