Nikki was exhausted from betrayal and disappointment. She didn’t even recognize the woman she saw in the mirror. This cruise was her chance to start over away from men…then she met Chad. From the first time their eyes met, her body ached to be marked as his…to spread for him …to satisfy his darkest desires. Under his direction, she discovered pleasures she never imagined possible. She never knew the cravings and desires each spank would create in her hungry body.

This was a 2.5 star book that I rounded up only because I actually finished it.

I felt absolutely nothing for ANY of the chatacters. I finished the book last night and literally just had to look up the name of the FMC. We're just kinda dumped into the story... no idea why Nikki is having a life crisis. A bit is explained halfway through but it's like the author doesn't want you to know anything. Therre are more detailed descriptions of the attractions at the ports of call Nikki visited then the lives of the chatacters at supposed to get invested in. No idea what the MMC, Chad, does or why he's on the cruise since he is never seen to be anywhere other than dining rooms or his penthouse suite cabin.

THE BDSM aspect was partly interesting and partly icky. I enjoy a good BDSM book... but this was hard. Nikki doesn't know squat about the lifestyle, had never met Dom Chad before but she's gonna go all in on him slapping her face and calling her wh0re and s1ut and leaving her tied naked to his bed while he plays at the casino? Yeah, no. Experienced subs would perhaps be inclined, if they were comfortable with the Dom but I don't buy Nikki doing it. And at one point she's got redish-purple marks on her butt but Chad is going to continue to spank her with a hair brush? Oy. And did Chad honestly think he was going to train her to be a sub in 4 hours a night over 4 nights. Riiiiiiiight. And if a man ever called me "sweet baby" I would punch him in the face. I shudder just thinking about it. I'd rather be called wh0re!

And OMG...I will never read another book written in 3rd person. It was like sitting at the movies blindfolded and having the most boring monotone person describe every scene.

I expect a HEA when I read standalones but to be honest, I couldn't care less what happened to either of them. I still don't know why I actually read the whole thing.

Rediscovery

Loved this book wish there read more to the ending. To lose oneself and a journey to find it again. I really wanted the HEA.
