Thank you to the author for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Just like the first book, Jenn D. Young does an amazing job at writing with such emotionally charged detail that you can’t help but be invested in each character. The story is unique, enthralling and intriguing. Its action packed with fascinating paranormal beings. Ahh, I love Lorelei and Vincent! In my review of the first book, I said I couldn’t wait to see how their relationship develops. Jenn did not disappoint! She makes it easy to fall in love with this couple and to envision every detail she describes. I love the world she’s created. And holy hot Dracula, the steam was off the charts! It took me 2 days to finish a 5-1/2-hour audiobook because I kept relistening to the love scenes. Lorelei and Vincent are an explosive power couple. Their bond is strong, intense, and sizzling. The supporting characters are just as intriguing and provide a great addition to this trilogy. Narrators Sarah Puckett and Tim Paige are a dream team. They expertly bring these characters to life and easily convey their emotions. They gave each character their own voice that fit their personalities perfectly. The tone, flow, and pacing were spot on. Sarah’s voice is exactly how I’d pictured Lorelei to sound. Let’s face it ladies, we all want a strong, sexy voice to match our alpha book males. Tim does not disappoint as he portrays our dominant demon, Vincent. I strongly suggest the audiobook version of the book so you can experience what these 2 entertaining storytellers have to offer.
I loved it! Out of the Shadows is filled with excitement, intrigue, romance and amazing characters. I was left on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Vincent and Lorelei are characters that you will fall in love with. A wonderfully written story, with an enthralling storyline, I was disappointed when it came to an end. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book to see what happens next.
This book was absolutely amazing! Once again, as expected, I was not disappointed by this authors words. I fell in love with Vincent and Lorelei in the first book and this one made me love them even more. Their chemistry is off the charts hot. The epilogue had me not wanting their story to pause just yet but I know the conclusion will be just as great.
Finally, Vincent and Lorelei bounded but Lorelei still felt bitterness and resentment against Vincent, her uncle, and her parents for having kept her in the dark during so many years (and they still kept a lot from 🙄😡). Lorelei got more and more glimpse of her past and her dreams of Vincent, and all secrets haven't been revealed yet! Nicolae, the best friend of Vincent, got captured by the Syndicate... and of course, they didn't treat him well (less to say😔). When they managed to free him, they discovered that Kristoff wasn't the big villain in fact, and that an old enemy is still alive and determined capturing Lorelei for awakening Xandrios. The guys, Vincent, Leo, Damius, etc. were still bickering for futilities and this pattern got a bit boring🙄 It was a bit difficult keeping tab on who is a seraphim, a nephilim, from which family, names of their ancestors, etc. As I said, there is still a LOT to learn about Lorelei, her powers, her family, her past, etc. So I will greedily read the next book!
Audio Review: Out of the Shadows (Shadows Ascending Trilogy, Book 2) is young adult paranormal vampire romance. This author created a siren cosmos brimming angels, demons and vampires. A fast paced story, packed with action and well defined detailed world. Wittyly written plot and intriguing characters. Looking forward to listening to the final book in the trilogy when available.
Narrators Sarah Puckett, Tim Paige dual naration was smooth and intoxicating listen. I love these two narators. Sarah plays Lorelei exactly how I would picture and Tim's Vincent is wonderful and his performance of the demon fit too.
Loralei and Vincent are now together, but she is still learning all the powers she has and how to control them. But there are still bigger threats to face. This book was mostly about their relationship with a tons of alone time, definitely steamy! Although there was the ongoing threat from The Syndicate, and they need to learn who is behind it all.
Out Of The Shadows (Shadows Ascending Trilogy Book 2) by Jenn D. Young this is a wonderful story that I have had the privilege to read and review. This is book number two in this wonderful series written by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about paranormal romances in their stories.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in this great series I love the chemistry between Lorelei and Vincent they are hot, hot, hot and then getting to learn more about Lorelei's past and who her father is the all the secondary characters are great I can't wait for the next book. Everyone should read this series and this great author.
Absolutely as thrilling and fun as the first book in the series. It's a fantastic lead up to the next book. And the steamy scenes are simply perfection. These books continue to be exactly what I was hoping they would be and so, so much more!
Talk about action packed and full of sizzling times! This book has all that and more. It is unpredictable in so many ways but it just adds to the greatness of the story and series!
We meet new characters and learn more about “old” characters.
Unfortunately this book fell a little short for me. The character development that had taken place in the first book was missing. There are still many mistakes in the text, I wish the editing was better. I also felt that the text and dialogue was becoming very repetitive. I almost gave up on finishing the series.
So a lot of things were revealed in book 2 of this trilogy! I think I liked book 1 more than book 2, I think I was getting confused with who was who, probably just because I listened instead of reading this series. So many characters to remember what being they are (since there are so many hybrids) and how old they are/who they are in our history haha. I think that really comes to a front in book 3, but I will mention more when I am done it later this week.
The steaminess sky rocketed in book 2 and I was so here for it haha. Lorelei and Vincent let their mating bond go into place despite trying not to and their chemistry is off the charts. I enjoyed it wasn’t overpowering, that the story was just as prevalent in this world. More bad things happen to this group of supernaturals, one of them a main side character and it was heartwarming to see how much Lorelei was affected by his capture. I think because of how she was treated by him right away and like the band part of book 1, and how he is best buddies with Vincent. Like you can feel the family vibes in this book, it made some things harder to swallow.
I don’t want to give anything away, but some interesting developments about Lorelei and her heritage, what that means in terms of her powers, and where her family is now haha. Again not going to spoil it, but it was fun to see the hints make sense haha. I appreciated Lorelei’s snark in this one when it came to the Council. She lets her commentary fly and some think its funny, some are upset haha. When its revealed who one of the members is to human history was fabulous haha. I think this one didnt end in a big cliffhanger like it could have been, but I know I wanted to know what was going to happen next so I stated right into book 3 of the trilogy. Good story, intricate plot that sometimes was getting muddled, but the relationship building was done well, so easily 4 stars from me.
Narration felt like it was upped in this one, because of all the heart-racing or suspenseful or heartaching events these characters have to go through. The anger Vincent has for a character to makes a reappearance, the pain and torture some of the side characters have to endure, the joy and love of Lorelei and Vincents mating, etc. A lot of ups and down, this series is definitely an emotional rollercoaster!
Out of the Shadows Shadows Ascending Trilogy, Book 2 By: Jenn D. Young Narrated by: Sarah Puckett, Tim Paige
Jenn D. Young delivers more awesomeness in this second novel of her “Shadows Ascending Trilogy”. She created a fascinating world filled with equally fascinating characters comprised of a variety of paranormal beings, Angels, Demons and Vampires. This is a fast paced, action packed story that contains a lot of details, she easily keeps up the great momentum she started in the first book as we learn more about the two lead characters, Lorelei and Vincent. The plot continues to thicken as we get more details about what is going on in their world and who is behind it and why. No spoilers here and I will only say wow and I can not wait to see what happens next for them and their world. I am loving and rooting for Lorelei and Vincent, the secondary characters, their support team are great too. This book is cleverly plotted and there is never a dull moment, once you start the book you will not want to put it down. Jenn D. Young thank you for another amazing story, I loved every minute of it.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Sarah Puckett and Tim Paige continue to do an awesome job portraying the characters, giving each their own distinct voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. Sarah Puckett plays the perfect Lorelei, she took that role and made it her own. Tim Paige did the same for Vincent, he did was great voicing his demon too. Both were great performing the voices for the secondary characters as well as covering the other’s role in alternating chapters. These mega talented voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

This story just keeps getting better and better, with lots of mystery, romance, and phenomenal characters, I love Vincent and Lorelei. I definitely need the last book of the trilogy, this is so good. I will be checking other books by Jenn D. Young for sure, they are well written and I got the audiobook so I can also say that the narrators, Sarah Pucket and Tim Paige did a terrific job, they nailed their characters and it's totally worth getting it.
Holy crap! This book was so frickin awesome! I really liked the first book in this trilogy. But I LOVED this one. I swear every book that I get from #AudiobookObsession is incredible. Both narrators did amazing jobs, again. And I love the story. It's so original and interesting. These are definitely my kinds of books. I wish there were more books than 3, but other than that. No complaints here! I loved this! And I can't wait to read the next one.
This book was given to me at my request. Thank you AudiobookObsession!!! I am providing a voluntary and honest review. :)
I listened to Out Of The Shadows in one sitting and that time flew by, such was my absorption into the story.
Vincent and Lorelei are great characters but they are not alone. Every character and situation feels well developed. Whether the characters are likeable or not, they all evoke a reaction.
The plot in thorough and intense. While we learn so much more in this second book in the series, there is so much more to learn.
The strength of the relationship between Vincent and Lorelei becomes more evident in Out of The Shadows and for most of the book they struggle to keep either mentally or physically apart. In other words there are several steamy scenes and plenty of sexual tension. As mates this is to be expected and they are incredibly strong individually but the bond that they share makes them stronger than ever before.
The writing was really good and the story was lifted to incredible heights by Sarah Puckett & Tim Paige, who continue to wow me with their vocal talents and completely immersed me into this world. I wait with baited breath to see what happens in the final audiobook in this series.
Title: Out of the Shadows Author: Jenn D. Young Format: Audio Narrators: Sarah Puckett, Tim Paige Genre: Paranormal Suspense, Romance Standalone: No Part of a Series: Book 2 of the Shadows Ascending Trilogy POV: Lorelai and Vincent Steam Level: Hot 5/5
Out of the Shadows is book two of the Shadows Ascending Trilogy. In it we find out who Lorelei's father is, Vincent and Lorelei's mate bond is strengthening and so are her powers. Old faces return and more mysteries are revealed but not resolved. There is humor sprinkled throughout that helps break up the tension that's building. I cannot wait to see what happens in the third and final book in this trilogy. Jenn D. Young has set the stage and I'm ready for the finale. This is an amazing series so far and I'm thrilled to have discovered it. I love the mix of paranormal beings which makes this series unique. Out of the Shadows is just as good, if not better than it's predecessor. The cliffhanger isn't too bad but I definitely cannot wait to see what happens.
I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsession and Pink Flamingo Productions. This is my honest and voluntary review.
story: love it, twists and mysteries, passion, charming characters, music and supernatural...all good, except 1 scene in the hospital room that i fount absolutely unnecessary and of poor taste. characters: i like them all so far and i can't wait to see what happens next. narration: tim paige is brilliant and i love his tones and his acting skills. i love that he took the time to learn how to read "thanatos" and tried to give justice to all foreign accents and words mentioned in the story. Sarah Puckett on the other hand didnt bother doing the same as she misread a ton of foreign words and i think she could have done a better job researching. another critic about Sarah, she has a very sweet voice and she is a good narrator, but she should mind how she pronounces some words as it just made my attention drop 100 times because of the ridiculousness of her pronunciation.... chin is CHIN, not CHEN..pinned is PINNED, not PENNED. this happens all over the book and for this reason i didn't enjoy the parts read by her. i loved the parts narrated by Tim.
i received a free copy of this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving a review
My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book,
This book picks up Vincent and Lorelei's story from the first book, Jenn D. Young does an amazing job at writing with such emotionally charged detail that you can’t help but be invested in each character. I am really enjoying this interesting, intriguing and different story packed with action and interesting paranormal characters. I'm loving how Lorelei is coming to grips with her new powers too!
I'm loving the way the relationship between Lorelei and Vincent is evolving. The author writes so well it's easy to fall in love with them and the world she’s created for them. I'm also liking the chemistry and steam these two generate, the love scenes are so well done I needed a long cool drink! Lorelei and Vincent are an incredible couple with a bond that is strong, intense, and let's not forget their palpable, sizzling chemistry!
Sarah Puckett and Tim Paige again expertly bring the characters to life and easily portray the emotions of each character giving each their own distinctive and unique voice which fit their personalities perfectly.
Holy smokes...this book is hot! I feel like book one, Into The Shadows, was just gearing us up for the adventure of Lorelei and Vincent and their family/friends. This book throws us right back into the mix. And talk about steam! At the end of Into The Shadows we are just waiting for Lorelei and Vincent to get together and in Out Of The Shadows they do... multiple times. This is a must read for steamy romance fans. But it's not just all romance. Not even close. There is action, adventure, humor, drama, and some many shocking secrets exposed. I loved how Jenn D Young twisted history in this book. We also learn the back story on some others characters and I felt connected way more to them. And I am left wanting and need so much more. I don't think I can wait for the next book in audio. I need to read it now! Sarah Puckett and Tim Paige, as usual, did an amazing job portraying Lorelei and Vincent. And Tim Paige surprised me in the epilogue. Not giving away those details. Go listen/read now!
Out of the Shadows by Jenn D. Young is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett and Tim Paige. This is the second book in the Shadows Ascending Trilogy.
This is the second book of Jenn’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I am loving the relationship that is being built between Lorelei and Vincent over the course of the series. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view. It really brought the story to life.
The book does end on a cliffhanger which wasn’t a surprise since its part of a trilogy. I can’t wait for the final book Embrace The Shadows to be released on audio.
Sarah and Tim did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life.
I would recommend this book if you love Paranormal Romances.
I loved this book. My only regret is not listening to the first audiobook again before listening to the second one because it took me a while to remember what I listened to. Awesome lore, great action, steamy fun and overall, just a fascinating listen, especially with the narration team of Sarah Puckett and Tim Paige who were fantastic.
Lorelei and Vincent are now a strong team that need to fight against the bad guys as well as figure out why people are trying to catch and attack Lorelei. We are fed a few more details about why Lorelei came to be separated from her parents and her role as everything comes to a head. I really loved the supporting cast and cracked up with the banter in so many areas. Can’t wait for the final installment!
The plot is still turning and I am intrigued. Often times with such a large story and cast of characters I have trouble remembering who’s who and what’s what, that’s not a strike against the book though.
I love that they haven’t skimped on the 🌶️ ! I am very much enjoying Vincent and Lorelei. Though at times Lorelei has started down the “I’m the boss of me” or “you can’t tell me what to do” road a few times and I was really getting annoyed, she’s not gone full potato yet. Nothing more annoying than the most powerful supernatural creature ever and had been blind to their power(s) and doesn’t know how to use them, while a syndicate of bad guys are after her and she’s going to stomp her foot and demand she be allowed to dive into mortal danger. So far she’s still likeable, I hope that continues 🤞
This story is intense with plenty of actin, drama, sex, intrigue, mystery. Lorelei finds out who her father is. She meets him for a few moments, he told her things will be worse before it gets better. The secrets will be revealed in time. Be true to yourself and learn her powers. Meanwhile the sexual intensity becomes stronger between Lorelei and Vincent. Troubles are brewing within their world. There are forces in play that want to bring it down. But will they have the powers to defeat them? Sarah Puckett and Tim Paige are aoustanding narrators. Their performance was fantastic, telling the story with such emotion. They bring the angst, raw emotion and personality to each character. 🎧audiobookobsessionVIPreviewer🎧 #Pink Flamingo Productions #the flock
This was one hot and spicy number. There’s a lot of focus in this book on Lorelei and Vincent and cementing their mate bond, much to the chagrin of everyone else around them. I enjoyed the story however, it does have a few “middle book” issues. We get a great deal of information about what’s going on around them, about The Syndicate, about the past events that have brought them to this place and time, but we don’t get to see them doing much about the big issue yet. This book does an excellent job of setting the stage for what I think is going to happen in the end. And, I for one, can’t wait to see how it all plays out in the final book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author as part of the box set.
I'm continuing to love this story. The world building is so interesting and I'm loving not only the main characters, but the side ones too. I was hoping for more spice, but I'm coming to terms with it and just enjoying the ride. I am just used to her why choose series, which I suppose usually have more. Thankfully what spice we get is A1.
Again, Sarah Puckett and Tim Paige are just great with these characters. I love them both to pieces, especially Sarah's Lorelei and Tim's Vincent. I'm excited to keep listening to them.
The story is developing really well as we get more glimpses into Lorelei's past and getting to know some bits about her father. It's been a fun ride and I can't wait for more.
