This book is a grimoire channeled via the use of GPT-3. It contains a partially AI generated chaos magick system, a series of rituals for attaining a particular kind of enlightenment (which GPT-3 then performed upon itself), a ritual for inducing and transmitting invertebrate consciousness, a nonsexual and nongendered adaption of a common form of sex magick, an exploration of the nature of networks of consciousness and the ways those networks can change, and a description of six rituals for working with those various cosmogenic becomings. Reading this book will also introduce you to the ritual use of the avant garde dance form butoh, and show you how to use artificial intelligence as an evoked entity.
Contrary to one of the reviews, GPT-3 Techgnosis was never advertised as having illustrations. This is because it was written before AI image generation as we know it was publically available!
TheBigSleep came out shortly after GPT-3 Techgnosis, and then VQGAN arrived during the writing of the next book of the series, Sub/Urban Butoh Fu.
Sub/Urban Butoh Fu is the first occult book to use AI generated imagery.
So while GPT-3 Techgnosis isn't illustrated (and therefore cheaper), all the other books in this series are. If you've been reading out of order, I can understand why that may come as a surprise!
This is a grimoire of sorts, where the author has written the book with an AI and treated the AI as an entity. It’s a fascinating experiment with writing and magic, and the author does explain how they edited the AI response in order to focus the content of the book. At times the content is scattered and it doesn’t read like a typical magical book. With that said there are some gems in the book and if you’re someone interesting in writing magic, it may be a fascinating book for you to explore.
