If Bruce Kidd thought hockey was losing its soul and becoming Amercianized, then 40 years later it's almost unrecognizable. The era Kidd writes about seems like a lost golden age. Very hard to find now I'm sure, an excellent read at the time, notable also for the mention of how scouts were going after a certain 12 year old...name of Wayne Gretzky. I remembered the name from the book, because Wayne and I are about the same age, wondering if this wonder kid would ever make it.
