The Illist was a very fitting title because Ilyon was most definitely the Illist!!! Whew baby!!! A straight goon,hitta, gangsta alladat!!! I will forever love when Gatah, Steph and Dallas make an appearance! I’m still mad at Champion so he’s still getting heavy side eye from me! Ain’t no b&&$ in Nitalia’s blood do you hear me!!! She said I will hold Lay’s had while she drop flowers on your casket… AND DID! 😩😩 I loved the soul ties Lay, Ilyon and A’merie had! Their connection and love for each other was everything!! 🥰🥰🥰

A'Marie x Ilyon
Because I hate reading Christmas stories when it's not in fact Christmas, I had put this book to the side and I completely forgot about it. How, I don't even know. But, to be honest this one didn't really feel very christmassy. But boy am I glad I was able to squeeze it in before the year ended. One thing we know for sure is that Ms. Monique can deliver a story. A gangster story. It had betrayal, revenge, gûń, sex, love, loyalty, kids, family. Those are all good in my book. Everyone got what they deserved. I just loooveee how these men are all about love. The way they love their women is unmatched. They are savages in the the craziest ways, but when it came to their women, it's taken to a different level we didn't even think was possible.

When I tell you I am HOOKED , it’s not even funny! 2:10 A.M, I called my self trying to put the the book down for a while because I was trying to move at a slow pace when I tell you I picked the book back up & did not stop until I’m writing this review! Everything and more!!!! 😌
It’s something about them gangsters that got that soft and sweet side that treat you like the queen you see and ILL was that and wayyy freaking more , I can always tell how a book will have me just a couple of pages into the book. & yep I called it dang near book mark every chapter smiling like crazy just in full bliss!!!! He just a good BEHIND MAN!!! & I know I’m late to the party with these book but man do I wish I would of waited so I can read some of them over !! ILYON IS THE MAN!! & the fact he got a daughter that made me like him even more ! Lay is just everything you would want in a daughter just so freaking smart for a 5 year old ! I just love the bond they have !! Just good father all the way around!!😍 he know what he want & he went after what he want no question
Rie , (Angel ) I just knew she was going be that girl man and that’s she was , wapping itches left it right don’t play with her don’t let the age or the fact she look innocent I love that! & she was scared at first but when she gave in Boy was it beautiful to watch unfold how she was with lay just was in general just wow! Got my girl a whole studio!!! Bosss ish! & that fact she is a ARTIST !!!
That no good ex husband just disgusted….ugh & that daddy!!!! 😡 Eby , joy & tamika 🙄🙄 they ALL deserved everything that got sorry not sorry!! S/O to the guys & Nita👏🏾👏🏾
I love the brotherly relationship between ill , Azure & Yale I knew it would be & how Nita just mesh well like she been there from day one!!! I’m going always be sucker for a brother bond & sister! YALE SOO FUNNY!!!!

My goodness, the story was an incredible story that I did not want to end. You never know when you will meet the person your soul was meant to meet, until it happens. An adorable story.

He is the Illest!
Wow and wowwww! If you are looking for nail biting at the edge of your seat type of suspense paired with dynamic coupling of great female and male lead, this book is it. I absolutely loved Ilyon even though he acted like he couldn't smile unless he was with his adorable daughter Layana or his fine brothers. Angel Rie had it rough from the onset and to find out it was at the hands of the one who was supposed to protect her was heartbreaking. Karma came in a beautiful unsuspecting package and I was here for it. This was another engaging storyline and the few grammatical errors did not take away from it. It was that good.

Illyon had me in my feelings, in my dreams, and in my hood fairytale fantasy. The man literally dreamed of his soulmate before she walked into his club—like how you fall in love before the first hello?! And don’t get me started on Layona and A’marie linking up in their dreams too. I was crying like, “Ain’t no way this thug love got me emotional like this on a Tuesday.”
A’marie loved that man’s daughter like she pushed her out herself, and honestly? She deserved that soft love after surviving her disrespectful husband and Mr. Nasty Surprise Plot Twist (because whew, I did NOT see that coming). Meanwhile, Illyon’s baby mama? Straight basura. I wanted to throw her in a bin labeled “Do not recycle.”
This book was the perfect holiday hood romance—equal parts gangsta and magical, like Santa came with a ski mask and a Glock.

"A Gangsta Love"
Ms. Monique I have to say count them, I'm ✌🏾 books in and you have not disappointed me in either one. I thought I was impressed with " A Goon for Christmas," but this book seems to be running the same race. They are crossing the finish line together. I was just appalled at how you nailed Iloyn's dialect. If his language had a name, it would be "gangsta." He most definitely had a past but A'Marie was the woman for him. She had her issues she was trying to work through as well. I have to say I loved how Iloyn along with his brothers and friends pulled together to avenge A'Marie matters. It was gruesome but gave a sense of satisfaction because of how everything played out.
This is an outstanding holiday read, you will enjoy it hands down. Everyone gets a chance at love and found their happily ever after. You will fall in love with Miss Layana. She has a big and strong personality to be only five years old. I have to say she was quite inquisitive. If you aren't a Ms. Monique fan I am slowly jumping on the bandwagon. I suggest you join me for the ride. I can tell by the two books I have read so far it's going to be fun.
P.S. I have to mention my favorite part is when Ebony thought she had the upper hand. All I am going to say is to never underestimate your opponent.

This was another great addition to the series featuring single father and ex-kingpin Illyon and on-the-run artist in search of a job, Amarie. I loved how even though Amarie was going through it and down on her luck, she still had a lot of agency and was saving herself… she didn’t NEED Illyon per se but him being in her life was a blessing. I wish the spiritual/dreamscape part of Illyon forseeeing Amarie’s coming into his life had been developed a bit more. Yes, his daughter Layana picks it up a little towards the end but I think developing that further may have made the plot richer. I also think like with previous books, there wasn’t enough space and time given for Amarie to process the scorched earth sort of resolution that the MMC got for her. However, I’m loving this sexy, dark romance series and am a huge fan of the Smiths and am ready to dive into the next one.

Okay! I enjoy your reads for the gritty drama, and the love stories; but this one was so much more! Ill and A'marie's destiny was preordained, and beyond their control. They were both content with living their lives, but fate had other plans. A'marie had it rough, growing up with her parents, and then married off into a nightmare. She just wanted some peace. Meeting Ill was out of necessity, but she could not deny the immediate attraction to him. Ill, ran his business with his brothers and lived life caring for his daughter. He was happy for the most part, but wanted someone to share his life with. The magnetic pull between these two was magical. No matter what or how they tried to stay away, they just could not do it. Their love was so genuine and beautiful. Loved the cameos from our favorite characters. Ill was just that dude! How he took care of the roadblocks that were in the way of his Angel Rie, was savage and I loved every minute! This one was the best yet! Great job! 👍👍👍

This is by far my fave from the M Monique universe! ILL loved him some Rie! He was mature. He was vulnerable. He put his heart on the line. He opened himself up to rejection and was giving his all and won. My guy was true to his word as a protector. Needless to say ILL is a good man Savannah!

I loved everything about this book, I was reading every chance I could. I really couldn’t get enough of the two characters, Ilyon and A’Marie. Both characters had endured many things in their prior relationships but they were destined to cross paths. I felt awful for A’Marie and what she dealt with with her ex-husband and father. I knew from the opening scene that this book was going to have me in a chokehold and it did not disappoint!! I loved that even with an age gap, the chemistry between Ilyon and A’Marie was organic and undeniable. Ilyon would literally move Heaven and Hell to protect the ladies in his life. The author wrote her tail off when she created Ilyon.
The book is literally a page turner! It’s an experience that everyone should have. I so enjoyed this read!❤️

This was all I wanted it to be and more. M. Monique you've done it again! I'm a sucker for a spin-off and this one is amazing. ILL is a single father club owner businessman, he's gave up the Gangsta life but he's still about that life if necessary. There's been no necessity for it until A'Marie comes looking for a job. She on the run from her ex-husband. She soon finds comfort and safety in Illyon's care but man does she fight it. But soul ties can be broken. There's love, humor, drama, action, and some hood shit. And bringinh the crew together to F' some shit is the best.

A' Marie went through so much mental, physical and emotional abuse, like wow! That ex-husband of hers was a POS right along with her sorry excuse for a daddy, f***king🤡. Especially her daddy, like who sales their daughter for clout🤔and then tries to kill her for money. Chris the fake best friend got what the deserved, but that daddy oh Bay-be what he got was the sweetest revenge😁.
Ebony was an 'ol bitter, miserable bih. Ain't no respect for woman who don't loved her child/children. Then to trap a man only to discard your child cause yours and her fathers life doesn't revolve around money😒. She deserved both them beat downs she received🤣.
Ilyon & A'Marie journey to love was not without the crazy ex who recorded to take his L or baby momma drama with the help her ratchet friends. One thing these two held string to was there trust in each other, their spiritual connection and for each other. Rie definitely got the family she deserved, plus 2 bonus families. Them sex scenes, Lord have mercy😜💦.

This was the best and I am so pissed that I waited this long to read this!!!!
This was so good and such a riveting story that after you read this you can feel very good and not missing much out of this story. I wished we would have witness the wedding and the pregnancy if she ever becomes pregnant but oh well it was still good.
A’Marie was a gem and Illyon was no better. He was bae and i am low key hoping to pass through Pensacola and see what’s up 😝😝 because a Illyon on my crew; a true savage and boss man.
Layana was the bomb as well as MS. Rachel while Ebony, Joy, Chris, Alvin, Tameka all got what they deserved.
You won’t be disappointed if and when you get this book as long as you read it as soon as you get it because baby, if you wait, you won’t be happy with yourself for how good it turned out to be.

this was amazing
This was one of the books given during the All Black Book Affair Cozy Edition and M Monique NEVER misses.
I liked how A'marie handled her life after her terrible divorce. While she was running for sometime, she found herself and was fully herself. She wasn't afraid to defend herself. What was messed up was her family esp her dad and the OG's. I liked the character development throughout the book. Each character's personalities shown through the writing and I could almost visualise all of them.
What I didn't like was the dual pov which moved the story backwards then forwards, it could get a bit confusing if you didn't pay attention.
Other than that, I'm always here for a black man loving on a black woman unconditionally. I loved how Ill loved his Angel Rie and protected and provided for her even if she didn't need him to

Maaaan these men are fire 🔥 in these books. Woosa I’m breathing in and out lol!
Illyon was the man! Love his daughter Lay. Rie of course give him a run for his money and she was feisty lil something.
This Ebony ~~ I thought she got off too easy IMHO.
That ex-husband don’t know the meaning of ex IJS and got what he deserved. It always comes down to money and greed. The more money you have the more you want. The dad and his cronies got what they deserved especially the dad!
It’s always good to see the twins and Dallas! Dallas is just too fiiine for his own good!
Illyon treated Rie, his daughter, his mom and sister like the Queens they are! Love the connection between him and his two brothers!

Great Read
This is my first read by author, but not my last. Enjoyed the storyline and these characters. Held my attention from beginning to end and I couldn't put it down. Who says, that dreams don't come true, look at Ill and A'Marie. They were destined to be together and fate, brought them together. So loved everything about their relationship and how everything turned out. Everyone, that cause A'Marie any harm got exactly what they deserved. Highly recommend this standalone. Great job M. Monique.

What can I say, another awesome read by this author👏🏽👏🏽💃🏽💃🏽. We have Rie and Ill. She was running and hiding from her abusive/controlling ex-husband, meets Ill, gives him a hard time in the beginning, then eventually gave him a chance and they had their HEA. Shockingly😳😳, her father was a real piece of work. Anything for the right price😩🤦🏽♀️. Glad he got handled💃🏽💃🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Then there’s the delusional baby momma. She was a mess.🙄🙄. She deserved that beat down and more. Chris, what a joke🙄🙄. Good to see the Smith/McQueen folk again💃🏽💃🏽. Enjoyed it👏🏽👏🏽🎊🎉👍🏽👍🏽

Wow
This was so good, I was done reading The ILLEST in one day. This story had so must drama, Laughter, Killing, and sadness. I wished this book was a little bit longer. I wanted to read about their wedding and maybe a baby on the way. Happy Gatah was in this story too. That's my baby for show. I keep compering all the fine brothers to Gatah, and Dallas lol. I like how all the stories connect. Happy everyone that was a ass got what they Deserved.

The Illest
Ok so I have to read the other books that go along with these characters. The soul tie between Ill and A'Marie was undeniable. The way that her past kept her from truly living was crazy until she met that gangsta for the holiday's. I like the way Ill went above and beyond for his soul but also the way the men had no problem going with him. Layanna is definitely a character and I can her giving them hell in the future. Really enjoyed this book, I loved the funny parts as well as the way everyone came together. Definitely reading more from this author!!!

This book was everything that Champ and Nita weren’t like seriously. Don’t get me wrong I liked their book but I didn’t loveeeee their book , however ; it was a good read
I love how everybody from previous books are still around and building as well 🥰 The Smith’s ,The McQueen’s, The Halo’s, and The Jackson’s 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Illyon is that gangsta
He has become one of the favorite in this entire semi-series. Although I love all of the men in Iiyons world this dude was really the crazy one. The way he handle that dad, she will forever get her revenge and dear daddy can’t do to much of anything about it. I love how M. Monique wrote this so that their souls connected before they ever did. And little Lay did not disappoint in her role in that family. I almost need an update novella just to see if those dreams of theirs manifested.

It derailed from the christmas theme/vibe, it was basically another urban story, which isn’t a problem.
Ebony got on my damn nerves! 😂 I’m glad a’marie handled her. Finding out that joy died completely shocked me and the way chris died too, it happened so fast i still can’t believe it, lmao. - Reading from each different perspective of ebony,chris and a’maries dad tied the plot together pretty well.
Her dad being completely disabled really did it for me!! Ill showed himself about a’marie, she can never doubt his love for her at allll.

M. Monique did it again!
I have read several books of Ms. Monique’s and each one has been different. Oftentimes, I find that most authors just regurgitate the same plot but not M. Monique. She is quite talented. I definitely love the updates on all of my favorite characters. Gatah is still my book bae and Nitalia is still the sh*t. So, I’m on to the next book to read about the other Halo brother.

Yow, the ballers don't play about who they love!!!! Illyon is the boss! He know how to treat the females in his life. Lay is too grown for age....she speaks the truth! Good to read about the whole gang! Money! For the love of the money is the root of all these evil...smh...Alvin got his juice eh! Another dope read! I could go without the grill in the mouths though eh....not my cup of tea!!!

I'm a series reader, I just life catching up on past characters even it is a lil bit! So good to see Champ, Nitaliya, Stephen, Gatah, Dallas, and Chloe. Ilyon and A'Marie where a good couple. Layanna was a sweet child.... her dialogue with the adults around her was a lil growth to me but oh well. Like seeing Ebony yet beat up. I wish Azure and Yale got a story but since they were already with the loves of their lives I guess we won't be seeing that!
