Sick and tired of his situation, Arlan decides to hit the road. He doesn’t need the grief from his sister-in-law, so leaving his brother’s house seems like the right thing to do. Little does Arlan know that trouble is following him. In the wee hours of the morning, he’s jolted awake by an argument in the room next to his at Maple Inn. Arlan runs to the rescue when he smells smoke. Only, he doesn’t find the motel owner in the office. Arlan finds a man who will change his life forever.
After a mission gone wrong, Lewis Callister is now being hunted. He goes to the motel to talk to Mike, but finds his mate, instead. Unfortunately, Arlan thinks that Lewis is the killer, and runs from him. Not only is someone murdered in the room next to Arlan’s, but vampires are out to kill Lewis, and they’ll take down anyone standing in their way.
Lynn Hagen loves writing about the somewhat flawed, but lovable. She also loves a hero who can see past all the rough edges to find the shining diamond of a beautiful heart.
You can find her on any given day curled up with her laptop and a cup of hot java, letting the next set of characters tell their story.
OK, I am going to assume that Lewis was introduced in the Brac Village series, which I have NOT read!
If I had been living Arlan's life for the couple of days that was covered in this book I would have been running out of town just as fast as my little Trax would take me... screaming all the way! ;D
I was a bit worried about a few unanswered questions at the end, but that final paragraph let me know that Nester will more than likely be in the next book, but I could be wrong... ;p
An action-packed short read that helped me get through a sleepless night... can't complain about that!
The author needs a new editor and proof reader. So many misspelled words. The stories I have read are starting to follow the same pattern so there is no real surprises. The characters were quirky and fun to read about. The human mates all have the same reaction when they find out their men are not totally human. There is quite a bit of humor mixed in the story which is fun for me. I just wished for a bit more shock factor or at least a change in pattern but it is still a enjoyable read.
I just love stories about fated mates and I just can't get enough. This book was riveting and totally had me enthralled from beginning to end. Arlan was such an adorable human and his mate, Lewis, was a tiger shifter who seemed to have vampires after him a lot of the time. I appreciated the writing style and thoroughly enjoyed the plot (action filled) of the story. The characters were also mesmerizing since the majority of them were paranormal. Definitely outstanding.
I was so happy, when I saw another addition added to the Maple Grove series. Their story are so interesting and amazing to read. By the way this book ended, it tells me another addition will follow. And, I'll be looking forward fo it.
