He’s a greedy genteel gentleman, and she’s a charming creative with a charitable heart. She’s forever willing to give the shirt off her back while he’s always thinking of ways to get more than he already has. They met by accident, literally, but after an unlikely agreement influences a series of events, a love they never saw coming blindsides them both.
Bryant Greene
“She was not the plan, nor was how we met. I was grateful she entered my life when she did, even if it was with a bang. At the time, the goal was simple, but the more I got to know Zoe, the more the goal became blurry. Unfortunately for us both, my plans were already in motion when we crossed paths and she was only to be a pawn in it all. In a short time, her position changed, though, and she became the queen I wanted to protect in my game. Zoe changed everything. Every single thing… including me.”
Zoe Stewart
“He was not the plan. Even how we met was random as hell, but I’d be a fool to believe a higher power didn’t have a hand in it all. Our deal should’ve lasted only a day, a couple of hours actually, but you can’t stop what's in God's plans. Unfortunately for us both, I thought Bryant was one way, but he only ended up being a fraud. He treated me like a queen, but I was only a pawn in his greedy game. To wish I never met him would be to wish away everything that happened between us. And despite everything, I’m not sure I would change a thing… not even a little.”
Greed is a sin of desire, an inordinate want to have more than one may need. This vice deals with the obsessive pursuit of material possessions driven by the fear of scarcity. Much like pride, greed can be a gateway to other evils if the desire for excess leads to making earthly things one’s God. Can an altruist with a charitable heart shift the desires of the greedy one who has everything except for the one thing they don't believe they need at all… love?
*This book contains sexually explicit content. GREED is a standalone and book three in the Love is Cure, Vol. 1 - Vices & Virtues series. Seven books make up this series. ENVY is next…
Brookelyn wrote her first short story when she was a sophomore in high school. Back then she discovered how using her experience as a teen living in Brooklyn to create romantic shorts was just as exciting to her as retail shopping and going on dates. After starting her first semester of college two years later, Brookelyn’s creative writing became more of a hobby and something to do to escape the stress of midterms and finals. Now in her 30s as a freelance writer, penning short stories and novellas is her everything. While her experience with writing has evolved for the better, her undying love for creating fiction remains unchanged. Brookelyn's focus is on creating contemporary women's fiction with characters based in urban settings. Her stories chronicles the emotional journeys and erotic experiences of women today through her characters and the scenarios they're thrown into.
The motivation behind her brand of writing has a lot to do with what she discovered storytelling provided for her - an escape. Her goal with her work is to create characters and urban worlds that offer a great escape for fiction readers looking for a break from the daily grind of adulting and who prefer to relax with good books and short stories. When she’s not freelancing, doing yoga, or showing her husband and toddler lots of love, she can be found sitting at her computer desk, with her legs folded, and a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine) at arm’s reach as she types or edits her latest short or novella.
Greed was a page-turner from the first page I was stuck. I loved how the characters, Bryant and Zoe came together. It was a good take on the fake dating trope. Who says a billionaire can’t learn from someone who has less than?! The best thing about this book was the fact that Bryant was willing to right his wrongs. Zoe was not fazed by his financial status and helped bring Bryant back down to reality. I loved how Brookelyn touched on gentrification, as that was a pivotal moment of the story. I was in love with Bryant’s character, we love a generous billionaire. 💗💗
I held off on rating this one because....it was alright. But it just didn't give what I was expecting it to give based on my experience with the two previous books.
With Pride and Lust, there was so much spark, chemistry, pull, and intensity between the characters...Greed didn't really have that, and on top of that, I didn't really click with the characters as individuals. Bryant was cool, Zoe was cool but I don't think I'll remember then beyond this next 24 hours.
One final thing too....I can count on one hand the amount of days Bryant and Zoe actually spent together before the I love you's came and it just didn't feel authentic or natural. From my perspective, yall have had 5 conversations and haven't spent more than a week in each other's prescence with full ass months in between some of those interactions. Where is this love coming from? What do you love? You don't even know each other!
The saving grace of this book though, I think is Brookelyns writing. Her writing style is so fluid and was to read, that it makes even the stories that aren't necessarily hitting the mark, easy to ready anyway. That and the Lennox/Rylee cameos from Last Comes Love were refreshing and motivating factors for me while reading this book.
Regardless of all that though, I'm still enjoying this novella series and will be continuing on to the next!
I will start off that Zoe is the truth and deserved the best. I could not stand Rocco and was glad she found out how trash he really was. Then comes Bryant...talk about worlds colliding! Bryant definitely personified Greed and all that he was willing to do to gain more did not align with Zoe and her value system. The chemistry between them was undeniable and watching Bryant transformed under the influence of Zoe was beautiful to behold. Seeing Lennox and Rylee again tugged at my heart. I am loving this series. On to book 4.
Greed (The Love is Cure, Vol. 1 Vices & Virtues book 3) by Brookelyn Mosley is about billionaire CEO Bryant Greene and hair stylist Zoe Stewart. Bryant and Zoe’s first meeting is completely accidental, after receiving knowledge of her boyfriend’s triflin ways she drives into the back of Bryant’s luxury vehicle. From the beginning it’s obvious that Bryant is very attracted to Zoe but he’s not trying to make any moves his mind is solely on stacking his paper. Zoe thinks he’s attractive but she’s got a lot on her plate after coming out of a 15 year relationship whew her ex is a big waste of time! Bryant gets Zoe to be his fake girlfriend as payback for the accident and despite his best efforts he begins to have feelings for her. This is no surprise since Zoe is such a light. She’s an overall sweetheart, always offering a helping hand to anyone in need which is quite the opposite of Bryant. Bryant is so money hungry and for no reason but to say he has it. He treats Zoe so well though, it’s crazy, because of this she’s completely unaware of his scheming ways. The passion burns hot with these two but it’s obvious they enjoy each other’s presence outside of the bedroom. The epilogue is so sweet. I love the character growth of the characters in the series with vices. P.s. I love that the main characters are complete opposites like on total different ends of the spectrum. P.s.s. I’m looking forward to the rest of this series and I hope we see these two again.
I am loving this series so much! So glad that we were able to learn more about Zoe, as I wondered about her, from her snippet in Loveless. Her heart was so pure, and her actions so genuine, you couldn't help but to love her. Rocco was trash! I'm sorry that she was hurt, but glad that she was able to put him behind her, to make way for better. Bryant, from the beginning seemed to just want more money and prestige, and didn't let anything stand in the way of that. Bryant meeting Zoe was accidental, but he used that to his advantage. Little did he know that she would turn his world upside down. Zoe was leary of Bryant and why he wanted her around, but she pushed those thoughts away, and just went with it. Zoe made Bryant feel and behave like he was a normal guy. He never knew how much he wanted and needed that, until he met her. I love how Zoe stood firm on her morals, when Bryant made decisions that went against everything she held dear. Disappointing Zoe crushed Bryant. It was then that he knew his true feelings for her, and that she was worth fighting for. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Great job! 👍👍👍
I'm Good On My Own But With You I'm Something Else You're Telling Me To Choose Up But I Already Choose You
This is another 5 star read to me. I love how Lennox and Rylee was intertwined in here as well like why Lennox had hung up on Bryant and more details about Lennox's homegoing celebration😭😭 I love how pure hearted Zoe was and how she pushed Bryant to be a better man by not letting making more money be his only motivation and to serve the community. That first kiss at the reception was the start for the magic to happen later that night. The title described him to a tee especially with him having a dollar sign tatted on his ring finger and the way he was getting ready to betray his beloved grandmother but he did right by her in the end and made her proud of him. I understand why Rocco and Zoe got together and was together for so long now because they helped each other grieve over their shared loss. I laughed so hard at the run-in between Rocco, Bryant, and Zoe and how Rocco saw first hand how Zoe upgraded. I wanted Zoe to be pregnant so bad. I be wanting everyone having babies👶🏾👶🏾 I can't wait to read more about Greene Gardens.
I LOVE a great fake relationship romance read. The latest installment of the Love is the Cure VOL 1, Vices & Virtues Series Book 3, GREED, gave me everything I needed for an remarkable read. Zoe is a sweet talented creative who literally crashes into Bryant a billionaire CEO. Their brief encounter rocked the NO nonsense, billionaire to his core. He had to have more of the sweet Zoe! The connection between these two is tangible, I mean literally leaping off the page. How each of them changed because of the influence of the other was so beautiful. Great dialogue, easy to love characters, smoking hot sex. Everything we expect from Brooklyn Mosley. I enjoyed this installment, I would recommend this book. This was a good read.
I liked these characters a lot and the idea of their relationship. However, I don't think there was enough character development. I know it's a book and couples will fall in love in unrealistic time frames but they literally only had 4 or 5 encounters lol. And really, the first two don't count. Pretty much all of their encounters (I'm referring to before the epilogue) they didn't get a chance to get to know each other. The three is because I really disliked that Lennox died. Like really? I'm new to this author so I'm reading out of order and I'm so happy I didn't spend $3.99 for that disappointment. I read the cover of Lennox's book and saw it said a bigger sweet romance but from the little I read they so amazing together. I wouldn't waste great characters like that on an upset ending. It ruined this book for me.
I loved it from beginning to end. I think this is my favorite so far but I could be wrong or indifferent because everything Brookelyn writes I truly love. I loved Zoe... she was everything despite her past. The perfect balance for Bryant because all he could see was green before he saw so much more of life through the eyes of Zoe. My heart broke a little reliving Lennox passing but I hope to hear more about Rylee in the future. Definitely patiently waiting on the other books in this series I’m sure the writing will be worth the wait
Brookelyn continues to show me why she's my favorite author! The way she tells a story, the way she describes things is so real. I love getting to catch up with other characters from her books. I'm ready for more Zoe and Bryant...they may be a close second as my favorite Brookelyn Mosley couple with Amir and Melodee being my first. I can't wait for the rest of the Love is Cure series!
Absolutely loved the relationship between Bryant and Zoe. What was supposed I be a fake relationship turned out to be a long lasting, forever love affair. Bryant actually needed Zoe in his life in order to remember that life was more than just making money. The book was well written and flowed very well.
Bryant and Zoe's pairing started out very unconventional. But in the end, she was just what he needed, to fulfill the potential that he had yet to realize. And he most certainly made up for his previous missteps with her loving influence. I just knew that for Bryant to be friends with Lennox, he would get it together when it mattered most!
So this book was well written I enjoyed the journey of Bryant and Zoe relationship. It was so natural and easy. He definitely needed her to bring him down to earth. The emotions i experience with news of his friend had me to stop and take a break. One to the next one
Although Bryant presented as a bit of a snob initially, this turned out to be a really good read. Of course Zoe stole the spotlight with her personality and good spirit. The only thing I hated about this book was what happened to the friend. Glad Bryant learned the error of his ways before it was too late.
I’m happy to see how much Bryant turned around. I’m so happy he was able to see the error in his ways and realize the way he had been living wasn’t living at all. Zoe is such a sweet soul.
Zoe was cool but the book was missing something. Definitely slow paced but Zi guess I wasn’t that impressed with Bryant. His character didn’t grab me and their relationship didn’t have enough interactions.
This is my second favorite book in this series. I love character development. But Zoe was everything I love in a main female character. She wasn't a pushover. She was real on every level.
Zoe really brought Bryant down to earth! Cause he was definitely on one with himself!! Glad he wasn’t to far gone to see the error in his ways. I really enjoyed their story
I wish it was longer and the storyline could’ve been flushed out so more because it was a really good storyline! Short stories just aren’t for me, good book though.
This book was simply amazing it really gives an insight about how the right person can influence change is someone. This book is every girl's dream I'm sure. So well put together and the steamy scenes were just amazing. Sugar, spice and everything nice. Kudos to you
