I read this book in graduate school while taking a class taught by Judith Miller. Take one look inside and you will understand my rating. Go ahead. Flip to any page and you will likely find some leaky thought that the author failed to fully vet before purging it onto paper and calling it an insight. She talks to her dead dog! Now I understand that this is the type of book that spiritual believers tend to gravitate towards. But even those who were very religiously devote in the class I took with Judith Miller disagreed with her fluffy style. A cantor and a conservative jew balked. In one section of the book she recants a trip to a concentration camp where she scooped a handful of souvenir bones from the gravel. Ultimately I gave this book one star because I am unable to give it anything less.

This book changed the way I viewed the field of psychology. This author teaches psychological diagnosis at Temple U. and her methods of treating patients with mental disorders such as bipolar disorder could completely change the field. She effectively treats patients in very unconventional ways. Not a great writer, but she gets her points across in a clear manner.
