Bria Tremaine’s life changed the moment she set foot in Faery six months ago. Back then she was a human healer, terrified of the powerful fae.
Now, she’s one of them.
She has magic she can’t control.
She has a bond with the Unseelie Prince, which is supposed to see them live happily ever after.
And she’s a Seelie princess, enemy of that same Unseelie prince.
Bria would happily return to her old life tomorrow and forget everything about Faery, including her bond with the handsome prince. Except Prince Fergus is locked in the Seelie Queen’s dungeons, and her own mother is missing, rumored to be working with the Seelie Queen to hurt Fergus.
Before she can return to her old life, Bria wants to rescue the prince from the queen’s clutches. But her effort to save him will pit Seelie against Seelie and mother against daughter, and Bria will have to choose where her alliances lie. With the woman who raised her and who she loves dearly, but who lied to her every single day? Or with the prince, who is her enemy but the only person in Faery she’d trust with her life?
KINGDOM OF TODAY’S DECEIT is Book Two in the Royals of Faery series, filled with magic, power-hungry royals, a bad-boy prince and a slow burn romance. It will appeal to fans of Audrey Grey’s Evermore Academy series, and fans of Sarah J. Maas, Cassandra Clare and Holly Black.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
One thing for certain things in Faery are never boring and the second book in the Royals of Faery, Kingdom of Today's Deceit, is proof of that. This book was highly entertaining with characters that drew me in, I loved every single second of it.
The story starts three months after the events in Kingdom of Yesterday's Lies and things are looking all that great for anyone. While Bria has certainly grown from the last book and finds herself even more comfortable and stronger in faery than she was before she still has a list of problems and enemies a mile long. An evil aunt who wants to kill her, a faery king who wants to be rid of her, a complicated love life, problems with magic, and so on and so on. However, Bria is taking everything in stride, she is thinking through things, being brave, and taking action. While things aren't the best and she isn't perfect she has greatly improved.
Bria's magic is growing, she is learning more about her magic and magic in general and she seems to enjoy that aspect of things. As for complicated love life, Fergus and Bria her my heart. They have the unfortunate habit of misunderstanding each other and not communicating well. It just hearts that it's so obvious how they feel about each other, their actions and support scream love while they refuse to see what is in front of them and admit certain things to themselves and to each other. I love them together, the ease they have with each other, the support they give each other, and the banter is everything and I just need them to work things out.
I also find that I like the supporting characters more in this one, Willow, Fergus sister, has grown on me. She isn't what I thought she would be at all, she is very caring of Fergus and she is starting to care for Bria as well. Then there is Jax who has a bigger role in this story and things are more complicated with him than I originally thought and that was a nice surprise. The story is fantastic, it gives me the fae vibes that I love, crazy fae rulers who are raging for no reason, beautiful magic, and dark secrets. However, there is a twist when it comes to fae powers that I have never seen before, the past has come to bite people in the butt, and there were a couple of plot twists that I really didn't see coming.
Kingdom of Today's Deceit is an excellent continuation of Bria's story with all the action, fae history, angst, and magic it makes the story very entertaining while Bria and the gang make me feel very invested in how things turn out. The story ends on a mystery and I can't wait to find out what it is. I have no idea how many books are in the Royals of Faery but I am ready for the next one.
In Kingdom of Today’s Deceit, we return to where we left off with Bria, Jax, Willow, Fergus, and the others. Some time has passed and things aren’t looking good for our friends. Osborn continues her amazing storytelling in book two. Again we are pulled right into the world as we meet new characters, face old foes, overcome new obstacles and friendships are tested. Our friends don’t quite know who to trust at times as their story continues. With this being the second book in this series, it is recommended and needed to have read book one first to make sense of what is going on in this one.
We learn more about Aoife and Aengus’ history. We learn more about what happened back when Aoife decided it would be best to hide away with Bria instead of keeping her in Faery. We still have all of the magic and adventure in book two. The chemistry between Fergus and Bria is amazing as ever and continues to develop.
Overall it is another amazing book in the Royals of Faery series. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here, knowing how book two ended. I’m rooting for something to come of Bria and Fergus’ bond, but who knows? I definitely recommend this book for fans of YA. Fantasy, Magic, Fae and obviously anyone who has read book one!
I received this Arc in exchange for an honest review.
Kingdom of Today's Deceit starts us off a few months after Kingdom of Yesterday's Lies leaves off. We find out that after book one Bria was captured by one kingdom while Fergus and Willow were captured by the other. Bria is let out by a friendly face, that seems to be hiding things from her, so she's a bit apprehensive of whether or not to trust them. Once Bria and Fergus are reunited we continue to see them battle, not only their enemies but also, their attraction to each other as well as their bond. Both seem to internally struggle with their feelings for each other and whether or not the feelings are just due to the bond they formed as children or if it could be something more. So much of Faery seems to be a mystery and I look forward to finding out more about Bria and Fergus as we continue their story as well as hopefully learning more about out all of the other characters that play a role in Faery. Overall a really enjoyable and quick read if you love the Fae. This book doesn't leave off on a cliffhanger per se but it does end on an "Aha!" moment that you're desperately curious to see through.

*I received this book from the author directly, and this is my honest opinion*
Wow. Hayley has done it again. Every time I think I know what's going to happen, I'm surprised. Last book we discovered that Bria is actually the Seelie princess, and bonded to the Unseelie prince. In this book, everything I knew, or thought I knew, was thrown out the window. Myles is alive. Aoife is working with her sister. What's going to happen next?

I liked this book but I had a harder time with some inconsistencies in this one. The talk of book one was how powerful Fergus is. So powerful that he has four suppressers while Willow has one, right? Well all the sudden, it says everyone thinks he’s weak because he doesn’t use his whole power. It just doesn’t make sense. Also, in the first book Aoife had blood hair and in this one it’s dark brown. Also, I feel like Bria hasn’t developed much as a character with two books down I just expect more change/development from her. She still can’t control her magic and hasn’t learned much about it. Plus she is still super stubborn/unaccepting of her life/bond with Fergus. I’m hoping for more development in book 3. It’s getting a bit tedious at this point. All that said, it was a good book. I loved getting to see more of Willow and I am interested in what will come next.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I do have a small spoiler related to book 1's ending - just how it ends, not the who or where;)
This sequel does not disappoint! The book begins after Bria's capture in book 1. Several months have gone by and she is released by someone she considers to be a friend and they leave immediately to rescue Fergus, Willow, and her mother. And Fergus and Bria are trying to fight against their magical and unchosen bond which of course leads to tension, misinterpreted feelings, and witty banter.
So many things happen along the way! This story definitely moves along at a good pace so you're not waiting for the action and plotting. Characters are betrayed in unexpected ways, characters are spelled/cursed, families are torn apart, families are united.
So I can’t get enough of this series. The ending have been driving me nuts due to the cliffhanger endings. However, the beginning pulls you in from the first moment. Jax most certainly hold his place in court and is loyal but he can be clueless sometimes. These characters are all created well and I just want so much for fergus and Bria. I love the amount of secrets, stories, heirlooms, rules, and loop holes there are within faery and Bria is still trying to figure it all out. There is so much she wants to know about being fae and a Druid but she also doesn’t even want to be in faery let alone be a princess. Will the king and queen ever accept their bond? Will they? I can’t put these down from the moment I start. MUST MUST MUST read!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Bria and Fergus spend months held captive away from each other. Then, when Jax takes a chance to free them, he almost bungles it. Rhiannon is looking for the intensifiers, the things that make Bria and her mother the strongest of the Seelie as the rightful leaders. On top of this, theres a surprise waiting for Bria in the king's stables. Bria and Ferg continue to deny their feelings, blaming the bond, but its obvious they care for each other, bond or not.
I love that Bria is still clueless about most of her abilities. It makes her a more real character. The fact that Fergus has been playing weak so he wouldnt have to be king is so relatable. Another great story!
A big thanks to the author for sending her book to me.
I was very excited to read this beauty. And the book hooked me right away. After ive read the Kingdom of yesterdays lies. It started right away in action after a few pages. And didnt want to put it down. I still cant believe ive finished this book that quickly. I really enjoyed the book. Bria and Fergus i love those charakters even Jax and Willow i love. The seelie queen i didnt like that much. But he there is always someone to hate right? 😛 I even cant waite for the 3rd book in this serie. I really want to know when it all ends. The fae world wasnt like the other fae worlds ive read about. So would i buy this serie and read it again yes please sign me up 😛
This story is getting to be soo good! I love Bria and Fergus! But I have to admit I am impatient for those two to realize how perfect they are for each other and that their feelings are true. I’m a hopeless romantic so I definitely am rooting for these two.
So much has happened. Lots of surprises and action! I was so not ready for it all. I don’t want to post any spoilers. If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend that you do. You won’t be disappointed. Book three can’t come soon enough.
I received a free ARC for an honest review of this book. You are not left hanging around for a solution with this book. The ending of the last book could have been dragged out but I was so glad it wasn’t as it pulled me straight back into the story and kept me wanting to read more. The book is fast paced and you are never waiting too long for answers but there are enough questions to keep you wanting carry on. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
4.5/5 This was a really good book 2 in the Royals of Faery series. I enjoyed reading about the development of Bria and see more of her powers and bond with Fergus. This is a very slow burn romance, so I’m excited to see what happens with Bria and Fergus in book 3. This book doesn’t really end on a cliffhanger, but more so an aha moment. Overall I liked this book, and I can’t wait to read book 3! I received this as a free ARC copy for an honest review.
Each page, each chapter, draws me deeper into the land of Faery. I want to ride along with the Wild Hunt, or hang out wit Bria, Ferg, Willow, and Jax! There an undeniable attraction building between Bria and Ferg, even though they say they do not want the “bond”. They team up to save Faery, rescue her mom, and decide if the king deserves rescuing. This was a great sequel and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
In Kingdom of Today's Deceit (Royals of Faery #2) by Hayley Osborn Bria's life changed the moment she set foot in Faery six months ago. Back when she was a human healer, terrified of the powerful fae. Now, she's one of them. Book 2 is another great book in a great series that I received through bookfunnel and happy to review. I recommend getting this series. This book is available on Amazon.
Why can’t some people just accept love? It’s a blessing, a gift. But some think they should have a choice, when the choice has been made, by them already... hmm. Aunty is greedy, Dad is wacko, Mom is deep, the other Dad is wackier...must be inbred or something..., oh it’s MAGIC! Read on..
I haven’t read a fantasy for a while, but this is an engaging story, well written and lots of fun to read. You’ll love getting to know Bria and Prince Ferguson, so have some fun for a few hours in this changing world
This sequel lived up to my expectations. Once I started the book I couldn’t put it down! The author has a way of drawing you deeply into the story and taking you on a rollercoaster of emotion. I loved seeing how Bria’s character developed along.
I love that Bria isn't immediately good at everything she gets thrown into in this series and that she acknowledges what she needs to work even if it's just to herself, it makes her character feel a bit more realistic while reading. This book contains some definite shock moments and some lovely new depths and new characters as the band grows. I'm hyped to start book 3.
If only they realized how they truly feel about each other. And hopefully they will teach Bria something about her magic so she can have a little more control. Overall the story line is well put together and intriguing enough to keep you wanting to come back for more.
Good second book. It’s enjoyable to learn more about the characters and see how they work together. More intrigue is uncovered and secrets revealed. The story does not end yet.
