I loved Tati, and was waiting for Sofia's story (outside of Girls Night) because let's be real here she's a badass in her own right and I needed more! I'm not sure how to put to words how deliciously dark this story is without giving anything away. I read this in one sitting because I legit couldn't put it down. The world Yolanda is creating has me fully engrossed and I can't wait for the next book! I am absolutely in love with Sofi too, she's the goals of your deep, dark, and dirty secrets.
If you missed this story in the Girls Night Vol I anthology, nows your chance 🖤 and if you’ve already read it, don’t skip the reread!! More content has been added and it ties in perfectly with the prequel La Princesa
(Updated review) During my second read of this story I noticed that the interactions between Tati and Sofi portray a slightly strained yet loving relationship. Continually vying for their fathers approval, they tend to hide things from each other. Although the biggest secrets are the ones they share as sisters.
My initial questions are still all there though. I need more on Frank, the voyeuristic gringo with the blue eyed and a coke habit. And who the hell is the guy with scuffed shoes? I have a new suspicion but I guess only time will tell.
Now go grab El Gringo see if you can solve the mysteries.
If you’ve read Yolanda before, go in WITHOUT reading the warning!! I felt the story would have been more impactful had I not know some of the content to expect.
Anna Sofia “Sofi” is El Señor’s most trusted (and secret) weapon. She’s his La Carnicera, his sicario, his adopted daughter. As they say the things you experience and survive in childhood shape you into who you become as an adult. That flashback from Sofi is a stark reminder of how much that’s true. Nature vs nurture be damned, it’s survival of the fittest.
Then we have Tati in all her dark and twisted glory. Yet it’s El Gringo who I’m thirsting to know more about. Who is he? What is he hiding? And why did Sofi interest him so much? Was he the one with the shoes or is it someone else entirely? *wringing my hands* I need to know!!
I wish her story could have been longer but I’m happy with the the glimpse into the series we’ve gotten. It’s setting out to be a bloody tale of honor, loyalty, revenge, and retribution.
“Either you’re with us or against us. And if you’re against us … Corre pequeño conejo.”
I simply just love listening to an audiobook while reading along with a paperback. The narrator, Kristina Beringer nailed Sofi’s character in La Carnicera and I just love how authentic her voice sounded. It made the experience of envisioning Sofi’s character in my head more clear.
La Carnicera was first featured in the Girl’s Night anthology, but I would pick up this version to read as well since the story has been elevated with some extended content. I was dying to read this book after reading about Sicario’s killing machine in book one, La Princesa.
Ana Sofia De La Cruz is as ruthless as she is beautiful. Adopted daughter of El Señor and sister to Tati, this woman is the most feared Sicario. For being in her presence means death may be near. Sofi and Tati both hold the familia as their number one priorty, but let’s not forget that Sofi still has an agenda. The death of her family still weighs heavy on her conscience, and like any other cartel, people will always have it out for you. In Sofi’s case, the man with the scuffed shoes wants more than what she’s willing to offer.
Let’s also not forget Frank, the gorgeous Gringo who basically forced Sofi into a new friendship with him. This man is an enigma that I can’t wait to read more about.
I love a bit of action in my books and if you’re into reading dark mafia fiction that doesn’t necessarily end in a HEA, then pick up this series. The violent brutality La Carnicera is known for takes somewhat of a backseat as she struggles through her own trauma, but don’t worry..this story features one of the best FFF scenes I have ever read. Bravo, Señora Olson. I’m hooked for life. - Sela
TW: This whole book serves as a trigger/content warning. Rape, Murder, Drug use.. Consider yourself warned!

Yanno when I said in my book 1 La Princesa review, what could go wrong? Well fuck me sideways and call me tinkerbell. cause I still naively read a Yolanda book thinking she just won't "Go There" But after death and taxes, Yoly is third constant you can count to keep a whole psychiatric ward busy with readers like us. This is Ana Sofia's story and something traumatic happens to her, killing her spunk, her mojo. She needs to come to terms with it and so do Dad and Tati. It's her recovery that is showcased here and sometimes I saw contradictory facets of her personality BUT, we get a super steamy scene and a promise of a sexy studmuffin, I'll wait his book eagerly now Three by Foursome Follow me on: Email🌻 Bookbub 🌻 Twitter🌻 Instagram🌻 Blog🌻 Facebook🌻 Amazon 🌻
1/5 stars. No spoilers because there is nothing to spoil because there is no plot.
Things happen, but none of it makes any sense or is in any way cohesive, which makes the reading experience the equivalent of watching somebody else shit in a toilet and pointing at the figure of Jesus on the stool.
Fuck you Jackie for making me read this for Evil Book Club.
Dark and Captivating, I love the characters and getting to know them. The story is interesting and hooks you from the start. A definite must read for dark and taboo readers
I love a good dark mafia story. La Carnicera is a deliciously dark story about a badass and powerful woman named Ana Sofia De La Cruz. Sofia, as they call her, is as ruthless as she is beautiful. She is like a dark, twisted and dirty secret that is the most feared assassin of the Navalato Cartel. The people are right to fear her because of what she does to the bodies after she's done, but the more distrubing fact is what her sister Tati likes to do to some of the butchered parts. I liked the bond that theses twisted sisters had between them and it truly shows that blood isn't always thicker than water.
I was engrossed of the world that Olsen has created mostly because of the narrator's voice. Kristina Beringer's voice nailed Sofia's character with her authentic Mexican mafia voice. Her pleasant and fitting voice made the envisioning in my head so much clearer and it felt like she was Sofia. This shows how important it is with the right narrator for an audiobook. Kristina's voice did it for me, she hooked me from the first line and I had to finish this book in one sitting.
Trigger warnings, drug use, rape and murder to mention a few. There are som very graphical sex scenes as well. If you love everything dark and twisted let Kristina Beringer's voice full of character introduce you and seduce you to the most feared woman in the Navalato Cartel.
The cartel with a twist...in this series the Sicarios are El Jefe’s hijas (daughters).
Sofi was basically adopted by the bossman after losing her parents in a war fight. She just wants Papa to see that she is just as willing to protect him as he is to protect her, su vida.
She has rightfully earned her name La Carnicera (The Butcher) because of what she does to the bodies when she’s done. Only problem is what her sister, Tati, likes to do with some of those butchered parts. EEKKK!!
I am really loving this series, Yolanda is giving me a bit of everything - Cartel, hispancis, chicas malas, just enough steam to make you hot under the collar and of course the signature awesomeness that runs through only her mind.
Can’t wait to meet Frank Freaking Larson!!!! Dude! El Gringo esperame porque ya voy (besos).
I was graciously given an Audio ARC by the narrator Kristina Beringer, so I was lucky to do some immersion reading with this one. Kristina was perfect for this series. I loved that it was read with an accent and Kristina really did a great job. I look forward to checking out other Audiobooks she’s done.
WOW! I am always blown away by the stories that Yolanda writes. She is truly an amazing writer of all things dark and delicious.
This story is filled with action, suspense, mystery, deviant murder and lots of mayhem. For a novella it really packs a punch and will shock you along the way. Just know that Ana Sofia is La Carnicera and a MF Queen!!!
She is dark, twisted and kills without hesitation. Ana Sofia is hellbent on dishing out revenge and protecting her beloved cartel family. I love that nothing is off limits to her in her many ways of torture. I love her and her messed up mind.
Right away you will get sucked into Ana Sofia’s world and you won’t be able to let go. She will make you want to jump into a rabbit hole of depravity just to see what kinds of things she can stir up.
This series is going to get even bloodier, darker and more delicious and I can’t wait for that to happen.
Omg I can't get enough! Seriously! Tati completely teased me and now Sofia has turned me into a Yolanda junkie. This story was so good. I love how twisted Sofia is and how devoted to her Papa she has become. Tati is just as crazy. One word... Matteo. I love this world and these twisted sisters are incredible. I need more!! I'm completely addicted and I have to see more of this mystery man. Frank you freak. I love you! haha If you love the dark stuff you HAVE to read this!!
I absolutely love dark Mafia and Cartel romances. They're my all time favorite. And this series, especially this particular book, is now ranked among my absolute favorite of the bunch. This is how I imagine cartel life really is. Gritty, violent, raw, sexy, and stressful as hell, but tempered by the love, connections and loyalty that come with it. These characters feel like family. I am impatiently waiting to get my hands on the next installment!
I am absolutely loving this series. We got a sneak peek at Ana Sophia in Girls Night, but don't skip this one. Yolanda has added more to the story to ties in to the series. I love what a strong h Ana Sofia is and how she can handle herself in any situation. I am inpatient waiting on the next book
How interesting What a concept for a story. The Mexican Cartel... Sofi protects her father with her life. I so enjoyed reading about Sofi, well some of her story. I want more I'm also needing to know who El Gringo is and what he is to Sofi Now to read the next one
i don’t recommend this for anyone that honestly has any triggers. this one was pretty dark and i will be thinking about that scene with the decapitated head for a while 🤭 i love Sofi even though she is a little cuckoo. this installment felt more introductory to the world and character and didn’t really have a specific *plot* so i’m really excited to see where yolanda is going with this series
And the plot thickens! I wasn't sure how j felt about Sofi in the last book, but getting inside her head in this one made me love her - she's such a strong FMC!
I'm intrigued by Frank now thought can't wait to dive into his book 👀
This sister isn't as f*cked as the other, by comparison. I liked how this is a series and is so full of info and setup for how short it is. Yum, a FFF scene 😏 and a new interesting player. Looking forward to the next book.
Ana Sofia is an enigma. She is a hit man for her father's organization, his protector who would die for him on any given day. She is a child of the streets, plucked up and trained to be an assassin because she had a taste for killing...
