What followed was a lesson in pain and purpose that eventually birthed Akins Helping Hands, an important resource for the ventilator-dependent quadriplegic community, providing excellent In-Home Care Services as well as advocating, supporting, and educating families who find themselves in similar situations.

Lashonda's story kept me on the edge of my seat. She writes candidly about her experiences in a relatable fashion. She takes "looking on the bright side" to a whole new level as she looks beyond the pain to the purpose of learning and growing.
