Home School Hell With Saint Corona Up To Bat: A Widowed Father's 70 Days In E-Learning Captivity

Home School Hell is for every parent sentenced to remote learning prison, where the simple task of educating our children at home is like catching a murder hornet.
Laugh-out-loud funny, this book wryly captures the humorous daily struggles of a widowed father of four young children. Common Core math, lice shampoo in the eyes, infected Monopoly dice, and Styrofoam heads for pop bottle projects are only the beginning of the chaotic adventures, many of which are now all too familiar to parents turned remote learning teachers.
In between laughs is a poignant letter to his wife, telling her what has happened here on Earth, and how in the year 2020, when everything stopped, we had a better chance to see. The value of a teacher. The courage of those who risk their lives to save ours. The unfairness of disease. How we need hugs, lots of hugs. The gift of time. And the power of humor in the most difficult moments of our lives.
It’s a book not only for parents but every person in this country right now who could really use a smile.

My friend Dave wrote this and I finally got around to reading it. It was funny, witty, sarcastic and heartwarming all at the same time. You don’t have to be a parent or a teacher to enjoy this. You just have to have a heart and want to smile — and who doesn’t want that?!

I am giving this book 3 stars even though I'm more at 2.5ish. This book may have gotten a better review if I had read it a few years from now, but as it stands, it was funny to see the single dad's side of homeschooling and trying to keep it altogether with 4 kids of widely varying ages. It also gave some schooling lessons, so learning, yay. The one thing that bothered me I guess, and maybe because I've read it too soon in the moment, is the author spoke so much about how he feared the virus and taking precautions but in the next sentence he talked about how his kids were freely running around and meeting up with friends, hugging, etc. All in all, entertaining short story with some insight that will probably be a funny look back in a few years...or decades.

I feel your pain

I enjoyed the story, it’s 2022 and Covid is still here, who knew that at the end on this story it was only the bringing. I’m still doing distance learning paired with school time and this week another increase in Covid #’s. We are braver still, optimistic and hopeful after 2 years with no end in sight.

I laughed till I cried and then laughed some more. Wonderful book. You'll catch yourself thinking yep been there done that and at same time covers more serious issues but with humour. Don't pass it up are you will definitely regret it.

The best medicine for 2020! This is a great- picker-upper -- light, easy to read, and definitely entertaining. I am ready to read it again just for the laughs. It will also be good for gift giving -- who doesn't need a good laugh?! That's it, that's it!

This book was about a father, who is a widow. He homeschooled his 4 children when the corona virus stuck. It does have some humor in it with his attempts at homeschooling. I probably would have found it funnier if I had been involved in homeschooling myself. It is a quick read.
