He earned a pharmacy degree from North Dakota State University in 1963 and later received a Master Herbalist Diploma from Dominion Herbal College. Mindell has published more than 50 books, including the widely known Earl Mindell's Vitamin Bible, first published in 1979. His statements about vitamins, herbal remedies, superoxide dismutase, and goji juice have been particularly controversial.
