Beyond Persuasion is a non-fiction book, which analyses and discusses the psychological aspects of manipulation and persuasion. It explores why certain techniques work well and others fail and attempts to predict if and when persuasion will be successful. The author claims that any technique can be used for good or evil purposes, depending on the context in which it is used. In the book, Dolton gives an overview of the history of persuasion and states that Cialdini's six principles, which are reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social proof, liking, authority and scarcity have a profound impact on how people make decisions.

This is a book, that I can confidently say, changed my life. I was in a relationship with someone that suffered from alcoholism for many years. It destroyed our relationship and our lives at the time. Reading this book has helped me find perspective and understanding that I had not been able to find before now. The book is not just for people who suffer from the desire but also for people who are close to it. I'd recommend this to anyone who needs a little support or just wants to reach out quietly, it is really very good!

"This is really fascinating book to read, I genuinely found it hard to put it down and went back to a few sections to read them again. I have also recommended it many times to people who have been as intrigued as I was.
Rebecca Dolton has found a way to make the subject just fascinating to me and for someone who has experienced this kind of manipulation in a workplace, it was something that really allowed me to categorise an old boss and actually forgive them for how they treated me.
Highly recommend this book!"
