I've been a writer all my life but it wasn't until 2020 that I became a published author. I am excited to now have three mystery novels published. In my first novel A Killing on Hardee Street Vonda Graham unknowingly hold clues to the disappearance of an employee of the Construction Company building new homes in her neighborhood. In my second novel A Brick to Remember a missing man's daughter grows up to become an advocate for missing persons. She falls asleep while journaling which causes her to sleep-type phrases about a brick, a toy, a name and her dad - all clues to what happened to him. While working with an FBI Task Force to solve local missing person cases in Myrtle Beach her new neighbor Vonda Graham helps her solve the mystery of her father's disappearance. My third novel The Forgotten Home centers around an abandoned home. A newborn baby goes missing and from there the story follows the child, the child's parents and the person behind it all. Vonda Graham and the ladies in her book club are close to those involved in this mystery. I hope you'll read and review my novels. Thank you for visiting my profile page. I don’t have a lot of time to read much these days so I feel blessed that this book landed in my hands and spurred me to make the time to do what I love most! A very interesting read that kept me guess and eager to turn every page. The characters were realistic enough that I felt personally invested in their lives. I kept a copy at work and read on my Kindle at home! This book is definitely going into my personal library so I can enjoy it again and again....but first it goes to my 13 year old son who picked it up and started reading it!
This was pretty good! I really had no idea until the end who was the "killer". I did find myself scanning a lot, I think the writing is different for me so I had a hard time following some of it. I do think I will check out any of the future books she writes because I like the small town feel and since she is local I know the places she is referring too, so that is nice. This was between a 3 and a 4 star for me.
4.1 stars rounded up. 🥰 This is a story about the power of prayer- albeit told in an unconventional manner. It is a debut novel for the author. I loved the story and read it in one sitting. My only criticism is that the dialog sometimes felt awkward or a little stiff. I hope that the author writes again!
I really enjoyed reading this book! It definitely kept my interest and I loved how faith and prayer were a big part of this book! I’m lucky enough to know this author and I can’t wait to read the next two!!
What I enjoyed most about this book was it caught you from the get go. The characters were developed in a way that you could relate to. Looking forward to reading her next book.
I enjoyed this book and could not put it down. I did want the author to give more details, for example when Vonda is abducted where exactly did he take her? Many things are vague. I did enjoy the storyline very much! It is a Murder mystery with the power of prayer thrown in.
A Killing on Hardee Street by V.S. Gardner is the first in a series located in Logan, South Carolina, a small town not too far from Myrtle Beach. In fact, this tiny town is patterned after VS Gardner's hometown!
In this novel, we meet Vonda, a recent widow trying to adjust to her new circumstances. We also meet Marshall and get introduced to his family and his construction company. As Vonda watches new homes being built from her back deck, she sees something she wasn't supposed to see - and this lands her in the thick of a mysterious disappearance. Will she be next? I enjoyed the easy tone of this Christian Cozy Mystery, and you will, too!
