Medical school is inevitably a challenge, but when you discover a family member on the Gross Anatomy dissection table, it becomes a nightmare.
Jet Townsend appears to be on a roll: a perfect MCAT score, a medical school close to home, and a painful past seemingly behind him. But when he pulls back a formaldehyde-soaked sheet and finds a cadaver who he believes is his brother Adam, everything changes. The gruesome discovery is more than just a horrific shock-it's utterly impossible. Because Adam died in a fiery automobile accident one year earlier.
When the body is mysteriously replaced and Jet's sanity is questioned, he realizes there is more at stake than just solving his brother's murder; his own future in medicine may depend on it. With the help of ex-girlfriend Abi Rossini and lifelong friends Case Reynolds and Jack Masterson-quite possibly the only three people in the world who believe him-Jet fights to prove his competence and find his brother's killer. The conspiracy they discover creeps in directions none of them could have imagined, intertwining friend and foe, past and present. And destroying futures.
W. D. “Dwight” McComb earned a degree in chemical engineering from Mississippi State University before deciding that a career in medicine was his true calling.
He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Mississippi, then earned board certifications in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics as well as a specialist certification in wound care.
He practices medicine in northeast Mississippi, where he lives with his wife and three children.
When he’s not treating patients or writing, he can often be found on the sideline with the local high school football team, roaming the woods of the Buttahatchie River bottom, or tossing batting practice to his kids. The Truth That Lies Between is his first novel.
Absolutely enthralling! I could barely put it down! I read this book in 3 days! I would put this book with authors like John Grissom or Delia Owens. The characters have grown since the first book and so had the writing of the author, W.D. McComb. I really enjoyed getting to read about the boys who became men and their newest mystery. The book had me guessing from cover to cover. The mystery and the plot had me excitedly flipping the pages waiting to see what would happen next! I hope to see more because I was truly fascinated the entire way through.
This book was possibly even better than the first! The twists and turns were never ending, and it kept me up at night because I had to keep reading to figure out what was going on. I never guessed any of the surprises, and neither would a lot of people I would guess. They were all very thought out and meticulous. Loved this one!
I enjoyed the characters and how they have matured but at the same time how their childhood still affects them. Once it gets warmed up it goes quickly. Very enjoyable.
Another brilliant book by WD McComb. I loved the Truth that lies between and this one is easily as good if not even better. The author is a master story teller, I was totally engrossed. The friendships from the first book continue and deepen, the characters are real (I mean believable, so much so that I find it hard to believe that they are fiction and would quite like to meet them, well most of them). I’ve already recommended this book to my family and it’s only officially out today! I received a gratuitous ebook copy in advance, with no obligation to review. If you haven’t read “The Truth that lies between” I throughly recon that one too. In fact get them both and open them when you have time to do nothing else because I think you will struggle to put them down.
Didn’t think this book could be better than the first one by this author but DR McComb proved me wrong. I could not put this one down and set up until 2am to finish it. It has the same characters as the first book only they are adults now. It had me guessing until the end. I can’t wait to read the next book by DR McComb.
