I might be biased (because I illustrated it :) but I love this story, and so does my daughter. It is simple and inviting enough for young children to easily access the narrative and become lost in the pure magic and adventure. When I first read the manuscript, the tone of the writing reminded me very much of Enid Blyton's The Magic Faraway Tree, which was a title I read to my children over and over at bedtimes when they were little.
I have drawn quite a lot of chapter books over the years, but this one is certainly one of my favourites.
Guardian of the Gryphons has been receiving wonderful feedback from young readers and delighted parents, and I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book (and draw it :) )

Stereotypical and just slightly more than one-dimensional characters and ok writing makes this an ok read.
Nearly all the humans are villainous or incompetent - all unbelievable. The handling of the notification of the children's parents' deaths is laughable.

My 9 year old daughter devoured this book! She can’t wait for the next in the series. She’s only finding her confidence in independent reading, but this felt like the first chapter book that she stuck with and finished independently - very exciting!

I read this book to my son, who loved it!
It encouraged his imagination and gave him a sense of adventure. He cannot wait for the next books in the series.
