Baby animals drop to their knees in prayer. They cry out to God for important answers and provision. Can you imagine your children giving their souls to the Lord in prayer? This book is designed from a Biblical perspective. Proverbs says to train up a child in the way they should go and they will not depart from it. This book teaches children how easy it is to cry out to the Lord and ask for guidance, recieve peace, and expect good things from Him. Children often wonder about praying. This book encourages children to feel free talking to their creator. The story is fun to read. Illustration displays nicely. As an educator and a parent I liked the page of The young elephant staring at the sky, it was so touching. I recommend this book
This is a very cute book about prayer for the little ones. The illustrations are bright and vivid. It shares with them that they can pray for the simplest things and it is good. The important thing is to pray. This book is for the littlest of us and remind the older of us about prayer.
“If Animals Could Pray…What Would They Say?” written by Mildren Ann Stansell is a short rhyming book that explores what baby animals might say if they could pray.
The story is aimed at children between the ages of 1 through 7. The message of the story is relevant to children (and adults) of all ages.
Teaching children to pray is sometimes a challenge. Often times we don’t know what to say to God. It’s all too easy to fall into the trap of believing that we need to say the perfect things for God to hear us. This story teaches us that we can pray for whatever is on our hearts, no matter how silly it may seem.
The illustrator Jarred Thomas Stansell has created fun characters that children will enjoy. Art is subjective and while I do like many of the characters, I wish that the baby bird was larger on the initial two pages.
I like that the font is large and easily read and that the sentences are short and not overwhelming to young readers. There are a couple of inconsistencies that could be addressed in a future update but they will not affect your enjoyment of the book. An example is “Baby Elephant” which is capitalized and “baby giraffe” is not.
Overall this is an enjoyable book with a message that God loves us and listens to each and every pray, no matter how insignificant we feel it may be.
VERY CUTE! I sometimes choose books written for younger people, I am forever on the search for age appro material to FaceTime to my handicapped adult son in his group home during pandemic. This one was a good choice, and it also has great art.
