Review:
I'm going to keep this review brief. It's a very short story. It was very cute. I would have liked it a lot better had it been drawn out more. I also feel that it's a bit of an incomplete thought in many ways. That's not saying that I didn't enjoy it. Maybe it's the fact that I was enjoying it so much that I was just wanting more. It's kind of like getting a sample of a really delicious food and not having access to more of it. Either way, I really enjoyed the book. I can't wait to read other books by this author. They will make wonderful holiday books!
This a fun quick listen, the only reason it gets a four star is because it is so short, I like my books a bit longer but it is great if you have only a short amount of listening time. Otherwise the story is good and contains a nice twist in the plot that you don't see coming. I have listened to a few book by this author, so it was nice for the main character to be Melodys business partner, as I don't know much about her. This does not mean that you have to have read or listened to any of the other books to enjoy this one. A nice way to spread the cheer, well sort of. Lisa is struggling with being alone with Christmas fast approaching. Everywhere she looks couples are enjoying the festivities and spreading the cheer, even on tv. So rather than sit at home and eat a tv dinner while channel hopping she decides to spend the night out on the town. That is until she witnesses something, could coming to the aid of another person put her life on the line or will she find the Christmas cheer she so desperately wants. The narrator is good and uses a lot of emotion to bring the characters to life. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Christmas Desserts and Devious Deeds (Melody Clue), My seventy-fifth short read/listen from prolific author Meredith Potts, Well-written & enjoyable, another cute, clean cozy mystery. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. AS always I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Stephanie Quinn. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Meredith Potts brings another entertaining story to my ears! This one features Melody's partner Lisa Williamson. She is a bit of a depressed person, but even while feeling a little sorry for herself she sees something amiss. Always in private detective mode, she reacts and the twist this story takes is very surprising! It may be short, but it packs a good punch. Funny with quirky characters, you too will be enjoying this novella, best with some Christmas cookies.
Christmas Desserts and Devious Deeds was a great read by Meredith Potts. Lisa worries that she's going to have a lonely holiday. She decides to go out for a night on the town in order to take her mind off the situation. She winds up seeing someone else in danger, which in turn puts her in danger. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by Meredith Potts.
A good rememinder there is worse things then being lonely over the holidays as Lisa soon found out. She is Melody’s partner, and helping someone may not be the best thing for her. Delightful to listen to with Stephanie is excellent narrating the story. Given audio for my voluntary review
We get inside Melody’s partner Lisa’s head in this book and see how sometimes, good deeds really do lint go unpunished. I liked this book and the quick getaway it gave me.
Lisa finds herself in a position of loneliness over the holidays only to go out and find trouble, or is it trouble finds her. Does her holidays liven up or settle down?
Another shift in perspective, this time to Melody's partner in detection. An interesting episode, which appears to be the last in the series. A lot of loose ends but generally an OK read.
