The author shares her struggles and strengths in a natural and conversational way. The chapters are all packed with powerful, practical tools to help you become a better mother, strengthen your marriage, and cultivate a strong, healthy home. Not only did it bless me as a mom, but it is now at the top of my list for recommended resources for mothers.

My favorite feature is the “heart connectors” section at the end of each chapter. Judy provides simple ways to strengthen your relationship with your kids that I just love! She also has great questions for reflection, encouraging scriptures, and thoughtful prayers for each chapter.

The coloring pages are beautiful and inspirational, though as a leftie, not something I would personally utilize to color.

This book is sure to help you develop beautiful, deeply meaningful and intentional relationships with your children. I definitely recommend it!

This book is for moms of ALL ages, and it is filled with encouraging words for women in EVERY stage of motherhood. Author Judy Brisky shares her experiences in raising her own children, along with the wisdom she has gained. The Joy of Being Mom has so many nuggets of sound advice and it is rich in God's Word. Each chapter begins with a Bible selection, but it doesn't stop there. More scripture is shared throughout the chapter and it concludes with a Study Guide that includes a Review, (more) Scripture, Questions, Heart Connectors, and Prayer. The icing on the cake? There are coloring pages at the end of each chapter to further emphasize the topic you've just read.

Brisky has written this book in an easy, conversational style that makes you feel like she is talking directly to you! I recommend that you grab a copy, take your time to read and ponder the words, and then apply them to your own season of being a mother, so that you can also appreciate The Joy of Being Mom!

I received a copy of this book from Gateway Publishing and Blog About Blogger Network. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my very own thoughts.

Judy Brisky takes readers on a faith-filled and faith-building journey to learn how to live life as moms joyfully. Covering everything from her and her husband's own salvation experience, to family vision, to communicating with love, to choosing to be intentional and available, Brisky's book will reach out to moms in every season of life to encourage moms that, with God's available love and help, they can do it!

The book also contains a study guide; each chapter closes with a summary, related Bible verses, mom questions, "Heart Connectors," and a prayer (plus a coloring page!). Each of these helps moms to remember and write and think about what they've learned, as well as providing activities moms can implement in their own families for life, faith, and joy.

This lovely, life-giving book is perfect for moms in every stage, from pregnancy to grown children! Moms will learn healthy and beautiful ways of mothering, and be reminded that God is always there, with love, wisdom, and help. Just a beautiful book.

Motherhood is so rewarding, and also can be challenging, and at times, even exhausting. Judy Brisky's new book The Joy of Being Mom, encourages moms to see the every day joy in being a mom, in spite of daily circumstances. In this book, Brisky helps moms to cherish our current season, love our children well, and leave a legacy that will be remembered and treasured as our children grow into adulthood. I was really excited to read this book, because I knew that their would be a lot of personal application for my life.

I liked how Brisky reminded her audience that no one is perfect, and what may be right for my family may not be right for someone else. I also was happy to see how she pointed moms to God first and foremost. She did not pretend to have all of the answers, but gave her advice from personal experience, and then pointed us to the One who does have all of the answers. I found this to be an engaging and encouraging read, so I read through it fairly quickly, but I plan to go back and read each chapter slowly, and dig a little deeper. I thought it was really neat how each chapter had a study guide to go along with it. The study guide includes a review of the chapter, scriptures to look up, reflection questions, heart connections (ideas on how to apply the content of the chapter), and a prayer. There is a coloring page after each chapter as well, which I thought was unique and fun! I also appreciated her personal stories, and how she was willing to be so vulnerable and share her experiences honestly.

Some quotes that stood out to me from this book include:
-"We intentionally invest in our children as we help them grow in their strengths and work through their weaknesses. When we ask for His help, the Lord will give us wisdom regarding the rules and standards for our families."
-"We will not always understand everything that happens this side of heaven, but I can assure you from firsthand experience that God's faithfulness is all-encompassing and never-ending. He loves us, He sees us, and He will carry us through our toughest times."
-"The most important part of a house is the foundation. If the foundation is properly laid, then the house will remain level and secure...The same is true for our lives. We need to be planted in the strong spiritual foundation that is found in Christ Jesus."
-"Everything we do as parents tells our children something about their Heavenly Father. When we admit our flaws and ask for their forgiveness, we teach them that everyone makes mistakes and needs God's grace. When we forgive our children for their mistakes, we demonstrate how God is faithful to forgive us when we repent and turn away from our sins."
-"One of the most important things that we can teach our children is that mistakes do not lessen God's love for us or our love for each other. Love is not something we have to earn, or is it something we have to worry about losing."
I would highly recommend this book for any mom of young children, or even teenagers. Judy Brisky is very relatable, and her love of God is very evident. This book is a gem of encouragement for moms everywhere!

The Joy of Being Mom is a wonderful encouragement for every mom! Whether your children are still at home or adults, you will find something here. From the first chapter, Judy offers insight and practical ideas in growing as a mom, wife, and daughter of God. I appreciate how Judy shares from her heart!

The study guides for each chapter include additional Scriptures to study, questions to encourage growth, and application ideas for what was shared in the chapter. Another fun addition are coloroing pages throughout the book.

The Joy of Being Mom will meet you where you are in your mom journey and give you loving encouragement that "you can do it"!

Raising our kids may feel overwhelming at times, but Judy Brisky's book will show you that there are ways of drawing closer to our kids so it won't seem like we all have to be a perfect parent. She states that, "every woman is uniquely designed by God with a special combination of strengths, gifts and abilities" to help with the child or children entrusted to us by God. She also tells us that it is okay to admit our mistakes.

A book that is real and honest about being a mom. Sometimes it is grand and sometimes it is hard. I like how the author continues to point you back to God as you journey through motherhood and marriage.
I enjoyed the application at the end of each chapter. It gives you scriptures to look up, reflection questions, and a prayer. I really recommend it being a book you pick up to read.

What an amazing book. I can relate in so many ways as I'm reading these stories. I have laughed, I have cried reading this book. I have noticed I smother my daughter more often as I read into this book. Hahaha, I'm learning to do better as a mom and as well as how to help my daughter learn about Christ. Juggling life with many hats, it's quite a journey as it is. But all things are possible with God.

This book is absolutely life changing! As a new mom, I have so many ideas on being intentional with raising my baby girl!

The author does an amazing job diving deep into the heart issues we moms have. The stress, the tiredness, the everything in between, and how to have joy in the midst of it.

Some of my favorite chapters:
Chapter 4 - it talks about having your child’s heart. Practical ways to raise your child up in the Lord and to stay emotionally connected with them.
Chapter 7- it talks about becoming one with your husband in marriage , and gives you practical examples to keep your marriage alive while becoming a new parent as well. This chapter made me cry!

I’m a mom of four and I can relate to a bunch of stories in this book. I’m still learning after 12 years and I’m glad God has given me this opportunity to be a mom.

Recently, I have been in a GREAT book club – “The Joy of Being Mom Launch Team“.
“The Joy of Being Mom”, speaks to the heart of EVERY season of Motherhood from sleepless nights with a newborn to the rewards of being a grandma. And it’s all seen through the lens of abiding in Christ. The book includes thought-provoking questions at the end of each chapter as well as themed coloring pages.
A bonus of being on the Launch team is that we got to interact directly with the author.
