First the Arctic shifters of Kodiak Point, then it was down in the swamps for Bitten Point, but, now, we have the dragons of Dragon Point, those elitist shifters who are far above the rest- or so they say...
But, what they are is secret as in so secret that nobody, even the other shifters, know about them. Or so they thought.
I've enjoyed meeting Eve Langlais' unique, quirky shifters, following along as they go after the baddies in their midst, and delight in their frolicking and sensual romance pairings. Her dragons are going to keep me on my toes.
Dragon Point Collection One features the first three books in the series that connects directly to the Bitten Point series with the first book telling a series side characters' story. I think new listeners/readers will have no trouble jumping in though I did enjoy already being up to speed on the villain and the new hero.
I'll do a little summary for each story and share review thoughts on the collection as a whole.
Becoming Dragon
A fun new paranormal romantic adventure for a poor gator shifter, Brandon Mercer, turned into a monster and a svelte, sassy silver dragon, Amy, who believes he's her match. They are up against Brandon's devious uncle who has his sister.
Dragon Squeeze
Adi knows her time as a free single dragon is quickly coming to an end, but she's on a mission to find a rumored gold dragon hidden away by Parker. Her search takes her to a new research organization and a clever and so delicious-looking hacker who has his own secrets. Dex is acting as tech guy while trying to uncover what is going on behind the scenes at the facility while fighting off his attraction to the vivacious Adi.
Dragon Unleashed
Tomas is an archeologist and collector, a dragon outside a clan because he refused to be used as a breeder, and now captured for experimentation. Chandra is on the trail of a secret lab and discovering the secret behind the anonymous sender's video of an incredible creatures to her only to be captured and placed there herself where she encounters a terrifying dragon who treats his captors disdainfully. They work together to bring down Parker and his new scheme of power. But, there is a twist and a deeper intrigue is emerging that will effect dragons and all others.
I had a good time with all three stories on some level though I think Dragon Squeezed with the irrepressible Adi was my favorite the way she took over tech nerd and undercover operative, Dex's life. The last one had me inattentive a few times and I figured out that I wasn't into Chandra's character that couldn't decide if she were lion or mouse and a whole lot of idiotic choices that got her in need of rescue that she always griped at Tomas for needing. There is humor laced through all the stories and the dragons with their over the top cockiness had me giggling.
Chandra Skye is the series narrator and I enjoyed her work that gave voice to a good-sized cast, caught the humor well, told a smoldering sexy scene, and kept up with the vocalizations of dragons, even. She narrated the Bitten Point series, too, so I was glad she was back for these.
All in all, the Collection is a good one and has me in anticipation of the second collection that will provide the other half of the series especially now that a big series reveal happened at the end of Dragon Unleashed. Those who enjoy fun, sexy paranormal romance should definitely keep this series of the quirky arrogant dragons in mind.
My thanks to Tantor Audio for the opportunity to listen to the book in exchange for an honest review.
