Step Up, Shine On!

Kat's got all the ingredients to go all the way. But she fails her exams-on purpose-to avoid the pressure of the top classes. She kills it in soccer, but never trials for the rep teams. She's happy to fly under the radar, unlike her oh-so-perfect Wonder Brother. But this year things are shifting. Not least in her friendships. Lavinia has defected to none other than The Triad of She-Wolves, but Kat's gained the new girl, the Goth, and after tutoring Bayani's brother, a boyfriend! When secrets are revealed and loyalties are tested, Kat discovers that it is time for her to step up... and shine!

I really loved this book, it was funny and touching at times, and definitely relatable. At the start it was ok, but the character and personality of Kat developed throughout the book.

I couldn't put his book down for even a millisecond, each chapter was fulled with an interesting point of view of a modern polish girl living in a foreign country. This book pinpoints aspects of a teenage girl in high school and the drama that always comes with it. A great read for girls of any age ( but probably girls between the age of 12 - 14 would enjoy it most )

* I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review*
I enjoyed this one so much that I read it over the space of a single day. It is a sweet and relatable coming of age story about figuring out your place in your family and your world.
I liked the way we got to see different perspectives from young people whose families migrated to Australia.

Omg :D This book was very very good, and it made me want to keep on reading on and on. All the different characters seemed so realistic, and I loved Dan's, Bayani's and Kat's personalities. I wish there were more amazing books like this in the world!!!

Cute book. Definitely aimed at the younger side of 'young adult' but still a nice, easy read.

A fantastic YA novel for the tween girl and up. Kat the main character is imperfect enough to be relatable and perfect as a role model. She’s learning how to be herself, be surrounded by people who treat her right and lift her up. Kat is brave, talented, compassionate and still a bit awkward about her Polish family and community as she navigates cultural differences in Australian society.
