Loved this book! It is sure to be a keeper a as a reminder of just how deeply flawed our country’s political leadership has been over the past 4 years. Never in our U.S. nation’s history has there been a president that demonstrates so many outright blatant lies, racism, narcissism, sexism, authoritarianism, hypocrisy, fraternization with the worst elements of society and world tyrants. The Republican party leaders, all the while remaining silent and allowing this terrible dark curtain to spread over this country. Chet’s illustrations perfectly encapsulate the idiocy, while allowing us to nervously laugh at the absurdity of what is hopefully our past.

What fun! John Lithgow is a well-known actor who also, it seems, writes poetry. The poems rhyme (makes reading them so much more fun) and these two books pick on…well, you can guess. There are explanatory notes for those of us who don’t remember who’s who. Titles for poems include: Trumpty Dumpty (to the rhythm of Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall…), An Ex-Lieutenant General (after a Gilbert & Sullivan tune from the Pirates of Penzance), My Favourite Lies (after Rogers and Hammerstein, My Favourite Things, from the Sound of Music), and others after Mother Goose Rhymes, and so on. He has even drawn cartoons that go with each poem. These are very quick to read books and fun to share.

I really liked this parody of Donald Trump and the tale it shows what can happpen when you have too much power and don't use it wisely. It was also very funny. I received this book for free in a Goodreads giveaway .
