Rate this book
A widowed Englishwoman with a difficult past and a battle-weary broken Highlander come together in a tale of redemption.

Haunted by a dark past and resolved to a loveless future, Greer Hastings has accepted her lot in life. She will marry a man of her uncle’s choosing to better their family’s station. First, however, she will see her friend and her children freed from her uncle’s clutches. An impossible feat. Or so it seems until her long-lost mother returns alongside a Scotsman who makes an offer she can’t refuse.

Teagan MacLauchlin will do whatever it takes to see through the pact he made with his brothers. Marry to fill the clan’s coffers. What he doesn’t expect is a lass as broken as he on the other side of that bargain. Someone truly in need of saving. Determined to free Greer from her greedy uncle and depraved fiancé, he’ll do anything to get her out of there. Even if it means bringing the wrath of two English barons down on his head.

Embarking on a dangerous rescue mission in hostile territory, Teagan and Greer navigate the treacherous English-Scottish border on an adventure for the ages. One fraught with not just the monsters chasing them but the demons from their past.

Can two damaged hearts come together amidst so much turmoil? Or will what haunts them ultimately drive them apart?

A really lovely book full of emotional chemistry between Teagan and Greer .

All we’ve seen so far in this series is how damaged ,and possibly dangerous to others and himself, teagan is.

What we see here is him in his element.
Exploring and helping Greer cope with the damage war, her Uncle and husband have done to her.
And now she has Bartholomew her intended to deal with.

She lives inside her own head a lot of the time.
Teagan sees what’s in his own life , relates and slowly brings her back to a caring and loving relationship, both as a partner and friend.

Very good read . Recommended especially if you’ve read the others in the series.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

After years of battling in France and then on behalf of Scotland's King David II, had taken its toll on the people and on Teagan. He was a tormented soul but was determined to bring Greer home, who was daughter to a friend of his sister in law.

Greer was under her uncle's rule and he was making her marry a miscreant for money. But when Tegan and her mother arrived, she could not believe it!

There was a strong connection, love at first sight almost when they saw each other and Teagan was going to rescue her. He could tell she needed saving and yes, he did too.

A wonderful story of two people who need each other and the journey they take!

A pawn in the hands of her uncle, Greer survives the best way in which she can, by spending time in prayer and holding internal conversations. When a warrior-hero accompanied by her mother and an old friend, arrives at her uncle's stronghold, Greer experiences unexpected feelings and an attraction that she cannot explain, little realising that Teagan has come for her. With a plan in place, Teagan makes it his business to interact with Greer, although she is carefully watched, which makes it difficult. Despite the background to the story and the horror that both Teagan and Greer have lived through, there are lighter moments that bring some humour. The story is generally well written, fast-paced, and exciting, making it an enjoyable book to read. However, I found the use of modern phrases and terms a little jarring in a medieval story, as well as the continual lead into upcoming events, warning the reader that there was trouble afoot. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This is Greer and Teagan's story and I must say, I really enjoyed it! My heart went out to both characters for what they've been through and what they're still going through. Two tortured souls who find each other and help each other heal.

The daring rescue, the danger filled escape, secrets that are told, twists and turns that make the story very interesting, surprises, finding out honesty is the best way, some humour, heated passions....you get all of it in this story.

Greer is such a broken lass and it takes a man like Teagan, himself a broken man, to give her confidence, to show her she's important and to give her the freedom she's always craved for. As for Teagan, I love how kind, gentle and patient he is with her. He really is a true hero!!

Despite his knucklehead notion he didn’t have it in him to love, Teagan took one look at Greer, the gorgeous, selfless, protective, caregiver type heroine, and he was completely smitten. Nothing nor anyone was going to get in his way of protecting her and ultimately claiming her for his own. Sure, plans had been set into play beforehand, but regardless of all that, he’d have chosen her, folks. He was pretty much top grade A book boyfriend material, my fellow romance loving friends.

The story line moved at a surprisingly slow pace for some time as these two sneaked in regularly scheduled stolen moments, conversations, and strolls, which ultimately turned into steamy scenes. Things, of course, pick up when they are forced to finally make a move to dodge the enemy they knew were coming for them.

Sorry but I’m not sorry I found it weird the imaginary conversations Greer kept having that always prefaced with “what Margery would have said”. Then Greer would reply back aloud. No wonder people thought she was touched in the head. I felt embarrassed for her being scripted that way. Just didn’t see the point or necessity of that all too repetitive element being thrown in that particular way. Yes, an obvious connection is revealed near the end that I had already figured out. But I still found it tiresome and unnecessary.

There are two eyebrow raising coincidences or twists thrown in that you may or may not see coming. One of them I definitely did, the other not so much. The first one being obvious to me with the latter being a convenient ploy/explanation/means to explain some things and getting everyone moving on with their pieced back together lives.

There’s an epilogue that rounds things out in a HEA feel good conclusion. I know some readers especially like to see that touch added to their romantic reads.

I really wanted to love this book, a Scottish setting, with a fierce highlander, a strong leading lady trying to survive the hardships facing her but something was missing for me. This is a new to me author and a new to me series. I am not sure if not reading the previous books in the series has made a difference or not but I found I could follow the story and background without too much difficulty. But I think reading them would have given me a better understanding of Teagans past and his brothers.

This book follows the story of Greer, held basically prisoner by her Uncle she lives a like of servitude and sorrow. She is a pawn in her Uncles hands and she is just waiting for him to marry her off to the highest bidder. Then her long lost Mother arrives with a plan to save her Daughter by wedding her to Teagan MacLauchlin. He agrees to the marriage to better his clans lives but he gets more that he bargained for when he meets Greer and realises all the pain and hardship she has faced throughout her young life.

Although I like the characters in the book, I think the ending paragraph telling me what was suppose to happen int he next one drove me mad, especially when sometimes it didn't. I did enjoy the story but not sure I would rush to read any other in the series which is a disappointment for me as I am always looking for a new Highland series.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for giving me a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Oh, I wanted to like Scoundrel's Redemption so so much. From the description, I expected a few hours of blissful escapism: a Highlander, a brave woman with a brutal past. Drama. Passion. And it started out very promising.

Teagan MacLaughlin journeys into England to rescue Greer Hastings (and wed her for her dowry, hence the "Pact" part of the trilogy name). Greer is more or less her uncle's prisoner; he's already married her off once before and plans to do so again. But Teagan and Greer's mother have a plan.

First I must must confess that I didn't read the first two books in this three-book series. It's very possible that there were some plot points that carried through the first two books into this one and that this book just doesn't flow as a stand-alone novel.

BUT. I just struggled with this book. When I swiped (ebook) the last page and saw an epilogue, I actually groaned out loud. I just wanted it to be over.

Why though? I liked both Teagan and Greer very much, as well as several supporting characters (especially Ana). I just wish we knew more about them, but so much of their separate pasts as well as their shared present is glossed over. Then, when something does come up, the author doesn't let the characters talk it out; instead she just sort of summarizes what the characters talked about. It was weird. Also, nearly every chapter ends with cliffhanger-ish language that I quickly realized never delivered. It became almost comical.

In the end, the conflict doesn't end up being that dramatic or satisfying, so the resolution falls equally flat.

I really don't like being negative, and as I said earlier, the author's fans who've read books 1 and 2 will probably love it. It just didn't work for me.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

Scoundrel's Redemption by Sky Purington is the third in the series, Highlander's Pact, about the three MacLauchlan brothers who had returned from war in France to find their clan in ruins. Now it is the youngest, Teagan's turn to marry and bring a goodly financial sum into the clan so they can all survive. There is a plan Greer Hastings had been left behind with her uncle when her mother and sister ran. She was to join the, but the summons never came. Instead, her uncle married her to a cruel old man in order to reap political benefits. Her father had run to join his family, leaving Greer behind without even a good-bye. Since her mother, Cecille, and sister, Juliana, were now safely ensconced in Scotland with the MacLauchlans, Teagan and his friend, Edmund were to journey to England and rescue Greer. They had a plan, a good one. Then Teagan was to marry Greer to secure her dowry, which was sizable. He wouldn't love her. He didn't believe in love but maybe he could like her.

An amazing transformation took place with Greer when she was treated with respect after years of being abused and overlooked by her uncle and husband, and now by the next man to whom her uncle had betrothed her. She transformed from mousy to beautiful without changing her appearance at all. She discovered love was possible, as well as liking a man and speaking with him as an equal. This was worth the book. It was not a lengthy book but it was a powerful one. Good storyline. Good characters. Wonderful theme. I recommend it.

Scoundrel’s Redemption is part of a series, but it’s also a stand-alone. This storyline is a pact between 3 brothers to marry women with a dowry that will enable their clan to become more stable.
Teagan the third brother is in a precarious situation because he has come back from the war with P.T.S.D. Conditions. War damages in different ways and being a Scottish Highlander your not supposed to show that you have weaknesses!

The woman who needs saving is Greer Hastings and she is has been manipulated and almost as though she has been partially under the Stockholm syndrome. This is where a person is oppressive and domineering. Poor Greer has a evil Uncle who has been forcing her into one marriage that was hard to endure and now he is trying to strong arm and terrorize her into a betrothal.

Now the author has to meld the plot to bring these two souls together! The author Sky Purington has no difficulty in bringing the readers on a venture that takes us along many paths that we would never imagine. There are a few areas that are slow that could have been streamlined, but overall the book was great!
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a relaxing read.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

What an amazing series. This is a stand alone but has cross over character's that you may get more enjoyment reading the series.

Oh, how I loved the H in the previous stories and he didn't disappoint in this one. He witnessed something and has lost his way. The h has also experienced something and as with the H she isn't the same.

As the story unfolds you learn that the h has a unique way to endure her past. I must admit it took me awhile to get use to what she does. But, then when you get the whole story, my heart ached for her.

I'm not doing spoiler's, but just saying this author has a way of weaving a story that I was totally surprised by two twists - in a great way.

There are a couple fight scene's that will have you on edge. There is lovemaking within marriage, heat level 3 out of 5 if that and only described twice I believe.

I am not going into the blurb because I can't improve on it. Just recommending this author and series.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, epilogue 18 months in the future, nice wrap up with all the character's, HEA, romance, surprises, suspense and some spice. (ljb)

I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review and purchased the published addition.

Teagan is the last MacLauchlin brother to fulfill their pact to find wealthy women to marry and save their Clan. Wounded in spirit by the atrocities of war, he’s not looking for love but he will do whatever he must for family.

Greer’s life is ruled over by men, in a time where many women have no voice her Uncle intends to marry her to a despicable man to form an alliance beneficial to himself, she’s just collateral after all.

Teagan and Greer’s mother set out to save her from a fate even worse than they had imagined. Will they be able to wisk her away from the men who seek to control her and see her safely back to MacLauchlin castle?

Forced on a dangerous journey to escape England, her Uncle and betrothed Greer and Teagan come to understand each other and discover that their lives are intertwined even more than they could ever have imagined. Will they also find friendship or even love?

You’ll have to read the story to find out.

Teagan MacLauchlin is weary of war, he has seen things that haunt him. Knowing he has to do his duty and honor the pact between him and his brothers to marry well for the benefit of the clan is something he knows he has to do.

Greer Hastings has always been used as a pawn and has been through some very difficult times. Greer has no trust for men or family. Having been promised to an abusive fiancée, Greers future looks grim. When her mother unexpectedly shows up with Teagan and a proposition to free Greer from one prospective marriage to another.

As Greer and Teagan come to know one another they both realize that each is broken by events in their past and maybe have a future with each other and a chance to heal. But first they will have to make a dangerous escape.

This was such a wonderful story to read! I loved Teagan and Greer’s story. So well written, it made me fall in love with it. This is the third in a series but a stand alone book. I have read the others and I think you will love them to!,

The MacLauchlin brothers all made a pact to marry to increase their treasure. Teagan MacLauchlin will do whatever it takes to see through his plan to rescue Greer Hastings from her disgusting uncle and the man he wants her to marry. He recognizes another wound soul, he feels he’s found a kindred spirit and he feels he can heal her and maybe in the process start to heal himself. Teagan find a beautiful young woman who is so brow beaten down by her uncle, her husband who died and her new suitor, but she has a silent strength to her he can’t help but admire too. I loved this story of love and redemption as these two navigate their way through the war torn damage they’ve suffered from the war, trying to heal and become normal again with the love, trust and support of the each other and their families. I have voluntarily read and reviewed these excellent story filled with love, redemption and romance.

Out of the dark into the light

Scoundrels Redemption is the third book in the Highlander's Pact trilogy. This series is very entertaining, adventurous, and at times humorous. This book is Teagan's turn to find his wife to fulfil the pact he made with his brothers and what an adventure it was.

Teagan and Cecille travel to Cecille's family home in England to rescue her oldest daughter Greer from her horrible uncle and a fiance that might not be in Greer's best interest. Teagan and Greer have both lived through horrors in life that have broken them in ways they aren't sure can be healed. Working together to save three innocents brought them together, healing each other so they can finally be happy.

This book is the third in the series, I didn't know that going in, and can say that it works wonderful as a stand alone read. The series is about brothers and a pact they make between themselves to rebuild their clan.
This book focuses on the third brother, Teagan, who has some PSTD from the war with France. The relationship between Geer and Teagan is super sweet, and a wonderful slow burn throughout the book. I enjoyed how they understood and helped each other, along with how everything was tied back together through the story.

If you are looking for a good slow burn with an amazing hero, this book will fill that role. I am going to be going back and finding the first two in the series to read because this family of brothers is too much fun.

Greer suffers at the mercy of men who would use her to fulfil their goals. When Teagan MacLauchlin offers her the chance to save her friends in return for marrying him, there is no other choice - but at last, she can make a choice of her own. Greer does not expect to find companionship and respect in her second marriage. Teagan is eager to prove her wrong.

This was definitely my favourite book of the series. It provided a very satisfying conclusion to the brothers' pact and tied up the plot threads laid down in the previous story. Teagan and Greer were just so perfect for each other - both haunted by their pasts and united by understanding and patience. There were also some story developments that I didn't see coming and that was a pleasant surprise. I really loved reading this.

I enjoyed reading the story between Greer and Teagan. Their lives both were filled with hardships and bad experiences. Greer was lonely and felt abandoned after her family left her with her greedy uncle. Never knowing why, they choose to leave her alone with him, she clung to memories of the only friend she ever had. Even though the friend was dead, she communicated with her daily in her mind. Asking for help and trying to remember what she would have told her to guide her along. Teagan suffered the aftermath of war and left he had no love left for anyone. The plot grows as you read the book and you begin to wonder if two damaged souls and find peace.

Teagan MacLauchlin made a pact with his brothers to marry and improve the wealth of their clan.  The horrors he witnessed years ago have left a mark on him that has changed him forever. He feels the need to protect the helpless.

Greer Hastings has suffered a lot at the hands of monsters pretending to be men.  Now she is to be married off to another one.  She is still making plans to help her friend and her children escape.

This is a very emotional story with characters that will tug at your heart strings. It is the final book in the series and brings a lot of family members together but you can still read it on it's own.

Very exciting reading.

This was a good book, but at times it did not hold my attention. It was not as entertaining as the first two books in the series. I did like both characters. I liked Teagan from previous books and Greer was a great addition, although I must say at times I tired of her talking to herself. I also liked Edmund and Ada and wish we could have got more of their story. This book can be read alone, but would be better as a series.

I received an ARC from the Dragon Blade Publishing and Net Galley for an honest review.

Scoundrels Revenge

The long-awaited novel by Sky Putington does not in any way disappoint. This book is a guaranteed page turner one that almost temps you beyond endurance to flip to the end to see how it all comes about. However I strongly encourage you to resist. The journey is more enhanced by waiting until the end. The three brothers making the pact strongly sets the tone for their commitment to their clan and to each other. The people that they encounter along their journey only enhances the book. Truly a great read

Scoundrel's Redemption
by Sky Purington
This is the last book of a series a highland warrior returning from war broken and finds his clan in ruins and discovers he must marry for money to restore his clan to what it should be.

A reasonably well written book about the last of three warrior brothers . I did enjoy this book but I would have liked to read all of the series in order I think it would have made a better read although you can read this a a stand alone 3.5/5

This is the last of a series you don't want to miss.

Though each of the three books can be enjoyed separately you !ight want to read each in order. Wow what a journey it is to read and finish. This is one I will read again because no matter how many times you read each I'm sure I will "see" more than when reading the first time.

Teague and Greer

Exciting novel. Teague and Greer both had had things that were bad situations, a d were keeping their minds persevering on those depressing things. Greer's uncle had just betrothed her to a wicked selfish old man for the second time against her will. Greer's mother and Teague show up to save her. Lots of drama, action, adventures. A great love is born.

Jerky

The story was jerky and sometimes felt like it was written to be a mystery. At the end of a mystery the holes should be filled in. The good guys were likable the bad guys detestable.

This is book 3 in the Highlanders Pack series. A rescue and escape provide plenty of excitement in this story. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first two books so I would know more about the characters, but that's on me, not the author.
