Solitude. I crave it. I’ve sequestered myself into my family’s mansion after my grandfather’s death. I planned to come back but never like this. An accident had me licking my wounds. I’m healed physically, but my shattered soul is trapped in grief. Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy. Not for me. The closer I get to the day, the colder my heart becomes. Fairhope prides itself on the Christmas spirit but it only pisses me off. Each ribbon, bell, light, and song reminds me of my grandfather. My mourning causes a freak snowstorm that locks down the country. Can my unwanted visitor be the one to help me?
Arden
I don’t like secrets and I hate mysteries. Yet, I’ve avoided getting to the bottom of the one I pass by every day. Who is Espen Winters? Rumors of his harsh nature and disfigured appearance is Fairhope’s new favorite urban legend. The mysterious grandson’s absence was acceptable a year ago. Now, we need him. Our bachelor auction is short one person and it’s time for him to take his rightful place in running this country. Unfortunately, he’s hard to reach and has left me no choice. I decide to break in and demand a meeting. Discovering his secret makes me question everything I know. Being stuck together gives us time to create a bond as solid as a block of ice in Antarctica, but will it melt with the snow?
Francesca Penn lives in Texas with her husband and son. While obtaining her Technical Writing degree, a creative writing course and play-writing elective reawakened her desire to create stories. Her brain lives in fiction; even the songs she listens to become music videos in her head.
When she is not writing, she can be found hounding her loved ones with multiple "What-if" scenarios. As a true closet romantic, she is prone to filling up her DVR with Hallmark movies. A friend once told her that she'd trained the whole 20 plus years she'd known her to write romance since her nose was always in a love story.
Francesca believes that love is colorblind and plans to provide a mix of couples of different races and ethnicities because - to her - men are like Skittles, and we all know their motto.
This is literally a sexy cool read. Arden and Jack were close when they were younger and after some good loving and actual talking, they find their way back to each other. This is an awesome read with a great plot, character interaction and hotness. It was also great catching up with characters from other books. I highly recommend this read.
When his grandfather died, the past generation Jack Frost. Jack Espen Winter was hurt that he did not take his future duty as the new Jack Frost seriously. He’d left at fifteen thinking he’d avoid his duty. In doing so he broke Arden’s heart, his one, and only love. Since his grandfather’s death and his return, he did not want to endanger Arden with his duties since he still had so much to learn. He did not want to repeat what his grandfather had in a lapse of forethought.
His grandfather had big shoes to fill but Jack Espen remained aloof refusing to participate in the community activities. Arden was at her wit's end trying to get him to. She resorted to surprising him only to be surprised herself. After having Arden back in his life and not wanting to ever live without her again, he finally understands with help, that he can do his duty as Jack Frost and have a life with Arden and reach for their HEA.
This story was about a demi-god having trouble with his duties and keeping his love safe. His lady love Arden is mad as hell at him for leaving and not saying anything to her for fifteen years. Their apprehension and anger are melted away when they are back into each other’s life. It’s as though they were never apart.
"Letting Arden in my life is one of the things I’m proud of doing. She helped mend what was broken and gave me the kind of light-hearted hope I haven’t felt in a long time."
Francesca Penn is again guilty of giving us a fun and imaginative IR novella. This one is up there on my list of best Christmas romance novellas because it’s just so creative. Arden and Espen aka Jack Frost were childhood sweethearts until Jack had discovered his special powers and in order to protect Arden and learn to deal with these powers, he had to leave town. Arden is heartbroken over the years as she never knew why he left but when he returns following the death of his beloved grandfather, as Espen, sparks fly in more ways than one! Really enjoyed this! Give it a read!
I adored this book!! The romance and magic of Christmas fused with some sexy steam! Arden and Jack had history and were always meant to be. When they were teens he found out what his future held and he was shocked. Scared of his destiny he disappears leaving the little town of Fairhope and the friends/family he’s come to love. When it’s Jack’s time fulfill his destiny he comes back and he is in full force. He can only hide for so long before Arden comes knocking and then all bets are off from there!
Espen aka Jack and Arden have been childhood sweethearts... but one day Jack left. Fast forward, they will meet again, will Aspen/Jack and Arden rekindle their love? Did their love survive such a long separation? They are two strong will individual, but their chemistry will turn even a blizzard into puddles.( No pun intended, Aspen) 😂 These 2 will keep you at the edge of your seat. Awesome read!!
This was another great read from Francesca. Arden and Jack dated when they were younger but one day he left and she hadn't heard from him since. Of course there were reasons that he left that he couldn't share with her and there were reasons he had to come back. I love Ardens attitude, reminds me of me lol, and I loved how Jack responded to that attitude even more. These two were meant to be from the start.
I loved Ardennes and Espen (Jack ) story. It show how one's grief and a mis understood past can make a person put love on hold! I'm glad true love prevailed for them and I loved how Jack still looked out for Arden when she didn't have a clue!!!! Great job Francesca Penn as always!!!!!!
A freaking Dom.... This steamy over the top take on Jack Frost could melt a snow drift. Let's be glad Arden was so determined to get "Mr. Winter" to be in the auction. I do believe they would have found their way to each other, even if things didn't go the way Arden wanted. Hope we get Santa's story.
Definitely the weakest of this authors works that I’ve read so far. Fun but not in the usual well thought out way I feel like we threw a bunch of background characters together that didn’t necessarily fit. It also felt eerily familiar to another book can’t figure out which book tho which I guess I more of a me problem 2.5/5
I am loving all the retelling of different characters. Never would I think Jack Frost is sexy but he can get it!!! Please tell me there are more because Santa baby is sounding tasty.
Sweet Jesus. She came through again and wasn't playing. I wasn't really ready like I thought I was. Jack was no joke and he wasn't playing with Arden. Arden was on 10 and Jack brought her down a couple of notches.
This was w very good book! The chemistry between Espen and Garden was smoking hot! I loved how the hisiry of Espen and Ardern was interwoven from before they were born. I am not a fan of all the sex scenes but overall this is a book worth reading.
This was a great book and it had me remembering the times when I was a child. Love the storyline and how you can manage your responsibilities and have love. I couldn't stop reading.
This was a great story but it was marred by the constant editing issues. Grammar is getting worse in books. Jack / Espen goes to his ancestral home to take over his grandfather's duties. The love of his life is there, seething that he left her so long ago. His caveman tactics win her over.
Love this book! Couldn't put it down. I wonder if there will be more about Deacon and Mack and their abilities along with Alperon. Definitely a book I will add to my read again list!
