Now in my 32nd year as a professional musician, I've been blessed to have had many musical adventures with many great artists. Ever curious about music and performance, many enlightening discussions resulted which paid me great dividends: techniques, mental exercises, philosophies and more, which now give me the tools to go out into the world and create new adventures in music.
Being a student of music and now, an author, my books seek to present new information in a fresh, insightful and completely new manner. My book "Seeing Music on the Guitar" is unlike every other book I've found. Rather than simply putting you to work on the guitar, it puts you inside a guitarists' head. It's about how we guitarists organize our thoughts, not how we busy our fingers. If you can think like a guitarist, the rest of this business of guitar playing will follow.
Makes sense, right? Get yourself inside the mind of a performer and you're on the fast-track! My second book, "Guitar for Actors" also gets you where you need to be quickly. Written specifically for stage and film actors, this book is about getting you the skills for a convincing performance. FAST! Rather than spending time making you a master-level musician, it gives you step-by-step information from square one to basic proficiency in a wide variety of musical styles. In fact, it includes a style guide which breaks down the basic differences between genres to add real polish and confidence to your performance.
As I write this, I'm on the road touring with Dresden Collective, a theatre group from my homebase of Marfa, Texas. The music for this tour incorporates everything I love: rock, blues, country, R&B and even world music. It's an adventure!
Let me know what you think of my books by leaving a review, both for me and other readers. And as a result of these books, let me know about YOUR new and exciting musical adventures!
