Arianna Ward doesn’t have a lot to look forward to in life, least of all freedom. She’s spent a year being tortured and bitten as a vampire’s pet, and when she’s sold to a new master on her nineteenth birthday, she’s sure she’s in for another awful year ahead.
But her new master is different. His name is Ren. He has secrets—and plans. He wants to make a fair trade with Arianna, and the offer on the table is her freedom. Ren wants her to complete one task for him, and then she can walk away from the horrors of the supernatural world forever.
And his task might not even be that difficult, because Ren isn’t at all what he appears to be, and he can grant Arianna power she’s never dreamt of before. Power so great that—when this is all over—she might find herself wanting to stay with him, despite the hell she’s gone through.
Note: This book deals with the topics of violence, rape, suicide, and death. Reader discretion is advised.

After a year of living at the beck and call of a vampire, being tortured and bitten, Arianna Ward has resigned herself to a life of misery. Life could be about to get worse as her current master prepares to sell her to a new one.
Arianna's new master, Ren, is unlike anyone she's ever met. Instead of the poor treatment she is used to Ren offers Arianna her freedom in exchange for the completion of one task. In order to complete this task, Ren will provide her with everything she needs, including powers. But if she completes the task and is offered her freedom will she accept it, or will she be tempted to stay?
What I liked about this book
I found the way that the vampires are portrayed really interesting. They are classic vampire's. Cruel creatures who prey on humans - not an Edward Cullen in sight. Their hierarchy and the story of their origin has been well thought out and clearly established.
The magic that Ren and Arianna are able to use is imaginative and complex.
The story flows at a fast pace allowing the reader to be consistently engaged from start to finish.
Arianna and Ren's characters are both strong and interesting. Arianna has been through hell and still manages to keep her feisty personality. Ren has his eyes set on his goal, but he is also understanding and willing to learn. The relationship between the two is well written. Although the time scale that the story covers is small, Ella manages to make their relationship understandable.
Up until now I have read all of the books Ella M Lee has had published, and I can honestly say that this is my favourite so far. I am excited to see what the next instalment of this series will bring. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy books or paranormal romance.
Thank you to BookSirens and the publisher for sending me this book free in exhange for an honest review.
3.5 stars I enjoyed this book. The characters and plot kept me intrigued, although I thought it was a bit rushed. I would have loved to learn more of the history behind the vampires and demons and their connection to the human realm. I had so many questions about the different realms, Ren's past and his relationship with his sister. More worldbuilding would have made the story so much richer. The love story was sweet. Normally, stories of insta-love irk me. But with the events, it seemed to work well here.
While I didn't feel much of a connection with Arianna, the MC of the book, I really liked Ren's character. A powerful and dangerous demon, and yet unexperienced and out of his element with human relationships. He was endearing in an odd way.
Overall, it was a really good book. I'd like to see a sequel or another story set in the same world.
This book is of 49 small Chapters, When I began reading it I thought it could be something similar to Vampire diaries but hands down it is totally different! It is a bit dark book and thankfully it’s fast paced. ‘Soul bound’ is about Arianna she has suffered a lot in time. How does it feel when someone tries to take your freedom away? Not so good right. This in not the kind of story that you can read in your comfortable chair. It will make you stand upright. . Arianna’s new master; Ren promises freedom to her if she does a particular task after which she can walk away from the horrors of the supernatural world forever. However, Ren isn’t at all what he appears to be, and he can grant Arianna power she’s never dreamt of before. Power. Want to know what action she takes? What’s the task? Will she do it? What happens next? Get your copy now! . What I really liked? The relationship of Arianna and Ren that grew through the course of the book. I wish the characters were a bit more well- rounded. Rest, it’s an enjoyable book. I had an enthralling experience reading it! If Dark supernatural stories is your genre, this is the book my friend! . Note - This book deals with the topics of violence, rape, suicide, and death. . “A difficult journey is spiritual rewarding. There is a more dependence on God, His supernatural power, grace and divine favour long the travel.” - Lailah Gifty Akita
This was a short but quite enjoyable PNR tale. It was a weird mix of sappy-sweet fairly tame romance and violence and dark world-building. It was a bit weird but it ended up working for me!
Arianna Ward has spent the last year as the slave to an abusive vampire master and fears the worst when he hauls her to the auction block to cash in on her. Fortunately for Arianna her new owner is a different sort and offers her a deal; help him steal something from some vampire royalty in the region and he will set her free. She takes it as it is a better deal than she had previously even if the job is pretty dangerous!
The world was fairly dark in nature. The vamps in this story were pretty evil and quite happy to enslave, abuse, and murder humans. Arianna herself was a victim of one such monster. Lucky for us the story picks up just as she is being flogged to her new master. Ren was a weird one and not totally up to speed with humanity but it quickly became apparent he was a good guy. The romance was as slow burn as the short length of the story allowed but I did quite enjoy it. Ari and Ren made a good pairing and their feelings for each other grew the longer they spent together.
To add to the romance we also had some magic and the heist element to the story. Both were fun and interesting. This was a dark world so the threats Ari faced always felt real.
All in all I enjoyed this PNR. If a sequel pops up I’ll definitely read it. This did seem a book that could easily expand into an ongoing series.
Rating: 4 stars.
Audio Note: Ali Dane did an excellent job with the audio.
Very well written and the story was way better than the author's last book!
The mc was strong even if she had no reason to be and the world has tried to break her time and again but she faced all of the challenges head on and emerged victorious!!
Arianna has been the property of a vampire called Franklin for exactly a year. During that time he bit, raped and abused her and now he's ready to sell her off to someone else because she's more trouble than she's worth.
At the auction Arianna catches the eye of Ren, who looks like a vampire but also does not. She can't help but wonder if he's going to be worse than Franklin but it soon turns out he's the nicest vampire-not-vampire she's ever met.
Ren takes her "home" where she gets a room to herself, a fully stocked closet and a fridge full of human food. He doesn't seem to want to hurt her but all good things come with a price. Is she ready to go back to the life she barely escaped just for the possibility she'll be free afterwards? And what if she doesn't want to leave?
I'm really happy with this book.
The chapters are short, which I appreciate but it doesn't really matter because I read it in one sitting anyway. I wouldn't say every chapter ended with a cliffhanger but it was a mean cut off.
Arianna is very sensible, as far as main characters go. I like her. But I do think that she may have rushed into the relationship a bit.
Every survivor's story is different, the PTSD was handled well and yeah, Ren isn't like THEM, but she gave into feeling safe with him pretty easily after all that she's been through.
I still loved their relationship, it was sweet and Ren's curiosity was adorable. The soul bond was super cute.
I was afraid the plan wouldn't happen or at least wouldn't end in this book because more than halfway in they still didn't make a move towards their destination but that was quickly fixed.
I really liked Weston as a villain, almost a shame he ended up the way he did.
The best part about this book is the ending. It's so satisfying that it can work as a standalone because everything is wrapped up. I'm glad Ari didn't give up her revenge plan. GO GET 'EM ALL.
I'm looking forward to book two, whether the two main characters appear in it or not.

I started Soul Bound expecting it to be like a lot of the vampire books I have read before not that it’s a bad thing I love vampire books. But from the first page I could tell this would be different. It’s fast paced, dark and yet a fun read. I enjoyed the relationship between Ariana and Ren and how it progressed throughout the book. Arianna is a strong likeable protagonist that’s dark past is balanced out with the sweet interaction she has with Ren as he tried to navigate human emotions. The only reason negative I found was that parts of the story felt skimmed over where more details would have upped the stakes of the Task Ren had given Arianna. If you like dark supernatural stories that have vampire themes and fast paced I would highly recommend picking up this book. There is a lot of violence in this book and would put a trigger warning for talk of sexual assault.

Thanks to the publisher for providing an eARC of Soul Bound in exchange for an honest review.
I assumed pretty quickly that this book wasn't the type of book for me. While I get the popularity behind the whole vampire-owner subgenre thing, its normally a whole lot of strong protector/weak protected pairings which just don't normally appeal to me but Soul Bound really surprised me and challenged my expectations! It's one of the few books I've read in the genre where I didn't hate the love interest and Ella M. Lee's writing is way more developed and distinct than you normally find with this kind of story. It was a real treat to read.
I also really enjoyed the amount of agency Arianna had in the story, though I wish her character was given time to be a bit more distinctive. We get a few details about her past and interests pre-vampires, but I think a flashback scene or two would have really fleshed her out as a character. All in all, this was a surprisingly enjoyable read.
I loved this book! Mrs. Lee has a way of making you feel like you’ve plopped right into the story and always has such great character development. You are swept away into rooting for the FMC and I always fall a little bit in love with the MMC - flaws and all! Ren is a demon - no problem - still love him. I’m really hoping this is the beginning of a new series! I have never been disappointed by any of this authors work. Keep them coming and I’ll keep reading and raving about your work to all my family and friends!

This novel by Ella M. Lee was an enjoyable (albeit quick) read. I gave it three stars because the characters could have been a bit more well-rounded (what were their real motivations? How do those motivations shift throughout the course of the novel?). I think the PTSD that the main character suffered from due to abuse was done well (although I am not the best person to ask about that subject, so take my opinion with a grain of salt). I did like how vampires weren't romanticized in this novel and the unique idea for the plot. I would have liked a richer setting and an ending that gave some more closure, but overall this was a book with some pretty good character development and a romance that was easy to read and not over the top. However, I wouldn't recommend this to younger teens because there are some heavier subjects covered throughout the story.
Thank you to BookSirens, the publisher, and author for sending me a free ARC of this novel. This has not influenced my review, which I leave voluntarily.
I have a confession - I am so excited to fangirl for Ella M. Lee. I discovered her Fire Within series last year and have been enraptured by all of her books. How are we not talking about this author more?
Soul Bound has a distinctly darker feel than The Fire Within series, but is no less engaging or thrilling. I found myself on the edge of my seat in anticipation and the characters themselves practically have a life of their own. They wrap you up in their strong personalities and emotional currents and all you can do is hang on tightly through the white water.
I highly recommend Ella M Lee's books to anyone that enjoys urban fantasy. Just be prepared for some sound shattering, rage inducing and tear jearking tales.
First off, I received an advance review copy for free via BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you!
I do love a good vampire story, and with Soul Bound I got so much more than that.
Like with the authors other books that I've read - the Fire Within Series - there is quite a lot of emotion in the character of Ari, you get a lot of information on how she feels things and I really appreciate that.
There is so much that happens so quickly in the story, but none of it feels rushed at all. I read the whole of the book from start to finish in just a couple of hours because I simply could not put it down. I wanted to find out more about Ren, I wanted to find out more about this task that he had for Ari. But more than that, I wanted to see Ari stand up for herself against what had happened to her at the hands of vampires.
I was not disappointed in the least.
There are, however, topics in this novel that might not sit well with some people. If you've got triggers dealing with rape or suicide, than this story might not be one you wish to delve into, since both of those subjects are brought up within the context of the tale. I do think both subjects were handled very well, and in such a way that you could certainly feel the gravitas each one holds. They are not light subjects, and they are not treated as such within the story, either.
I think my only desire with this story is that I wish there was more of it. More details about the days that Ari spent learning from Ren, and just their interactions together. Perhaps there will be more of that in the next book of the series, I hope!
Overall, I think that this is a fantastic story about taking help that's offered, and using it to propel yourself forward. While Ari's help is more supernatural than human, it still allows her to find a sense of control over her life that she has not had in a long time. In a way, I feel like that says a lot about taking help when it's offered to you. There seems to be a stigma with people that taking help means that you're weak in some way - but everyone needs help now and then, and I think it takes much more strength to accept that and to accept the help that's offered.
At first I was worried that Ari's personality was going to be drowned out by the fears she felt, but as she grew more and more comfortable in her situation, the sassy nature of hers came forward and played well off of Ren's own amused and somewhat sassy nature. They play well against one another, and I'm looking forward to more interesting interactions between the two.
If you're tired of pretty-boy vampires being the love interest, and want to get back to some more gritty, dark, and monstrous versions of the old beasts - you've come to the right place! Soul Bound will give you monstrous vampires, and a young woman accepting help in the face of her fears and taking back her life for herself, and so much more than that. I do highly recommend giving this a read.
After reading Fire Within by Ella M. Lee (and loving it), I was pretty pumped to check out her latest, Soul Bound. Soul Bound is an Urban Fantasy/Romance involving magic, demons and vampires.
Arianna Ward has had a heck of a year – not in a good way. After an abduction, Ari has been living the past year as property of a violent, uncaring vampire named Franklin. When she’s sold in an auction to a new owner, she expects more of the same treatment. But her new master, Ren, is not what she was expecting and he has an offer for Ari that could mean freedom and a return to her old life.
Ari is a strong character. Not because of what she has been through, but because of the decisions she makes over the course of the book. She is a believable heroine and someone I could get behind and cheer on as I was reading. Ren is sensitive and kind, but is a little on the clueless and awkward side, it’s just enough to be endearing as a male lead character.
The best part of Soul Bound is Ren and Ari’s budding friendship and relationship, which I found really cute and fun to read. Without giving too much away, I think there was just enough in this relationship that it’s left me excited for future books so I can see where it goes. Ren’s attempts at being human were enjoyable and somewhat adorable.
There is some good world building in Soul Bound. I especially liked the lore regarding vampires and demons. Though, I would have liked to have read more and understood more through Ari. Most of the time things were explained to Ari, rather than her directly experiencing them. I would have liked to have a seen a little more showing rather than telling.
Admittedly, I get a little concerned about stories involving characters that are abused or kept as property. Sometimes I don’t entirely know if the author can write that type of scenario with sensitivity. I’m happy to report that Lee handles this well. She balances Ari’s trauma and anger sensitively and authentically, it doesn’t feel forced. I will say that this book comes with a content warning as it does contain hints at rape and contains violent scenes toward the main character early on in the book. I wouldn’t recommend this one for readers for whom such topics would bring up trauma.
This is a pretty solid start to a new Urban Fantasy series. Soul Bound gives you just enough to get into the world and sets you up to see where Ari and Ren go next.

Rating ~4 / 5 stars
I was intrigued by this novel it talks about humans, mostly girls, being sold to vampires to be their slaves. I was interested as to how this plotline would work and after reading the book, I can say that I totally enjoyed it. Arianna, the main character, has been a slave to a vampire who dehumanizes her daily and tortures her until the day comes that she is bought by a vampire-like person called Ren. You can really see the effect of being treated like dirt as affected Arianna and how she has learned to preserve her mental health. I found that to be very powerful.
Later, we learn that Ren is actually a demon and that vampires are the result of a demon experiment gone wrong. But Ren only wanted Arianna because he needed him to infiltrate a vampire stronghold to destroy a dagger that could potentially save the life of his father. I found Ren to be really interesting because despite being really old, he does not understand human relationships and how to interact with them. That's kind of cool because while he starts to treat Arianna as someone who deserves respect, Arianna teaches him why humans act the way they do.
I feel like the plot was slow in the first 3/4 in the terms that there wasn't a lot of action happening but then in the last 1/4, it seemed rushed. I also didn't get the instant-love between Ren and Arianna but it does kind of make sense because they're soul bound to each other but I'd have loved to see them becoming aware of their feelings before they were soul-bound otherwise it seems like they love each other because of that soul bound.
Overall, this was a pretty good read with some flaws but I enjoyed it. I am really interested in future works by this author because if the interesting plot was an indication, this author will have some interesting works in the future!

Language: Middling to severe - while it's not a steady stream, there are several f-bombs.
Violence: Severe.
Sex:Mild to middling - No actual sex, but references to sexual violence. A few kisses.
Editing: Professional - I only saw one typo.
Series: Series but could act as a standalone.
I'm not taking any stars away for violence because the book is upfront about being violent, however, I do question this book being classified as YA given how disturbing it sometimes is, as well as the strong content.
The beginning of the book is probably the most brutal, and not because of " vampires," but rather because it's an echo of the horrors of real-life human trafficking. Because of the fact that human trafficking is very real, It was difficult to read about the horrors inflicted on Arianna and her hopelessness. Her shutdown or "off" mode is impressively affective in pulling the reader into her personal heartache. I was also impressed with Arianna's inner whisperings to herself, which were self preserving, but acted both to bolster and to dishearten her at different times. The more they appeared, the more nuanced and true to real life they seemed. One scene in particular got me really thinking about her inner voice. I don't want to give anything away, but at one point Ren cleverly orchestrates a situation to help Arianna realize she's no longer powerless and at the mercy of vampires, and the confrontation with her inner voice is very well crafted.
I almost stopped reading near the beginning because I assumed this would be one of those books where the lead is " saved" by someone who is just as evil as those selling her ( it's unfortunate, but there are many books that glorify abusive and controlling people, using the supernatural genre to excuse it), however, Ren, Arianna's love interest and rescuer, turns out to be a good person and interesting character. I look forward to learning more about him.
Once Arianna is separated from her tormenters, the book turns much more YA in tone and, happily, gives the reader a breather from the heavy beginning. The climax of the book is closer to the dark beginning, while the end is once again an uplifting breather, keeping things fairly balanced.
One random thing that bothered me was Ren saying that the meaning of Arianna's name is weak ( it means holy). Given the evil nature of the antagonists, I thought having a name wholly in opposition to them was powerful, but I suppose I understand why they shorten and change the meaning given what motivates Arianna later.
I won't lie, I'm hoping for a little bit of a Buffy the Vampire thing in the next book. Not the high school cheese, just the vampire butt kicking XD.
I like the romance and the themes of trust, humanity, and trauma ( well, I don't like trauma, but I thought it's depiction was done well and gave me a lot to think about).
I would recommend this to mature adults who can look past the pain to see the themes and make connections to real life. It is definitely not for those who want a light read.
All in all, this was an excellent book. Compared to the first novel in Ms Lee's other series, Fire Within, this book has a quicker pace and more action. I dare say I enjoyed this book more than I did Fire Within, as the setting and story arc gave more time for the characters to interact in a manner that wasn't just a prisoner-warden relationship for the majority of the story.
On the topic of story and characters: I liked the characterization of the main character Ari, who has a story arc where she starts off vulnerable yet spunky, and who is willing to change her situation without much hesitation. The other main character, Ren, is rather similar to Nicolas from Fire Within - a mentor-type character who doesn't need to engage too much in the main story, and serves as a light catalyst to Ari's growth throughout the story. He also apparently only eats raw food, a sentiment I can mostly get on board with.
The story was engaging. Unlike with Fire Within, this book is more self-contained and you learn the motives of the characters pretty quickly, and there is a pretty well-defined end goal. And along the way other interesting characters are introduced, who help flesh out both Ari's and Ren's characters. There is some witty banter and humor spread throughout the story, and the pacing is well-balanced. I never thought this book was too short nor too long.
And as someone who's not generally a fantasy reader, I appreciated the level of world-building that was just enough to get me familiar with the setting and the rules in play, without being overwrought. There are enough mysteries and plot points to build off of should there be other books, but there also weren't any giant unanswered questions that would make you keep guessing at the end of the book.
I really enjoyed this book!! A world filled with vampires, who treat humans as their slaves. They’re beaten, s3xually assaulted, drugged while having their blood sucked by their masters and sometimes auctioned for money. I loved Arianna and Ren 🖤 Arianna has just spent a year with a terrible and mean vampire, who has done the above mentioned things to her. At first, out of fear, she’d cry and try to escape. She learned the hard way that it made things worse, so she learned to turn her emotions off to escape what was being done to her. On her 19th birthday, she is auctioned off for money. Enter her new master, Ren. He wants something from her, and in exchange, he offers her freedom. After Arianna and Ren grow close, will she want the freedom she’s longed for for so long?? I loved how strong Arianna was. Unfortunately she had to go through pure hell to become that way. I really enjoyed going on Arianna’s journey with her, she was an interesting FMC. The mysterious Ren captivated the page from the first time he showed up. Arianna doesn’t originally know anything about him. She just sees how dangerous and extremely feared he is by the other vampires. I really wanted to know why he was instantly protective and possessive of Arianna. I really enjoyed this story all around!! I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK 💙🦋🩵
After reading Ella M Lee's other books, I was excited to get the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I'm leaving my honest review below.
Although this was a quick read, I love the depth of the main character, Ari. She has real fears, hopes, and traumas. There's a lot of trauma in this book actually, and all of it at the hand of vampires (the traditional evil kind, not the glittery kind). Her savior is Ren, who rescues her and offers her freedom in exchange for helping him with his own plans.
Ren's an amazing character! He's handsome, but also so so sweet. He tries to help Ari the best he can even though she's human and he's, well, not. Even though we don't get a lot of his backstory, there's enough there to make him a satisfying character and set up for the rest of the series.
I loved the unique magic in this book, which is based on alchemy and material transformation. I'd never seen it before and thought it was really creative. Lee's writing is usually captivating, and this book is no exception. I guess all I can say is that I want more more more. If you're looking for a quick paranormal romance with a nice twist on the existing books in the category, read Soul Bound.

Let me tell you, this story had me ENTHRALLED. Soul Bound follows the journey of Arianna. Ari is kidnapped by a vampire who uses and abuses her after her 18th birthday. Until the fateful day one year later when he decides that she isn't worth the trouble and brings her to an auction to be sold. At the auction, a male(Ren) who everyone seems to be terrified of wins the bid for her. Ari doesn't know what to expect. This male that scares even the most frightening of vampires can't be a place she wants to go, right?
I loved the authors writing style. The plot held points of triumph and tragedy. This is truly a book I didn't put down once I started reading. It had a wonderful pace and I never felt like I was reading fluff or waiting for something to happen. At times the wording/phrasing felt awkward, but the plot was superb. The ending leaves room for more story and definitely leaves the reader with the questions, but doesn't feel like a cliffhanger.
I truly enjoyed this book and this is something I plan to shelve for a re-read! I really can't wait for the next book in the series!
I was surprised how dark this book began, because the cover feels like an urban fantasy with a sassy heroine, and we start with a girl who is trafficked by vampires while being tortured and raped. So ya, more sad than sassy. I loved the first 25% of this book. I was fascinated by a vampire/human trafficking ring and I liked the dark tone. The MC was a bit flat, but you could understand why. Unfortunately the rest of the book wasn't as good. It focused on demons and powers, when I think they had a pretty good premise already. Ari is rescued by Ren, who again is pretty blah as a character and I couldn't get a real feel for him. He is written as a powerful badass who is confident, and then we also have him act shy and have his first kiss with Ari. Something does not compute. Their relationship was very meh; I couldn't connect to them.
We have all the development with powers and magic (very convenient magic that could do anything we needed) over about one chapter. There was no earning of powers through hard work, it was just given and quickly glossed over. The ending was good I guess, but I was a bit disappointed because of the very strong start. I don't know if there will be a book two; there is potential for more but it could also stand alone.
I received this book from Book Sirens for an honest review. This is the first book in a new series by Ella Lee. It starts off with Arianna who has been kidnapped since then living with vampires. This is a new take of the old vampire trope. Vampires in this world aren't shiny and wonderfully misunderstood creatures. In this book Vampires are the bad guys. Full on scary, terrifying, horrible creatures that will kill and torture and not ask questions ever. Arianna is sold at auction by her vampire owner. She is terrified she'll have to endure further torture by another vampire owner. She spots a handsome man and she knows right away he is different. From the auction on her life changes. She is sent on a quest that she is unsure if she can complete but now she has something to fight for. This was a great start to this new series and I for one am looking forward to the next installment.
Loved this book! Ari and Ren are amazing characters. Liked knowing about Ari's backstory before meeting Ren. The events she went through were traumatic and horrific. I feel that meeting Ren made her come out of her shell.
This book was a roller coaster of emotions. From what she went through to how they met and why he chose her to help him. I love everything paranormal and if you are a paranormal reader that also likes a dash of romance, then this book is for you. Not only does it have some romance, but it has deception, mystery and some horrific moments. You want the characters to succeed and, hopefully, not get caught in the crossfire.
I highly recommend this book for anyone that loves paranormals. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I was fortunate to receive an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this book! When Ren was first introduced, I was already shooting the guy down! The whole time I was like," hasn't she been through enough!!" And the guy Franklin, don't even get me started on him! Anyways, so this is a great read! There are many twists and turns in this book. If you haven't already go preorder this book!
Author's Note: This book deal's with the topics of violence, rape, suicide, and death.
Sometimes you read a book and have an epiphany. I found it after reading the sections explaining the soul bond. Ren seemingly knows all about it and offers the soul bond to Arianna to help her protect herself. Having never experienced it before, both gasped in surprise when it formed.
That gasp was epic. That gasp helped me get past the boredom from chapters of explanation about demons and magic right in the middle of the story. A soul bond for mates being used in a business trasaction was probably the weirdest thing you could expect. I give you my heart and love if you just retrieve or destroy this knife for me. I know you have been tortured for a year by vampires, but you have my knowledge and strength with this....okay? I don’t know.....
In the beginning Arianna has been living in a shell, and her inner voice keeps her sane. Jumping into a new bond with emotional consequences is a huge leap for her. Revisiting the vampire world where she was tortured to find this knife was emotional for me, too. I got invested, truly invested, in knowing whether Arianna would survive her thievery, and whether Ren would step in to save her too early, despite the contract.
The side characters are also interesting, and I really want to see a story with Hannah, the 17-year-old medic who escapes later. The world-building around vampires and demons is well-done, and seemless if you skim through the demon society explanations. But note: “Demon” does not mean evil here, nor does it mean selling your soul for a favor. Ren seemed too sweet, too perfect. It would have been better to me if the soul bond turned a disagreeable demon into a heroic one, but that is nit-picking.
It ends with the obvious description of what will come: Arianna wants to be a vampire-slayer. I was disappointed in her vindictiveness, since the soul bond is probably unique and game-changing. That in itself tells me I was totally absorbed in the story. There is now a dent in the couch from hours of reading (LOL).
Yes, this was an advanced copy from BookSirens. I picked it because it sounded interesting and had a good cover. Good choice!
Soul Bound by Ella M. Lee is such a fantastic story to read. This story is written by a brand new author for me to read and I am so hooked on it and can not wait to read more. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about vampires and paranormal stories.
I received an advance review copy for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I have received an ARC from Booksirens, and I leaving a voluntary, unbiased review.
This book is just not my cup of tea. Abuse, basically Stockholm syndrome, abduction... It is not badly written, and I actually liked the idea of a demon as the main male character but it is somehow... not interesting. Could not relate to it, unfortunately.
Fascinating storyline. I was drawn into the book from the first page. Ren and Ari's characters were well developed and very interesting. The plot was fascinating with interesting twists. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I Really enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading the next to see where it goes. As a vampire pet Arianna had no hope of freedom, until a demon called Ren bought her and made a trade go give her , her freedom. but will it work out will she get her desired freedom.
It was an engaging and interesting story. The characters were well done and there were lots of emotions. A lot of things such as abuse and rape addressed but not in detail. There is some very strong profanity but overall the story is good
