This is the sequel to" A Light in the Darkness". The five travelers reached Gelendor. This is the city of Trees. As they settle in to rest, the Dark Wizard's warriors attack. It is with heavy hearts that they must flee this city to enlist aid and training from the City of Light. Torren decides to stay and help the citizens while Sylas, Samara and Uthren sneak away. They take a roundabout trip through the forests to try to fool the Dark Wizard. But it is not to be and they find themselves fighting for their survival. Uthren has tried to further their training along the way but it seems so much easier for Samara than Sylas. Sylas also finds a special companion along the way that helps boost his spirit. Eventually they reach the city of Sindmyr, The Capital of Light, and explain what is happening in the country. It is decided that the two children must be more fully taught the use of Light Magick by a master. Luckily it is winter and no armies will make the long trek through the mountains. The training will be rushed but must be done in three months. It is hard work but if it pays off they will become Templars. The whole time they are training, they worry about Torren and whether they will return in time to save him and the town of Gelendor. Finally, the training is done and they must take the test for Templar. It is a win or die situation.

You'll have to read what happens from here on. It gets even more exciting and this book I found more interesting than Book 1. A good work of fiction for all ages.
