John P. Burgess (PhD, University of Chicago) is James Henry Snowden Professor of Systematic Theology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is the author of several books, including Holy Rus': The Rebirth of Orthodoxy in the New Russia, Encounters with Orthodoxy: How Protestant Churches Can Reform Themselves Again, and Why Scripture Matters: Reading the Bible in a Time of Church Conflict.

This had a lot of theological insights that I found important for the average person to know. There were moments when the language was dry, but considering the way the man speaks I was not really surprised.
This is a good book if you are interested in the importance of scripture or about helping a Church in crisis. It was not my favorite book (or class) with John, but as always, it was informative.
