CIGARETTES SEX LOVE
The title speaks loud through the words of Sarjana Atluri, who is twenty-three, addicted to cigarettes, and is confused with love and sex. Recently friend-zoned by the man she loves, she thinks her life may end up resembling her mother’s, who has spent a lifetime pining away for an unfulfilled and unrequited love. But the truth is that Sarjana is different. She desires sex as much as she desires love. In a society that cannot comprehend it adequately, she is often judged and shamed for her perspectives. Nonetheless, she sets herself on a journey to seek answers and to discover herself - what is it that she wants? In her journey, she forges varied relationships and through them, she learns the meaning of life and love and her stand on relationships. She realizes that there may not be answers for everything always, but what is important is that she becomes a better version of herself every day, learning to manage her addictions of cigarettes, her need for love and her desire for sex.
This is a beautiful story and a happy song for everyone about finding love, reconciling relationships and when needed, learning to let go of what you have loved the most.

This book is BOLD.
Lavanya did not hold back and gave it all. Sample this:-
“The one thing that has always baffled me is the contradictions men display in their ideologies and perceptions of women. On one hand, they think that women are inferior to them and on the other hand they need us to satisfy them not just physically, but emotionally too. They want us to love and fuck them unconditionally, but they aren’t ready to give us the minimum respect we deserve.”
"Girls have desires too. We have our fair share of fantasies, fetishes, lust and craving for love. But physical intimacy is complicated to me. I know you will say that I should look at it as a simple hunger or a need of the body. But I don’t see it that way. Attraction can come easily, but affection comes with great difficulty. Once they creep in and settle down, it is hard to get rid of them." I say, fiddling with the doll.
The heroine is an independent working woman who likes sex but not casual sex. SHe wants to have it on her own terms and has no hurry to marry.
" I am not sure if she is lamenting over her brother’s separation from his wife or if she is grieving her own past separation with her lover. I want to cry, too. I want to tell her how being rejected feels. How it is probably far more intense than separation. At least, they have a few good moments to cherish. At least, they made memories. But I do not have any of that. The only memory I have is enough to rip my heart every time I think of it - him kissing someone that was not me. Him kissing her hungrily, as if it was his first kiss ever. Him cupping her face. Him grabbing her butt, as if they were a piece of art. Him running his hands all over her breasts. Also, how did he seem to touch so many things, at the same time, with just two hands? Irrelevant question, but still."
However, there are so many characters that I felt lost. I would have preferred lesser characters and focus on the lead.
All in all 4 stars for the bold depiction of women and their desires.

Astonished and aww struck to read this amazing book ! I have read Lavanya Nukavarapu's earlier work The Captive,a psychological thriller book.But this was a bit different in terms of reading i had this mixed emotion while i will reading the book in Kindle it took me about 2 hrs and yes i am not concious to even utter Cigarettes sex love is the book i read with sumptuous plot about Sarju or Sarjana and her coming of age story.Her relationship with Rohan who she loved more than anything else but the confession makes it harder for both of them with the horrible past of Rohan standing like an one-eyed green monster at last he managed to make it vivid to the person he actually cared for the most.And these entire phase i read i was literally crying and feeling empathy towards them.The language is simple to access and yet it is magnificent because of the diegesis.Otherwise i also admired the way Author gave a beautiful description about the person who is blessed with daughter even if Sarju is adopted her akka loved her unreservedly after aborting her girl child , a guilty which is repaid by transfusing the amour to Sarju,a charcter which was sober and wild at the same time a contrasting personality with extreme desire of having cigarettes and sex let her fall into pit at the end to evolve into a better person she witness at mirror in the climax..!!

The novel ‘Cigarettes, Sex and Love’ authored by Lavanya Nukavarapu and published by Eka publishers Hyderabad is exclusive to Millennium kids. I initially thought exclusive to Millennium girls only. Later I changed my mind because boys need to read this fiction to understand girls better. The novel is a page turner and has so much modern Indian youth can relate to. So I must not spill the details. I always find feminine writing a unique genre. So I look for the writing which only a female can express in feminine writing. Lavanya has given the feminine view of love and relationship. The novel started with a tone of an abstract metafiction. In the last few chapters the novel gripped the speed and twists of a film story. The novel clearly tells the path to give and take love. I find deeply layered an effort to answer two questions ie.’ Is an addiction due to habit or an alter ego?’ and ‘Is sex an act or wholesome expression of love?’ The answers are needed for all age groups. As a reviewer I would suggest such a capable author to use the wide canvas of novel lot more and make the theme dominate entirely. When the theme dominates the role of a powerful character expressing author’s views won’t be needed. Our illusions are almost about everything around us in every walk of life. In love there is a cluster of illusions. Among the illusions the author has chosen possessiveness and focused. The readers must certainly ponder on all illusions. There is no doubt this novel is going to be well received and celebrated but still I would remind the author that what is left unsaid more powerful and impacting.

Best stories resonates with you because they produce an Echo,strikes a chord in your heart, leaves you feeling unsettled and vulnerable and you close the book but still feel like you are left behind lost somewhere in the pages of the book.
This is what this this masterpiece by Lavanya Nukavarapu has made me feel.
I am not talking about the writing style,the plot, the language because this wasn't just fiction for me.
Its something much more, this books gives you a glimpse what every girl goes through in their life when you are a naive, confused girl looking for love.
How you question Everything and Everyone when you feel betrayed by your loved one, and how you try to find comfort in wrong places and all those things leads you to the Right place.
I bet every girl can relate to Sarjana at one point or another.
This is the story of Sarjana, who is in love with a guy who refuses to accept her and she sets out on a self discovering journey to deal with her heartbreak where she learns,lives,laughs and finally finds her home 🌟
Sarjana is real, has an uncanny sense of categorizing people, at times confused and childish but at same time she is a cynic and lost.
I felt deeply for Sarjana, her emotions were strongly conveyed and you can't help but root for her.
And the ending, it was unexpected and completely broke my heart.

Beautifully written and fast paced books. I finished it in a day, its so interesting. I liked Captive book earlier by the same author, that book too was amazing. In this book, the story of Sarjana Atluri is so well depicted, her addiction and confusion is shown. I loved the way story is built and then takes you through multiple phases on the Sarjana's life - a must read for all

Cigarettes, Sex, Love is the second novel by one of my favorite authors, Lavanya Nukavarapu. I had loved her first novel, The Captive. And, I had been looking forward to read her new book ever since she published it. This book is completely different from her first. The Captive was a crime-thriller and this book is a romance and self-discovery kind of story. I would say that I am slightly disappointed with this novel.
Cigarettes, Sex, Love is the story of Sarjana, a young girl who is addicted to cigarettes. At a tender age of 23, she faces failure in love. She is friendzoned by the love of her life. She wishes for love and desires for sex. Her life is chaotic just like her emotions. And to find answers, she sets herself on a journey. She enrolls herself for a writing course and marches on an unknown journey of discovering herself. Will she be successful in this quest? Will she ever be able to get over her first love?
I would start my review with the story. In today's world of Tinder and Bumble, it is difficult to true love. This story also speaks about the same. Feelings today are undervalued. Love is a huge commitment that noone wants. I found the story a bit common and predictable. Young girls and boys are often confused about love and infatuation. Sarjana, the protagonist also faces the same dilemma. The author has also talked about Sarjana's mother and her chance at finding the love of her life. In addition to this, there is Siva and the story of his marriage. The story seemed more like a bollywood movie to me. Dramatic, and bold. It did not offer anything new.
The one thing that I loved about this book is its characters. The author has portrayed the characters really well. You learn more about them as you dive deep into the story. Sarjana is a carefree girl who loves her mother dearly. She would go at lengths to make her mother happy. The characters are well-sketched. I would indeed appreciate the author for the diverse characters in her book. She has portrayed the emotions really well.
The narration is in first person narrative. The simple language and engaging narration makes this book an easy read. I finished reading this book in one seating. It is engaging and nicely written.
As for the takeaways, I would say that I learnt to be patient with your loved ones.

Gripping concept
Book Name- Cigarettes Sex Love
Author- Lavanya Nukavarapu
Review- As the title suggests it is book full of raw needs and reality in its best possible way. The plot revolves around Sarjana who has clearly defined needs but the problem is she is yet to find someone who will accept her the way she is. Her experiences have led to a daunting experience and a nightmare of not being able to find her better half. The society views a girl as someone who is supposed to be shy and not bold and despite the stereotype she desires sex more than she desires love. Being so bold has always been a barrier in her journey to find her soulmate. I really liked her character since she reflects the modern girl and by modern I mean someone who is not ashamed of her wants and the society on the other hand is yet to digest the fact that women and men have similar needs and the stereotypes should have an end in the nearing future. Her journey is really enjoyable as she reflects today’s girl, a girl from the 21st century and it is really tough to find love in today’s world as relationships don’t last longer as the spark within it dims too soon. Falling in love is really a big commitment as it is not about falling for someone but accepting someone with their imperfections. It is a very interesting tale and that narration is quite impressive. The title says a lot which can be unfolded as and when the story subsides.

It was everything that I wished for. I felt an intense rush of emotions while reading it. I would like to offer the heartiest best wishes to the author for crafting this wonderful read.
Sarjana shared a complicated relationship with Rohan. The book revealed her undying love and affection for her beloved. But Rohan repeatedly refused to recognize their bond. He had his own share of complications. And Sarjana’s unrequited love met an unfortunate destination. The storyline displayed such a wide range of raw emotions through both the characters. I absolutely cherished the bond between Sarjana and her adoptive mother.
The character sketch of Sarjana was so vividly represented, her addiction to cigarettes, desire for sex, and craving for a love bond was penned down beautifully. All the detailing was so minutely crafted that it captured my instant interest. I always adore a story where character development took place, and this story exactly offered me so. I joined Sarjana in her quest of self-search, and along with her, I found many things that beautifully shaped my mindset. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.

"If you had sex means you love that person or vice versa" if this is what you think, then you are wrong. Love and sex are two completely distinct terms. Many might consider both as same but they are not.
The story revolves around a 23 years old girl named Sarjana Alluri who is having a complicated relationship with Rohan, as he is constantly refusing to recognize this bond. There is no one she looks up to apart from Rohan. She is addicted to cigarettes and is confused between Love And Sex. She desires sex as much as she desires love. More of the time, she is wrongly judged by the people.

Lavanya Nukavarapu’s “Cigarettes After Sex” is one of the realistic stories on modern love and obviously the “millennium” tag story I had ever came across.
Basically the story revolves around Sarjana Atluri, she’s 23, she’s independent, and she has her own desires for sex… which I suppose everyone has, she’s addicted to smoking and she craves for love. She’s a one-sided lover who is confused between having sex and making love. But she cannot balance her life, which is the most important aspect. She decides to set upon a journey to seek all these answers and to discover herself. Will she be able to identify her worth and manage between the need for love and having sex?
This story is different, has feminine perspectives, but I feel every person, be it any man, of any age, should read it. Everyone should learn to love themselves, and learn the basic difference for the need love and having sex. Definitely recommended. Loved the cover of the book though.

Unique in its own way!!
There comes a time when you get bored of the usual things and stories having same love patterns and endings with a pinch of problems in between. And at that time what you really need is a book which can challenge your thoughts about the usual and general life, the book which presents your inner thoughts and desires which were being suppressed by you because they were not usual and normal.
This book did the same to me through the thoughts, wishes, responds to life and desires of protagonist. The girl addicted to cigarettes and in love with a man who friendzoned her and involved with another girl. Heartbroken she met a girl stranger to her but felt connected because of same life experiences.
This book has a unique plot which makes you think the changing reality of the society. We are experiencing that inner self of every individual is changing, definition of every emotion, love, sex, affection is changing but due to the ethics, rules, principles of this society we are still not ready to accept it.
If you are searching for a unique read which is free from the General rules of the society and represents an individual with changing inner dilemmas and emotions, then this book is for you!!!

Tittle- The tittle of this book is very peculiar in case of choice. The words are very attractive and that's why i decided to have a look. I would really like to appreciate the team for the tittle.
Cover- the cover is beautiful and well designed. The narration of cover matches the story. The cover gives a vibe of cigarette but sex and love could be understand after reading this book.
Blurb- The blurb was very well written. I could find every minimal details like generes, characters, plot, incidents, difference between characters, the main reason for confusion.
Storyline- the main character Sarjana Atluri who is very much addected to cigerattes but faces a huge confusion between love and sex. She likes sex but love isn't her cup of tea. Sex and love is an integral part of our life but different people holds different opinions. Sometimes, our little knowledge about anything forces us to obey what's other doing about it. But, we must wait for the right time to know the differences. The book focuses on very minimal things of our daily life, which we generally ignore. The author Lavanya Nukavarapu did an amazing job in detailing.

I haven't read her earlier book 'the captive', but after going through this I definitely wanna give it a shot. Since the book offered me a lot of questions and thoughts in between which is what a reader anticipates while reading, to enhance his/her thought process and to develop the ability to think and view in multiple dimensions through the viewpoint of someone.
This story speaks about Sarjana Alluri was adopted by Shyla Alluri at her tender age, despite not having her parental acceptance, and is why is treated badly by Shyla's parents but Sarjana was most loved and pampered by her mother(Shyla). The story says about the past of Shyla, Sarjana's (Sarju) obsessions over cigarettes, lust or love or confusion or affection over Rohan, her flings to dissipate her pain, and the contrast of relationships over lust and love. The disclosure of his hidden past by Rohan checked all my questions but the story left its sting within.
Good read and is recommended for all the readers who ought to read something new.

Lavanya Nukavarapu, in her work, “Cigarettes Sex Love,” shows the complications of the life of any individual through the character of Sarjana Atluri. Atluri is the incarnation of the complexities of emotions, which are combined with the societal pressures and the dynamic human nature, which is confused and well-sorted at the same time. Sarjana is a representative of not just the present-day woman but also men who have different emotions and confusions which they are unable to confront yet, seek answers to them. She seems to be the identical product a renaissance man had become in Europe and continues to evolve in present-day India as long as they focus on scientific approaches and the over usage of logic and reason.

As the very title suggests the book is revolving around these three things mainly. Our protagonist, Sarjana is a young independent woman. She is just twenty three years old. She represents the modern society's adult who is undergoing a confusion in herself and also handling the society's different dramas. She is someone who is confused between the feelings she have are serious enough to call it love or just nothing at all. There are numerous characters and each has its own significance in the book. Each character potraited the picture of today's world. Today, we, let it be a make or female are very confused between love and lust and we often think sexual attraction means you are falling in love with that person but currently people are serious enough to get committed and stick around together.

Sarjana is 23 years old and is friendzoned by Rohan. She is often confused with love and sex. Her only solace is cigarettes and she definitely has an addiction. Sarjana comes across men who tries to shame her for her choices and her friend shares her opinion of sex, love and cigarettes.Apart from that love is explained through different perspective through different characters. In today's era, we often mistaken between the need for love and need for sex. There is no rule that shows having sex with someone means you love them, and if you love the person then you need to have sex with them to prove your love. Everyone has there own definition of love, and no two people are same when it comes to love, but it is also true that no two people can love the same, one will always love more, one will always love different, but knowing and accepting that is what is called love.
Rohan and Siruja's way of love is different, but also that of Siva, markand or sammy, none of them had the same kind of love, but their stories were beautiful and different yet wonderful.
I totally see the growth of Radha and also that of Siruja's. Everyone had there own struggle to find their love, to recognize that love, to lose it and yet grow with it and that is what made this story beautiful.

The tittle itself speaks alot about the story of the book, the main character of the book Sanjana Atluri , 23 years old girl who has addiction of cigarettes, crave for sex and confuse about love. I love the boldness of the content of the book which never talked about from the perspective of female. Sanjana who loves a guy who refuses to accept her love and how she discovered about herself and her journey. The story flows along with two characters till end. The language and narration of the book is quite good and events are pretty well connected which never felt abrupt at any given time. This book should read by everyone.
